Unless the West is willing to accepts what may actually be a pre taken decision in the Kremlin and likelihood of getting into nuclear , it for tat, Putin's forces could not be conventionally attacked by the West in retaliation for a tactical nuclear weapon use against the Ukrainian army .No one explains why in the final analysis Putin may be assumed to prefer swallowing a humiliating defeat than using a small specimen of his weapons of last resort as a hard either/ or reality therapy for the West. You cannot fight nuclear weapons conventionally. We have a handle on what Putin will or will not dare do in the events of Feb 2022 have made clear that the current leadership in the Kremlin is very far from being risk averse when things begin to go against them.

      Yeah, it's the ditches, the dragon's teeth and minefields (and barbed wire, etc.) that are there to slow down an enemy advance while you can then pound them relentlessly with artillery and from MG points as they try to muddle their way through all those barriers. While any decent MBT can just push dragon's teeth aside (when not buried, as is the case here), if you first have to cross some ditches, AT minefields and dodge incoming artillery and ATGMs, the dragon's teeth are the least of your problems. Demining takes time even when you're not being relentlessly shelled.

      It's not a single thing that's the problem, it's all of them (barriers, trenches, mines) in cobination with RPG wielding soldiers (in the trenches) and attack helicopters, that make the advance either slow or very costly.
      On a positive note, it's likely that once Ukraine passes those defences and gets the supply lines in range of ordinary artillery and move air defence systems closer to the front, the frontline will crumble.
      So far Ukraine has done a great job in destroying local supply dumps and destroy them again and again (hence the need for just-in-time supply lines), they also crippled several choke points for supplies from Russia proper.
      Ukraine doesn't even need to take supply centres, like Tokmak, they only need to cut off the routes leading in and out. Let's not forget the fact, that Russian troops in Ukraine are well aware that they are an unwelcome invader in a foreign country. Vladolf Putler's propaganda doesn't work on them, anymore.

This isn't a race nor I am not aware of any dealines plus WW2 wasn't won in a few weeks and they didn't have a enemy that had the threat of nucluear weapons. That’s why when stockpiles of weapons does reach a concerning level is when all help will stop. And if they can’t produce fast enough then help will definitely end. That’s why Ukraine will not win over Russia. Because all of these “help” will eventually end. Russia can afford to wait until help ends or Ukraine is completely demilitarizes that no amount of aid will help them. That’s the reality of this war.

    So until news broke of these extraordinary developments in Russia, the focus in that region had been on this counteroffensive launched by Ukraine. Slower than desired - that's how Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized it earlier this week. He added, quote, "Some people believe this is a Hollywood movie and expect results now. It's not." Ukrainian forces are reported to have recaptured several villages, but there's been no major breakthrough.

    • @cashaeleatemla
      @cashaeleatemla 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The other thing is that the Ukrainians are not terribly well-trained. They've expanded their forces greatly. The United States and NATO have trained some of these units, but not very many. What they're trying to do is very complicated. The military calls it combined arms. That is, you have to get all of the different combat arms working together. The infantry has to work with the artillery and the tanks and the engineers. And that takes a lot of training. It's very difficult, and the Ukrainians are struggling with that.

    • @cashaeleatemla
      @cashaeleatemla 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They could be used for offensive purposes, but the area over the battle zone is very dangerous for aircraft. The Russians aren't using their aircraft there. The Ukrainians haven't been using theirs very much there. The ground-based air defenses are very powerful. So F-16s, if they got there, would be most valuable in protecting cities, not for helping an offensive.

    • @cashaeleatemla
      @cashaeleatemla 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Ukrainians do need to show some progress. The risk is that if they don't, then their supporters in the West and their own people will get discouraged. This will look like a forever war and advocates for immediate negotiations and the cease-fire will get stronger.

      First of all it goes against military logic and doctrine to launch a counteroffensive with no air superiority even at local level. Also Ukraine does not have enough heavy weaponry for such a counteroffensive despite the west publicised military aid in tanks etc. People are getting too caught up with the ridiculous amount of territory recaptured or regained. That is a secondary military operation. Remember a lot of regained territory is just destroyed villages and hamlets and burned out fields. The military aim is to destroy Russian personnel and equipment in these areas. You have to inflict severe losses on the enemy and erode and degrade his capability of waging war.
