As a machinist, we'll use cryo for parts that we need to not ever "move" for long life high precision parts, and while I am not a metallurgist, I'll explain the basic level I understand it. Cryo is used in conjunction with heat treatment to get more martensitic grain refinement (convert from Austenite more completely -- like 99 to 100% -- than regular heat treating alone). It also relieves stresses in the metal and causes "thin film phenomenon" where minute carbide particles precipitate to the surface during the process, giving more wear resistance without increasing brittleness. Imagine a vapor deposited diamond like coating but all the way through the metal. It's also going to help resist "fire cracking" extending the barrel life. Hope I didn't put anyone to sleep or go too far into the weeds. Is it necessary? Perhaps not in this application, but it is an "edge" over the competition.

redleg1013 I saw a video (I think learning channel I think) which said cryo "aligns the molecules of the metal" thus "increasing" accuracy. I'm not enough of a scientist in ANY area to know if there's any truth to it, but it makes sense...

As a canadian shooter, I wanted a canadian action/rifle. Deadline seemed to be a good option for me until I listen to this video! Thanks John for the review! I think that Ultimatum should provide a turkey solution for their customers. There's simply too many sand in the gears for now. I ended up with a Cadex rifle build... Still a canadian company with solid value.

How do you like the cadex? I'm debating between the deadline or a sheepdog myself. Like the idea of prefits so u can swap calibers.

@@TwoTopKings My cadex is the most accurate rifle that I own. The action goes well but still a little heavy to lift and sometimes rude to ride. The rep at Cadex suggested me to lube the body + the lugs with a silicone cloth to make it slick. It worked but whatever the lube I put on, the action works great for the day but is bad the next day. Like if the lube dries off and become sticky over time… I Don't know why? I'm still looking for a good lube that works ok over time. Other than that, it's build like a tank!

I finally bought a deadline also! Will receive it in couple days. I will pair it with a MPA chassis, people with this duo seems to not have any issue with fitting the action or feeding the rounds.

Had exactly the same problem with the Howa action and AIS mag and mag latch. MDT stated they never had this reported before. Shortened the latch as advised . Then the mag locked in but skipped over the round. Reverted to the polymer mag and new latch abd all was good. Thanks for confirming my sanity. Love you vids bud lots of great info. Cheers

For the price Ultimatum is charging, this action needs to look and feel perfect. Too many other good options out there for the same price or less that don’t have the issues that have plagued the Deadline.

I’m always impressed at how thorough you are with reviews. I like how you lay out all the issues and fixes. I like the high end builds. I am just curious if you have considered doing a savage build now that you have had such a good experience with the savage style barrel?

With the Triggertech installed in the trigger hanger, do you find there is some wobble or play until the action is cocked? Then under spring tension of the sear it’s solid?

I have a MDT ESS for my 700, and I was looking at doing a custom build using the chassis as a base, but the fitting issues you had have me wary of using the Ultimate Deadline. What other 700 pattern custom actions would you recommend for use in the ESS?

I thought he was going to talk about how it performed... then it turned into yet another product description and pitch. Watched it on 2x and still just blah blah blah... repeating the same stuff and everything is "really nice" which tells us nothing.
