- Several countries including Turkey and Russia are offering to help find a helicopter carrying Iran's president Ebrahim Raisi after it went down on Sunday. Search teams are scouring a fog-covered mountain near the country's border with Azerbaijan. Officials say Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter was forced to make a 'hard landing' in the area but offered no further details. Iran's foreign minister was said to be traveling with Raisi. Both were on their way back from inaugurating a hydroelectric dam project.

almost zero chance of foul play. that fog will keep search efforts nearly impossible till it clears up. I've traveled in fog for a decade and I know zero visibility when I see it and speeds above even 35 mph are dangerous and this would have been closer to 100 + mph.

Flying in those conditions is either very brave or alternatively extremely foolish. Those helicopters look ancient and flying without visibility in a mountainous terrain is asking for trouble. No doubt there is a lot of Iranians hoping it was more than just a hard landing.
