Hi Matty, what blade would you recommend for stihl saw when cutting porcelain? I'm just about to do my first porcelain patio only 18m2, and I've been told its a nightmare to cut, although you make it look so easy 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Love the vid bud. Looking at doing my own so watching loads of videos . Quick question sorry if it’s something obvious . Obviously working from your drain away and a slight slope but how much slope do you know what to give . Do you use a certain bit on your level or ? Cheers in advance mate
Thanks for watching mate. You’re looking for 1 in 80 minimum. You can calculate this over your area and set a line up, then work across at 90 degrees with the level. Patio is best level across the house and falling away, or of the ground is higher at the back of the garden, fall towards the house and lay an ACO and tap into the rainwater system Thanks
That job is impeccable mate 👌🏻👌🏻 Can the semi dry mix that Craig is spreading be laid out prior to the actual laying of the stones? Cos I’m on my own, it will be difficult to be making two different mixes, laying out, slurrying and laying the slabs. If I could lay the semi dry the day before and bring it up to level that would make life a lot easier?
Hi James, thank you very much for the comment and for watching, it’s great hearing feedback like that. Thank you. Okay, I hear you.....if you get your sub base right then you won’t need to do this. I did that on the video to show how you can overcome the issue of your base being a bit low, it’s always better to be a tad low if anything as it’s easier to build up, then to reduce. I’d suggest just spending time to get your base as accurate as possible then you can just use the mix directly onto it. Hope that helps 👍
@@Brockstonepavingpros Thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. The base was laid a year ago when the extension was done (we couldn't afford the patio then) so the sub base is rock solid (and has had a years worth of weather and rain on it.) I'll build it up with the mix directly then and be careful when using the rubber mallet. Thanks again
Hello, I have a 30m2 beam and block patio area, built as part of my extension. I’m thinking of ideas and ways in which to finish this area and how to approach it with the block and beam. The B&B naturally has a little flex in it therefore I want to proceed with the correct method to ensure tiles and joints don’t crack. I’m looking at a porcelain tile finish. Will this require a fibre screed like I had internally then to lay the porcelain with a cement mix? Advice would be useful from anyone who has experience of this. Thanks
I’ve watched this video a few times now, really decent finish. How you you level the patio? Do I’m you I’ve a laser level or just string lines and levels?
Great video and very helpful can I ask tho iv got to do my own, now the garden is running towards the house and I will lay a aco 1 inch down from dpc then level left to righ then I was going to make a temp peice of wood at the higher end as a dead man and just lay to the line from aco to wood does that sound right ? Anyways thank you for the video I will get a sponge and bucket of water ready for any sbr staining
Yes mate that sounds right. Although it should be 2 courses (150mm) down from the dpc not 1 inch. Just make sure you get enough fall on it. But yeah, a line from A to B is fine, just mate sure it’s tight as possible
@@supertrowel1 yes we have done that in those situations but have to advise against it as it’s not the correct way (going by regs) The architects always spec an ACO with a slight gap off the building and fall away from the house.

@@Brockstonepavingpros hey mate what is setts? Could you let me know the full product name im about thick 😂😂😂
@@craigorange9055 setts are small pieces of stone, usually less than about 200mm
@@Brockstonepavingpros thanks for your speedy reply. Im going to use the fuggabella. Did you use a string-line or just by using the spirt level?
Great work lads, very professional job. Can you tell me what the purpose of the primer is and is it a watery mix of cement and water?
Cheers!
It’s a primer to bond the flag to the bed, essential when using porcelain👍
lovely work lads you work well together ....👍👍👍
Cheers fella 🙌
Love you videos lads, smashing craftsmanship. What fall do you have do you recommend
Thank you Ken. 1:100 minimum 👍👍 more on block paving & Indian stone
So you mark on level or is it in string line?? Am a tiler so I am consistently working on perfect level, just interested as I have been getting a lot of calls on outdoor porcelain
Nice tidy job mate.love the accent.
Haha nice one Dave
All the best 👍👍
Hey Buddy - great work- fair play to you 👏 👍 👌 what is that sax song 🎵 playing at 4:50 - try to find it .. but can't.. help
Hi Matty, what blade would you recommend for stihl saw when cutting porcelain? I'm just about to do my first porcelain patio only 18m2, and I've been told its a nightmare to cut, although you make it look so easy 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Hello Joe, it’s fine to cut mate, don’t let that put you off.
Try elite stone tools, speak to Henry, tell him I sent you, he’ll look after you 👍
@@Brockstonepavingpros thanks for getting back to me, i give them a ring tomorrow pal 👍
Great video , gonna use this as my guide to when I do mine ... one little thing , your mics a tad low :)
Thank you.
I’m new to this game (TH-cam not paving 😂) it’s something I’ve improved on now in my latest videos.
Thanks buddy
Excellent video proper job too👍🔥
Thank you Andy, appreciate you watching our work 🙌
Hi mate, great work. How do you know the levels your slabbing too? Did you just take the level of the aco drain and chase it right through? Thanks
Level across and falling away from the house 👍
Love the vid bud. Looking at doing my own so watching loads of videos . Quick question sorry if it’s something obvious .
Obviously working from your drain away and a slight slope but how much slope do you know what to give . Do you use a certain bit on your level or ?
Cheers in advance mate
Thanks for watching mate.
You’re looking for 1 in 80 minimum. You can calculate this over your area and set a line up, then work across at 90 degrees with the level.
Patio is best level across the house and falling away, or of the ground is higher at the back of the garden, fall towards the house and lay an ACO and tap into the rainwater system
Thanks
it looks fun, super interesting.
Wow Looks great.
Thank you Liz
Do you lay paving in winter when night temperature is freezing
Only if it’s covered up well. But not in the day if it’s freezing
@Brockstonepavingpros thank you for your reply
That job is impeccable mate 👌🏻👌🏻
Can the semi dry mix that Craig is spreading be laid out prior to the actual laying of the stones?
@@jamesdavies810 perfect then. Ideal sub base! All the best
Hello,
I have a 30m2 beam and block patio area, built as part of my extension.
Yeah just levels and lines mate. We have a dumpy level too for setting out
Nice one mate, really helpful 👍
@@Brockstonepavingpros oh I just thought as there is a aco against the building I could raise the patio
@@supertrowel1 yes we have done that in those situations but have to advise against it as it’s not the correct way (going by regs) The architects always spec an ACO with a slight gap off the building and fall away from the house.
@@Brockstonepavingpros ok great thank you il look at videos of this situation.I have been searching for videos that are from the very start first day and setting out pegs for levels and transferring them I can’t find any so this might be a great video for someone like yourself to help others with.Anyway keep up the good work I have subscribed.Thank you 👍
@@supertrowel1 you’re welcome mate. Really? Find that surprising. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll get onto that soon. Thanks
Great video mate. You mentioned using a semi-dry mix where the sub-base dips, what ratio are you using for this? Cheers!
Thanks mate. Same as the bedding mix mate, 5-1 👍
How did you prepare the sub-base?
What's the space for each pavers
good info la, were are in same game am on wirral nice vids intresting even tho i no how i like ur method most ppl in business these days still treat it as some sort of secret how they think its done !keep up the good work mate
