I'm going on 65 years old and just discovered this band today. So hard to believe! I love the way Margo can take songs by Lou Reed and Neil Young and make them so beautiful. I'd never appreciated Neil's or Lou's voices though I appreciate their lyrics and compositions. The band is tight too, well balanced. I'm eating 'em up today.
One month later, just discovered this band. I'm an old guy too, and the feelings about these musicians are the same. They relive memories of music past, just so much better. Great arrangements and Mrs. Timmins is an exceptional lead voice. If only they would tour Europe!
It never too late and always the right time to discover a band you had no idea you would really enjoy. Im only 51. I’ve loved them for just over 30 years. I’ve seen them a bunch over that time and going to their show on Nov 22 in T.O.
I'm like you, I'm 52, been listening to these guys since Pale Sun Cresent moon came out in 93'. I envy you in getting to see them live. Margo is great. They're all great.@@ponchobill72
but well her husband is to congratulate, but she is not singel. Well.. sometimes one is not lucky, but another man is. Good it is so at least, otherwise would be a waste of time, - about 3 minutes, for next guy is there to try his luck. So, it have to be enough to dream a bit, and listen to the music, "it shoud have been me" an old song, I understand why it has been written, sometimes more than other times, rarely but in this case, well I rest my case, all men who are the kind of men, knows what I am hinting.
As far down in the comments as you care to journey you find us all trying to describe this magnificent music and these magical people.Thank you CJ for sharing this with us.
The Cowboy Junkies just get better and better, and I could just listen to them forever. I've been lucky enough to see them twice; if you get the chance, GO. There isn't another band out there like them. Perfection.
Nice people too. Had the honor of meeting them several times after shows, even help cook dinner for them once. Just simply cool people to interact with.
There's a level of consistency to Cowboy Junkies which, IMO, few other bands achieve. The dedication to their fanbase is also something off the charts, with them always genuinely thanking us for our support. And their music, coupled with Margo's spine-tingling voice, create a sound of intimacy and longing and humanity and wonder and humility. Simply Divine.
I have tickets to see them/they/her in Atlanta April 14, 2024... I just hope the show is 1/10th as awesome as this! (I will report back and let you know 😝)
The album “Open” had just came out around this time. This is a particularly notable period for CJ. Loved how they played more with mixing in so many genres in that album. Peak CJ here.
I’m so glad you said that! Usually when I tell people that they play psychedelic music, they look at me weird and say whatever. I just tell them to go see them play. Then go see them again and again and again..
Been a fan since Caution Horses... Finally had opportunity to see them July 2024. Waited nearly half my life . As good a band live as I've ever heard. Incredibly tight and smooth
It appears that Michael used the tune from Leonard Cohen's "Ballad of a Runaway Horse" for his song "River Waltz". It is beautiful, but is of questionable legality, unless he gave Cohen credit somewhere that I'm not aware of.
(..treated him like a stepbrother...lost at someone else's game. ==== "If wishes were promises"...j'ai pas raison?. Entre ces guillemets une chanson noubliaible de Nanci Griffith (pace août 2021) Merci de m'écouter pour la 36e fois. 73 and me, too.@@glenndellatacoma
There was a time when Margo was young, beautiful and sang like an angel. Now she is older, even more beautiful and when she sings the angels blush..

Definitely one of the most underrated bands of today.

That last song, she just knocks me out!! That smile, that joy. Great songs and top talented band, the CJs...
Anniversary Song at 42 minutes.
Margo paints a picture with her voice, you are transported to another time and place. Just awesome!
After all these years Margot Timmins is still one of the most beautiful women alive.
Amen to that. I'm in love.
Nice people too. Had the honor of meeting them several times after shows, even help cook dinner for them once. Just simply cool people to interact with.
Just seen them last week and you are not wrong bud!
Pheee….nominal. I’m gonna b stuck watching/listening to this for a LONG time!! thanks CJ.
The effects from that 4 string mandolin are insanely good.
Actually, I believe Cowboy Junkies, are Heaven sent! 😅
Wow...what a lucky "stumble upon" . This band is so cool. Tight and unique. I love the cadences the singer uses.

The very best performance I've seen of Draggin Hooks!

Anyone knows who’s on keyboards?
He should be Richard Bell.
