The part that always breaks me is the “and I complained the whole way there,” because I feel like we’ve all been there. We’ve all complained or been ungrateful for things that our grandparents/parents do for us, and when they’re gone, or when it’s too late to go back and change how you treated them, all your left with is the hollow feeling of missing them. It wrecks me every time.

It's very moving, but the one that always brings tears to my eyes is Tolerate It... she sings it with so much pain, it's mindblowing that the story in the song is all imagination and none of that happened to her. 😊

My grandmother used to sing my name. She would say “Brittany” like a song... no one else could ever say my name like she did. I still have dreams about it. This song kills me. Especially at the part when she says “I’d think you were singing to me now.” Makes me think of my grandmother.
I love that part where she says “I should’ve asked you questions” and “should’ve kept every grocery store receipt cause every scrap of you would be taken from me” because it shows how much her grandmother meant to her. To say she wish she kept a grocery store receipt shows how she wishes she kept everything, even something that’s usually considered that insignificant really shows she wishes she didn’t take her for granted too
After my dad passed, I almost threw something out that I wouldn't be using. It was new in a box, just a pet toy. I thought to open the box just to make sure nothing else was in it and here there was a store receipt for the toy, with my dad's e-signature on it that he used to pay for it. I kept it. This song makes me cry every time ❤️
the fact that taylor incorporated her grandmother holding those long, operatic notes in the song dedicated to her is so special

Her grandma’s name is in the credits of the song for the background vocals you hear in the end.
I think the verses represent lessons that her grandma taught her, and the part in the bridge when she says “all your closets of backlogged dreams and how you left them all to me” means that Marjorie really wanted to be a star as a singer, and if it wasn’t for her, maybe Taylor wouldn’t have had the courage to become a star.

You mentioned a few times wishing you could write songs this way, that have that deep felt connection, and wanting to sit and chat with Taylor about songwriting. It just gets me thinking how long she has done this craft. How practiced she is at this point at songwriting. I imagine all the songs, the lyrics, the music she's written over the years and never shared only releasing what she's most happy with. So I guess I just keep thinking to be a good genuine songwriter it takes doing it over and over and over. Failing over and over and over and eventually coming into your voice. It reminds me of the line from "mirrorball" - "I've never been a natural, all I do is try, try, try." Granted I think Taylor clearly has a natural talent but I don't doubt she works very hard to hone that talent. Working that hard, not being afraid to fail is something I want to work on in my own creative pursuits. As always really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing.

I just watch a recommended video of someone reacting to Taylor Swift latest songs and then I found myself falling for this guy. 🥺😂
Love the reaction. I love this song because I relate to it so much since my mom died this past September from having brain tumor and other types of cancer just as Taylor's mom has/had brain tumor and struggled with cancer as well, so Taylor wrote the song "Soon You'll Get Better' for her mother. and both Marjorie and Soon You'll Get Better hit me right where it hurts so I love them so much. when Taylor released Soon You'll Get Better in August 2019 my mom was struggling with her cancer and lyrics fit so well back then, and now she released this song and it fits so well. her lyrics really touched.
I hope you will react to Taylor's live performances, cause as you said it's not just doing it on the album, it's how you perform and Taylor knows how to put on a show. every one of her tours are spectacles. I really recommend reacting to her movie tour "reputation stadium tour" on Netflix. it's so good. also her Tiny Desk concert from NPR and The Long Pond Sessions on Disney+ where Taylor explains and performs each song from folklore. also her 1989 tour.
