I've always liked Margo. It's obvious she's a good person to go along with her brilliant talents as a musician. She's one of the best vocalists in the history of Rock & Roll, and she is still so beautiful.
Read the lyrics of both songs - songs are the same but completely different- same hook - intros on both are different- look at Velvet Undergrounds version, with Lou reed.
It's hard not to love those guys. Been a fan since the 80s. Seen them many times and they are so sweet and humble yet can rock so hard. It seems Margo is the front woman as far as the public, but if I ever saw her brother who wrotes all the songs I'd have to tell him how much I appreciate his work.
I went to a Philip glass session once. Big fan of his music. And he was sitting in the center of this nyc venue called The Cave. But what threw me off during the entire set was Lou Reed sitting opposite me in the audience, just blending in, and I couldn’t stop staring at him listening to Glass play the piano. He smiled at me towards the end. Just a normal guy. This CJ version of Sweet Jane is in my top 10. Completely timeless.
I met Margo after a Toad's Place gig in New Haven April '96 on their Lay it Down tour. Got a Polaroid taken with her that I still have. Sweet Sweet Margo. She was very welcoming and open and great with fans, as was the band. And, she's really short! Hehe..but has a tall voice of silk.
I had the pleasure of working on one of their shows when I was living in Toronto at the time and meeting Margo before the concert, she autograph my Trinity Session vinyl .........that was for me one of the highlight of my career.
Im a fan! Your version is such an addition to the original. It shows how wonderful covers really can be! I fell in love with the velvets version 1st when i heard cowboy junkies version I fell even more in love with the original! But the song will never really be the same for me its added another dimension! Its almost an answer to the question that was asked in the original version!!! The fact its sung by a female voice in the junkies version adds empathy. Could Lou Reed empathize truly with sweet jane? No but your sweet jane did truly. Thank you for the music!
Just heard them from across the river at our annual folkfest! (Great times chillin and listening there when I can’t afford to go in) they started with SJ & it drifted across the water like a summer breeze...
One of my favorite bands and vocalists. I love that she considers meeting Lou Reed to be the highlight of her career. I imagine that hearing such a lovely version of his song was a highlight for him as well.
I remember when this came out, maybe 1989. And the singer was so pretty, yet she had this drone about her...definitely different than what was on MTV, which were hairband groups
For sure! I think she looks fabulous; I love how the song came together over time and was presented when they knew it was right. Bravo CJ.. Thank you Margo for stepping forward and propelling CJ to a place that your listeners hold very dear to their hearts. IO am looking forward to seeing the Cowboy Junkies this October.. for the 1st time!
Misguided Angel was the hit on Trinity Sessions which made those on the University/College circuits notice Cowboy Junkies. Sweet Jane was sparse music in comparison. As I remember it, Much Music would not play them, saying they were too slow. Only after they were popular on college radio was there sufficient demand that they leaked over into mainstream music. Maybe in the US Sweet Jane had more of an impact because of the Lou Reed connection, but not as much in Canada. It was a good recording, as are all the songs on Trinity Sessions, but at least in my mind I was buying the album that had Misguided Angel on it.
Absolutely love this lady, have done for years. One of my fave vocalists of all time✌️🇦🇺

Lou Reed wrote Sweet jane and performed it brilliantly but Margo Timmins and the Cowboy Junkies nailed it. Great song. Thank you.

Lou Reed said the Cowboy Junkies vsrrsion was that best. It really captured the essence of the sing.
Margo's voice is like soft waves on a beach or a lullaby in the summer sky.
Margo's speaking voice is lovely.
The Cowboy Junkies' cover of Sweet Jane was shoegaze before shoegaze was a thing. Simply perfection.

Loved these musicians since '86!
Thank you Timmons family.well done
I love the Cowboy Junkies so much. The Caution Horses is one of my favorite albums. So happy I got to see them live once.
Best version of the song imho. My daughter is called Jane and she is the sweetest
This is great

So real, so humble!! So beautiful.

Very cool to hear that insight. I loved this song and album in college when it came out and still do today!
One of my fave singers....
Beautiful

how sweet!
I love it when musicians and artists give their "Propers"!!!
She is so bloody Canadian! Goodness
Very cool. Love hearing the thoughts of an artist that so appreciates the foundation of a successful career.
Lou Reed has stated that Cowboy Junkies cover of "Sweet Jane" is his favourite.
I said this before & I'll say it again: Margo rules!!!!!
I think I just fell in love again ,
I adore this lady ❤️🎶
Agreed🥁🥁🥁
Margo brought such a sultry sweet sexiness to this song .
Margo was very sexy in her video, and she still looks good!
On Johnny Carson show she was so beautiful, stole the show that night ❤️
Love em……every album.
Wow!😍
really nice story
Awesome
Other than the hair colour, she looks the same to me. I didn’t listen to their music, but always recognized her on MuchMusic videos.
Her gray is perfect.
It wasn't 'Sweet Jane' that sold me on this album. It was 'Working On A Building!'
I love this album cause from what I understand it was recorded using only one microphone.
I remember when this came out, maybe 1989. And the singer was so pretty, yet she had this drone about her...definitely different than what was on MTV, which were hairband groups
On Johnny Carson show she stole the show, absolutely stunning and vocal was right on point ❤️🎶
@@benpotaka5893 and she STILL looks stunning!
Respect and mucho kudos
My god, is she beautiful.
Sweet Jane is your best....
Growing old gracefully. A lot of women could take her example here.
No choice.

Lou Reed, amazing ❤
LOU REED HIMSELF SAID SHE DID THE MOST AUTHENTIC VERSION AND HE LIKED THEIR VERSION BEST!!
He's wrong
Luv ya!
Even Lou Reed likes your version 😉
💙
I wonder if she knows how many lives in which she's part of the soundtrack? And Kim Alexis.

She used to be an usher at Roy Thomson Hall
my gosh was it really 1990/91?
Smoky and finely aged.
Beautifull Women?? YOU are pretty damned good looking yourself toots....and a great singer! gl
no, most people connect the song to Lou Reed TY
I remember the hype sticker on the CD said "The best version of Sweet Jane I've ever heard...-Lou Reed"
True!
When did her hair color turn all gray??? She's not that old??? What happened to her long curly brown locks???
This song came out 31 years old, and she was probably 23 or 24...She got older, and going gray goes with it
Margo is 60 years old. Unless you dye your hair, it turns grey. Also, if you drop an object, it will generally hit the ground due to gravity.
She has aged beautifully...
@@elmoblatch9787😅😂😅😂
Marry me..
Her version is better than Lou Reeds.....and most agree.
"It certainly did its job" , "I owe my house to it;" Fine, but IMO, "Misguided Angel" and "Southern Rain" were much better songs.
Love racist album titles. Real class act. Even if she thinks they were being funny.
The Trinity session?
Explain. Or get bent.
Isn’t ‘Whites Off Earth Now‘ the exact opposite of racist? Or am I getting something wrong…
@@AnnaLVajda probably Whites Off Earth Now, lol. I'd say "racist" is a reach but I definitely want to know why they went with that title
Classy lady.
