Yo I just want to say love your Channel. Just picked up a Dodge Sprinter and about to work on my first build. I will say this though, I'm a flooring installer by trade. I don't care what they advertise on that vinyl plank, it's not waterproof. Sheet vinyl is what you want. I have taken up multiple vinyl plank job with water damage underneath. Water gets in between the joints every time
Just found your channel this evening. I’m currently in the early stages of my van build. Love your channel and the way you have presented this project. I definitely look forward to your solar install and the rest of the build. Can’t wait to get started on mine and use many of the tricks you have been sharing! Keep up the great work! I cannot wait for the next one!
Where was this channel when I was building my first van? 😩So informative especially when it comes to the small details that other van conversion channels don't cover. Keep putting those videos out man!
nice work and helpful tips along the way. looking forward to the solar install since that along with the roof rack (extruded aluminum), a/c and vent will be my first project on the promaster.
Really enjoying your videos, you do great work and I’ve already used some ideas in my own build, especially the scribing technique with the floor - worked awesome! Thanks!
@@swexplorer yes I ordered one and it’s taking forever. They keep pushing it back. Now I’m expecting it in September. I’ll be making videos on it as soon as it arrives
Love the aluminum idea as a framing for the bottom floor! Thanks for this! Also, have you heard of the vinyl shifting once you install cabinets and stuff on top of it?
Hi there, I enjoy your videos and I'm in the middle of my DIY on my ProMaster. Do you have a 220AMP alternator? Looking for some guide to how the installation is done on this type of electrical. Can you help me please. Thank You. Awesome Videos.
@@BuildingVanLife Wow! thank you for your time. I'm still looking at some of your videos, very nicely done. Will continue to look for the Alternator charging Installation. Thank you once again.
Any reason you’re putting down the vinyl at this stage? If you’re going to build cabinets on top, it seems it wouldn’t allow the boards to expand/contract in extreme hot/cold temps. I’ve read boards can form small gaps, or even buckle if there’s not proper spacing. Anyways, vinyl is going to be the last thing we put down in our van. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
I have a construction background and this is the order I prefer. I know some people like to put cabinets first then the finish floor but i believe that’s just to save on material costs which in this case is not significant. The expanding and contracting people refer to is usually at the edges where the vinyl meets the wall. Once this floor is installed it locks together and you can think of it as one piece. So if you installed this on a cold winter day and jammed it tight up against the wall when it heats up in summer it would expand and buckle. Two ways you can do to stop this is; 1 leave a 1/4” all around like I did where possible, and 2 acclimate your materials. I installed this on an 80 degree sunny California day. So when this was installed it was basically at full expansion. I also feel that the larger the room you install this in the more that expansion effect is multiplied like in a huge room of a house. In a van tiny space it’s going to only be so much.
Not with this type it’s a floating floor. Once it’s all together it can’t move especially after adding the edge protection that gets screwed in by the sliding and rear doors
I have a question have you ever installed a 24x36 shower pan in a 3500 ram promaster? We are struggling with finding a shower pan with hole in the corner to be able to get around the frame
I haven’t and I haven’t seen one that size with a corner drain either. You will for sure need a corner drain. You may be able to find a shower pan without a drain and drill your own or have one made custom out of stainless steel.
This is streets ahead. Nice job.
Thank you! :)
We are really enjoying your series d explanations. Super descriptions.
I love the attention to detail! I hope I can buil something like this
Thank you. I’m sure you can. Just follow along.

Excellent work!! Hard to find the right materials here in México but I think is posible to do it is just more frustrating 😂😂😂😂
I find your videos super helpful so thank you for that!! can you show us how you finished the molding area near the back doors!?
Thank you. I have a whole video on that. Let me know if this helps th-cam.com/video/QqDHveF7AmA/w-d-xo.html

That’s great thank you
Just curious why you didn't go parallel with the van with the planks?
I think side to side create and illusion that the van is wider but I don’t see any reason you can’t go parallel if you want. Just preference.
Incredible van build series! However I'm wondering why didn't you run the vinyl flooring vertically? Instead of horizontally.
You can install yours whichever way you prefer
@@BuildingVanLife are you going to be doing another van build soon?

Thank you. Once you put in the aluminum it won’t be able to shift since it’s screwed down.
Great videos! What type of insulation did you put in the bottom part of back door? I need to fill spaces like that and not sure what to use... Thanks!
I just use regular fiberglass insulation from Home Depot. You can spend triple on wool insulation but I think it’s a waste of money

Don't you glue or connect the vinyl planks to the floor somehow? what makes them stay in place and not move?

@@BuildingVanLife shoot we had a feeling that model doesn’t have a space for the drain
What color is the Traffic Master? Do you have a link?
It’s from Home Depot
You probably should have added Rust-Oleum to the aluminum before you installed it just in case it gets wet
Alluminum does not rust.
