    Seeing the tank and how it is used, either with or without an electric pump, is invaluable to me, thanks! I have always leaned away from having plumbing but I could change my mind. My primary purpose of any plumbing would be for sanitary: a hand washing sink. I see there are hand pumps but what is very nice is the foot pump so it's easy to rinse both hands without having to use the hand pump.
    I will also get water to boil and make bread or pasta, for example, which can be done with the sink water. To wash I would use a bucket bath and for the sink faucet I could make an extension with a hose to put into a large container that doesn't fit in the sink.

      I highly recommend putting in an electric water pump. it's one of the easiest things to install in the whole van.

    Wondering if you plan on securing the 28 gallon water tank with more than just your 2x2's on the floor. I have the same tank and am trying to figure out the best way to secure it in the van. It's a lot of weight to deal with. Also was wondering if I should cut and install an inspection hatch on the top of the tank for possibly needing to clean the inside down the road. Think it's a good idea?
    And thanks for all the videos. Great to see the progress.

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can’t move at all in any direction the way it is so this is how I’ll leave it. I wouldn’t cut into the tank if I was you. Maybe once a month pour some bleach in the tank and run it through a few times to clean it

    Thank you for the really helpful videos! I'm framing my shower right now with the same pan you have. does the plywood go inside the pan edge as well as frp? or just the frp goes inside? it looks like you framed to exactly fit around the pan (from what I can see) Thanks!

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s best if you can butt the plywood up to the edge or the pan so not in front or behind. So it’s basically flush then the frp overlaps over the edge of the pan so water can’t get behind.

    Dude your videos are so helpful, I’m starting the plumbing in a few weeks in my van and this is great. One question if you don’t mind is have you ever used an accumulator in your sink system? I got the same water pump and saw others use an accumulator before, not sure if that’s overkill or not in your opinion since I did see a comment on the water pump instructions that an accumulator may not be necessary? You really seem to know your stuff, so any thoughts on that? Really appreciate the time and detail you go into in your videos, thanks again!

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeh i have looked into it but with such a small system and such a powerful pump, I have never needed it. It just works perfectly every time you open a faucet. I think it might be overkill

    Great presentation! My dad was a plumber the last 30 years before his passing so a lot of this made sense to me already. For your tank water drain in the back did you insert mesh screening to keep the bugs etc from crawling or flying in through the pipe holes? Also, I was wondering if the fill pipe on top of the water tank should be secured to the tank itself somehow. I’m a new subscriber and already loving your videos! Stay safe! ~Jim @TOTALLY RELAXED!~

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t put mesh in yet bc I just haven’t got to it yet but I definitely plan on doing something to address this. The fill pipe seems to working fine the way it is right now without any leaks so I think I’ll leave until it has an issue. If anything I think I’ll just use solid 1” 1/2 pvc next time and go Into the inlet that’s closer to the rear of the van

    • @TOTALLYRELAXED
      @TOTALLYRELAXED 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuildingVanLife > yes, PVC…that thought had hit my mind as well! IMO, with PVC [for the fill pipe] chances are you wouldn’t ‘need’ to secure it to the water tank due to its tough being. Looking forward to more of your videos! Have a blessed Saturday! Stay safe!

    One more quick question if you don't mind... Do you prefer running your air vent line under the van for any specific reason? The fill port has that little male adapter that you can mount a hose to it, but is there any particular advantage to running it down low as opposed to up top aside from it also serving as an overflow outlet? Thanks again for all your videos, they're incredibly helpful.

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh you can use the port on the fill valve. I only run it through the floor to use it as an overflow valve.

    Curious why you put your intake hose on the other side of the tank instead of closer to the port?

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because of the spa hose I used on this is very firm and would not be able to make the sharp bend. In the next build I'm going to make the whole intake out of pvc and go into the side of the tank near the rear of the van.

    How do you measure where to put the holes in the van floor?

    • @BuildingVanLife
      @BuildingVanLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not easy, you have to get under the van and take my measurements from the same place on the rear bumper under the van and up top. When I’m confident I’m in the right spot I start with a small pilot hole to make sure before I cut the big hole.
