This was Canada at its finest. Talented, introspective, and humble. I was honored to grow up listening to artists like this. Lord how the world has changed… God bless
Great Band , Margo a Goddess ,,Great Canadian Music like so much that has been and so many presently and always more to come. The Roots of Canada Musically Run Deep . Note The Band of Siblings ,,The Timmins Family .. Grandfather was a Mining Mogul and Timmins Ontario is named after him
My wife and friend say that the thing about Cowboy Junkies that is beautiful is that they don't even sound like they're trying. Watching this little concert, you can see how carefully she frames it, and then lets it drip, organically, from her mouth, as her bandmates let it spring from their fingertips. They are where they should be, doing what they should be doing, for the right reasons, and in the right way. How many of us can say that? Bless 'em.
The magnificent Cowboy Junkies! May the road rise up before them! Oh! and Margo, the voice....the voice! Taken me to a happier place! May your God smile upon you!
you don't have to wail.. You don't have to reach a certain register to have a BEAUTIFUL soothing voice. This I find here. Other artist may have more albums, may have more fans, may have more "awards" I dj as a hobby. I hear a lot of voices. This right here soothes my soul.
I will never forget your stunning performance at 'Sweetwaters' festival in Aotearoa (New Zealand) in 1996. I was a young pup, but it blew me away!!! Ka pai.
Have been a Cowboy Junkies fan since the 80's ... her collaboration with Tom Wilson on his Lee Harvey Osmond album " A Quiet Evil " was simply the icing on the cake for us Canadian music fans ... adore both of them ...
Great album, but for me, it's "Black Eyed Man", a few years later , a Townes song, a duet with Prine ( if memory serves ), and especially "Southern Rain" , an underrated Canadian classic.
Subjectively, some rare voices stand out as personifications of mercy, kindness; as shoulders to cry on, as patron saints of the lonely. To me, Carla Torgerson (from The Walkabouts) is one such person and Margo Timmins is the other. Must note that they are also linked by their love of late great Townes Van Zandt, whose work contains the greatest joy and the greatest sorrow. --Waving from Istanbul.
brad sanders I went to my first live CJs in San Diego at Humphrey’s with a neighbor. I knew zero of them. Neighbor was an engineer nerd. He yelled out in a lull ‘Margo, you are a goddess!’ Blew me over with a feather! I’m a devotee....
When my ex and I split up 25 years ago, the CJ's 'Trinity Sessions' was one of my first purchases to cheer myself up. They still sound ethereal and marvelous after all these years.
Matt Guest saw her in Annapolis MD in May, her version of Sweet Jane is so good. Going to see them in Manhattan on Sunday for their new one "All that Reckoning" seems like a very mellow albunlm even moreso than usual
Wow, I first met my beautiful wife following the junkies back when we were young and ignorant!...🥺... Time never forgets true love! Late 80's, early 90's were the time to be alive!!! 🤘🤘🤘
My only complaint - too short!! I could listen to her all day. Since my first exposure back in the early 90s, this persons expression theough her voice... So moving.
I still remember the first time I heard Whites Off Earth Now. And got to see them way back when in a small theater. Still honest as ever. Great stuff, thank you.
Thanks you Cowboy Junkies for the timeless peace of music-history with the audiophile "The Trinity Session" !! Your gig Margo on NPR is awesome, brilliant and superb ! My ggoodness.. and here 23 dislikes ???? We would say in Germany simply.. idiots & "Vollpfosten"... B.L.,Germany
Margo sounds better since she stopped dyeing her hair. The very definition of Canadian Cool. Margo will usually stay after a concert to chat and autograph and take pix with the fans. (With Los Lobos, the most under appreciated bands of all time.)
I like this band a lot more than I should. I wish all I had to do was strum bar chords and look at the floor while my beautiful sister sang like a bird. ❤😎😁
Randy Miller III .... September 11, 2001 was the date the twin towers in NYC and the Pentagon in Washington DC were attacked and thousands of people lost their lives ... I imagine despite being Canadian they did it out of respect for those that lost their lives that day ... many of us in Canada were traumatized by this event as well ... :(
I love CJ's and Margo Why though if she is main attraction is the band named Cowboy Junkies? What about her ? IS t inferred that she is the one who's not a junkie ?
They are neither cowboy's or junkies. Margo is the deliverer of her brother's writing, words. Per' me it's their familial knowing that make Margo such an amazing songstress.
No other way to say it - Margo always looks like she's constipated when singing. Great catalog of music stretching back to the 1980s, but that grimacing face always bugs me.
Id like to learn ore bout them. is this really a family band ? Is "Junkie" their last name ? If they're canadian what does "Cowboy" have to do with them ? I think a better name for their band would be "Hockey Puck Junkies" or "Moose Cowboys", "Maple Syrup Riders" ... "New Riders of the Tundra Ice".
John Russell Guitarist Mike, singer Margo and drummer Pete are siblings. Bassist Alan is a lifelong family friend. As for the name, it was one of those thrown together well-this-is-weird-so-it-should-get-some-attention kinda deals.
John Russell Margo Timmins (vocalist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Alan Anton (bassist). The band's name was chosen randomly as they approached their first gig
I can listen to Margo for hours & hours and want more. What a talented family.
Mee too !
This was Canada at its finest. Talented, introspective, and humble. I was honored to grow up listening to artists like this. Lord how the world has changed… God bless
Well said. Thank you for that insightful summary.
Well, well said...both comments. Namaste
I never knew they were Canadian but GOD no matter where they came from it's easily one of the greatest I've ever heard!

Absolutely beautiful.
A Classic show...One of my favorite Tiny Desktops of all time.

Stewart McDowall Whose God? Pelosi?
25 years...blimey, time flies. Still making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Remembering seeing them in Glasgow back in 89/90, epic.
That voice, man. That voice.
I have been a fan for most of those years and still love to hear them. Saw them in concert twice. Love her voice and the playing is simply expert.

Great show and well recorded! I've seen them many times live and each time is wonderful.
Jeez such an incredible band! They have the magic to lift your heart or make u sad. AMAZING!
wow this takes me back sad to say I forgot about the cowboy junkies - amazingly talented group

Margo can just talk and she sounds like singing. What a voice!
20 plus years of listening, and I'm still stopped in my tracks when I hear them
I bought the Trinity sessions because of a review in rolling Stones back in the '80s. Been on my Sunday morning coffee playlist ever since
Great album, but for me, it's "Black Eyed Man", a few years later , a Townes song, a duet with Prine ( if memory serves ), and especially "Southern Rain" , an underrated Canadian classic.
life-time French fan here. 2 things are close to my heart : my mother who passed away and Cowboy Junkies.
💟✌Sending Peace & Love from a fellow French Fan

Shivers,she is sublime.

So beautiful, simply stunning, such emotion from Margo.
I really love these guys. Terrific sound. Awesome musicians
First seen them back in 1988 at Michigan State University, have seen them 5 times since then. Between them and Robert Cray, never disappointed.
This takes me back some 30 years. they were my favourite band and some!
The awesomeness of the Cowboy Junkies!
I have been a fan since the early 90's. We were honored to get to see them live at Mountain Stage.
i love how the Canadian apologizes at the end. Margo, you were all perfect, as ever.
As a Canadian and a Fan I apologize for their apology.. Sorry ❤❤❤
Just lovely!! Can't stop listening...
Elaine my partner loved the group Elaine went away to the gods 11 years ago next Thursday, Elaine introduced me to you lot always enjoy your music.
Man, what an absolutely amazing voice! Could listen to and watch them all day long!
Margo s voice is so kind and memorizing it s like a Lullaby
that's my heart on that tiny desk
When my ex and I split up 25 years ago, the CJ's 'Trinity Sessions' was one of my first purchases to cheer myself up. They still sound ethereal and marvelous after all these years.
Ken McKim love it! But "cheer you up"??? I don't think so, not the Trinity Session
My thoughts as well. Her version of Sweet Jane on it breaks my heart.
Matt Guest saw her in Annapolis MD in May, her version of Sweet Jane is so good. Going to see them in Manhattan on Sunday for their new one "All that Reckoning" seems like a very mellow albunlm even moreso than usual

Awesome video of Cowboy Junkies.... Love these songs! Thank you
like is not enough for the Junkies...they are wonderful.
They are just amazing.
My only complaint - too short!! I could listen to her all day. Since my first exposure back in the early 90s, this persons expression theough her voice... So moving.
Cette voix, ce band ...forever !
One of the few bands in this world who are better live and acoustic than recorded 🙌 🫶
Love this group and all their songs.
una voce che mette in moto il cuore
Fell in love with that voice!
I still remember the first time I heard Whites Off Earth Now. And got to see them way back when in a small theater. Still honest as ever. Great stuff, thank you.
Saw them in Norfolk, VA earlier this year and they're aging to perfection. Awesome show even though we almost froze our a$*# off
This was 2012. I’m going to see them in Canterbury, England next month in 2022!
Thanks you Cowboy Junkies for the timeless peace of
music-history with the audiophile "The Trinity Session" !!
Your gig Margo on NPR is awesome, brilliant and superb !
My ggoodness.. and here 23 dislikes ???? We would say in Germany simply.. idiots & "Vollpfosten"...

Ganz richtig!
Just love it. Saw you live at the phoenix festival '98. You blew me away.... love to y'all.
Absolutely fantastic.
Thank you...
Misguided Angel is beautiful and so true..
Margo Timmins could sing me Happy Birthday and I would cry
timeless !!!
Margo sounds better since she stopped dyeing her hair. The very definition of Canadian Cool. Margo will usually stay after a concert to chat and autograph and take pix with the fans. (With Los Lobos, the most under appreciated bands of all time.)
it pains me that we can only "like" once
So true!
I want to more than "like" - at least Love!
This like is for you...
I pushed like before I started listening!
Don’t know I’m just seeing this now?? Been a fan since the trinity session….
I like this band a lot more than I should. I wish all I had to do was strum bar chords and look at the floor while my beautiful sister sang like a bird. ❤😎😁
Misguided Angel...very nice...
I love them I wish they would tour in RI
Wow still amazing!
Beautiful
I had tickets to see Cowboy Junkies, but something happened that day and they cancelled the show. It was September 11, 2001.
Maybe one of them was sick?
Randy Miller III .... September 11, 2001 was the date the twin towers in NYC and the Pentagon in Washington DC were attacked and thousands of people lost their lives ... what a voice
so soothing
Wonderful !
love!
Her voice is the feminine ideal (at least to me) if I sung I’d want to do it with her voice.
Agreed.
I would add Mary Brennan of Clannad. And her sister Eithne Brennan (Enya).
Fantastic
❤❤❤
fell in love with Margo a long long time ago at Barrymore's on Bank St.
Oh no you don't! I saw her first!
I miss you Antonio, If you find this I love you
Just bought their band t-shirt…it’s 2024 ha
Им равных нет ❤
Takes me back to 1993 and a girl named Liza

Jeff Byrd. The best.
Best NPR ever
Why the commercial interruptions?
beautiful :-)
Same here! :)

Marlo, there are more famous. No one else's voice would you want to hear when you know you're going to the gallows
Timmins has lost some of her voice, but that harder edge is beautiful in its own way.
da capo
Playing too loud again Michael.
Crash
No other way to say it - Margo always looks like she's constipated when singing. Great catalog of music stretching back to the 1980s, but that grimacing face always bugs me.
Ravin' Dave thats unfortunate
