Australian Royal Air Force is being trained on the new F35s through the end of the calendar year 2023. Delivery of the F35s won't happen until later winter 2024 (February). As such training of the Ukrainians will not be fruitful until the F18s are ready for transfer in February or March 2024. If they can hold out till then, which is not likely.
Australia has around 40 they retired in 2021. It is not dependent on the arrival of f35s. Australia is willing to send them as soon as possible and apparently the US has okayed the transfer. There may be other contractual considerations. The Australian government has bipartisan support for Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦
main speculation about the ATACMS is that they are no longer in production and the new PrsM missile production dosn't start until early 2024. so the theory is that the US is glad to supply shotrer range missiles since they are in production, but the US Department of Defense has vetod any talk of large numbers of ATACMS deliveries until they get a new missile production going

Unfortunately, things like Abrams tanks or Leopard and Challenger tanks for that matter, are not in any sense a game changer in the war in Ukraine. I am sure they are superior to the best tanks Russia has in the field but there are rarely any tank on tank duels so they won't get the chance to show it. In the south of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are faced with mine fields, kilometres deep and entrenched Russian positions armed with anti-tank weapons. Tanks are also assailed with Russia's Lancet drones which are quite capable and disabling the tanks, if the mines haven't already done that, and then they are finished off with artillery and mortars. Tanks do not survive long in this environment. The Russians also have some superiority in the air, unlike the overwhelming aerial dominance that America normally has. Throughout this Ukrainian offensive, the Ukrainians have faced criticism they are moving too slow and also throwing away all of these wonderful Western armaments with no appreciation of the difficulties they face.

There is politics in play, the Australian Royal Air Force willing to send there two F16 and F18 squadrons as soon as their pilots are fully trained on the new F35s. That training process runs through the calendar year of 2023. Delivery of the new F35s to Australia is sometime in late winter (early 2024). With that said the Pentagon does not have high confidence that Ukraine can hold out through the winter. Some estimates are starting late Fall or early winter negotiations for peace may start. As such it's better to take a wait and see stance on training. Similar to the 25 Abrams tanks that were promised mid winter and have not even shipped.
You can't negotiate peace in Ukraine because Russia time and time again has broken each cease fire and peace agreement. Infact if a peace agreement was reached it would just let Russia regroup get better logistical support then break the reached agreement again for 5th time.

Ukraine keeps systematically targeting their logistics. Roads, bridges, ammo/fuel depots and command centers. The 2 million land mines that the Russians put on the Southern front has slowed down the advance of the Ukrainians but they still advance. Ukraine has already pierced the Surovikhin line near Robotyne and in the direction of Verbove. It's merely a matter of time before they widen this breakthrough and start to advance to the Azov Sea. In the meantime, Russia has surpassed over 250k Russian KIA and the Black Sea Fleet keeps losing ships to cheaply constructed drones. The Russians can't even guard the port cities in their own territory anymore.

All it takes is a small amount of piercing through the line of thick landmines, and then they can start pushing it outwards from those points to allow even more troops and equipment through. Wishing them all the best. The big point, apart from obviously reclaiming Crimea, will be to see Ukrainian forces setting foot and eventually taking back Mariupol and Azovstal.

"American journalists spent some time in several Ukrainian brigades formed for the counteroffensive and trained in Western countries.
They note that a number of commanders are from English-speaking countries, and one of the brigades has an evangelist chaplain. All military personnel complain about heavy losses in the brigades. Unfortunately, things like Abrams tanks or Leopard and Challenger tanks for that matter, are not in any sense a game changer in the war in Ukraine. I am sure they are superior to the best tanks Russia has in the field but there are rarely any tank on tank duels so they won't get the chance to show it.
In the south of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are faced with mine fields, kilometres deep and entrenched Russian positions armed with anti-tank weapons. Tanks are also assailed with Russia's Lancet drones which are quite capable and disabling the tanks, if the mines haven't already done that, and then they are finished off with artillery and mortars. Tanks do not survive long in this environment. The Russians also have some superiority in the air, unlike the overwhelming aerial dominance that America normally has.
Throughout this Ukrainian offensive, the Ukrainians have faced criticism they are moving too slow and also throwing away all of these wonderful Western armaments with no appreciation of the difficulties they face.

There is politics in play, the Australian Royal Air Force willing to send there two F16 and F18 squadrons as soon as their pilots are fully trained on the new F35s. That training process runs through the calendar year of 2023. Delivery of the new F35s to Australia is sometime in late winter (early 2024).
With that said the Pentagon does not have high confidence that Ukraine can hold out through the winter. Some estimates are starting late Fall or early winter negotiations for peace may start. As such it's better to take a wait and see stance on training. Similar to the 25 Abrams tanks that were promised mid winter and have not even shipped.

You can't negotiate peace in Ukraine because Russia time and time again has broken each cease fire and peace agreement. Infact if a peace agreement was reached it would just let Russia regroup get better logistical support then break the reached agreement again for 5th time.

In the past few days, Ukraine has damaged Russia in such a way that now this war has become a slaughtering blood bath. Every time Russia sends more warships, more jets, more military personnel, etc, seems to me that Ukraine bombs them before they can even get to their destination. Why does Putin continue to send troops to Ukraine, knowing from recent activity that they most likely will be killed? I can’t imagine what those troops must be thinking when they get orders to go to Ukraine, probably knowing they will never get to go back home. What a devastation this war has been for Russia and Ukraine, and MUST END!!!!

Ukraine keeps systematically targeting their logistics. Roads, bridges, ammo/fuel depots and command centers. The 2 million land mines that the Russians put on the Southern front has slowed down the advance of the Ukrainians but they still advance. Ukraine has already pierced the Surovikhin line near Robotyne and in the direction of Verbove. It's merely a matter of time before they widen this breakthrough and start to advance to the Azov Sea.
In the meantime, Russia has surpassed over 250k Russian KIA and the Black Sea Fleet keeps losing ships to cheaply constructed drones. The Russians can't even guard the port cities in their own territory anymore.

All it takes is a small amount of piercing through the line of thick landmines, and then they can start pushing it outwards from those points to allow even more troops and equipment through. Russian mines and artillery fire are having a massively negative impact on the counteroffensive as time and the weather begins to turn against it, on top of Ukraines unaffordable losses in manpower and donated equipment across the front lines.

As anticipated as it was, us onlookers and the ones paying for this war were expecting much more results. Even the Ukrainians say their counter offensive is behind schedule. I never said the fighting was over but summer is closer to it’s end than it’s start and it’s pretty safe to say that this thing did not go as planned for Ukraine and the west.

Russia is getting absolutely wrecked by Ukraine. Destroyed destroyers, Moscow getting hit every other day, almost a quarter million Russians dead in just a year and a half. Absolutely wrecked
