    LOP-wuh. I learned the same way, watching Lapua reps in SHOT Show interviews. Now let's help these guys that say Horniday and Lee-upold.

    Proper torque for a barrel nut - somewhere between a grunt to a grunt and a half.

    So Ultimatum took the Bighorn TL3 and made it a 60 degree throw and left out the controlled feed feature. Anything I missed?

    As for the pronunciation of Lapua, all those complaining need to chill out. American English has official rules for pronunciation, the rules have exceptions and we like to throw in silent letters just for fun, so when you overcome of these you may have earned the privilege of commenting ones pronunciation of a foreign word. We even pronounce words the same that have different spellings and meanings, e.g., to, too, and two.

    Accuracy International did a very interesting test with fluting the barrels by putting lasers on the receiver and the barrel and see how they diverge when they heat up

    John your explanation of installing a remage/ Savage pre fit is all correct other than I have talked with gunsmiths and a couple different manufacturers of actions and that it is possible to do it in a manner where the barrel is locked down in a barrel Vise but when you go to tighten down the barrel nut you need to have a way of keeping the action in place that way when you torque down the barrel nut it doesn't make the action move while torquing it down. They highly recommended that you use an action wrench to keep the action in place while torquing the barrel nut down to keep it from moving. Traditionally with Savage actions and even now the Ruger precision rifle guys do not use action wrenches but when talking about high-end Precision actions such as the Bighorn arms you want to have a way of keeping an action in place when torquing the nut down.

    Can you have multi barrels milled at once or will the receiver change enough between barrels?

    I'm running 2 LW handlapped match stainless......they are very hard and eat finishing reamers but they are v accurate and durable. I also run shielen but my new favorite is bergarra for value and accuraccy. Ed Sheilen set up the factory in spain using tolledo steel.

    Have you ever experienced barrel speed up? I bought a new prefit x-caliber barrel (26'') and it was 80fps slower than the original savage(24''). i have 60 rounds through the new one and it has sped up 30 fps so far. its a 6.5 creedmoor. thanks for the great show

    • @MrMalicious5
      @MrMalicious5 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ryan Bowers Happens with new barrels all the time. Mine sped up 70fps after 150 rounds or so.

    • @ryridesmotox
      @ryridesmotox 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happens when the copper and powder fouling helps seal the barrel against the bullet. Runs a consistent fps and accuracy until fouling is too much, then it will be inconsistent again. At that point, clear all the fouling and start over.

    Thinking of building a rifle. Would it just be better to have a dedicated rifle per caliber (one .308, one long action like a .300/.338 Norma Magnum) or could I get away with one rifle and multiple barrels + bolt faces?

    Be careful torturing the barrel nuts with factor savage nuts. I have seen several crack so always double / triple check them after torturing. It can be a hairline crack. I’d recommend replacing barrel nut to aftermarket if you’re going to be changing barrels out.

    • @bvhnightmare
      @bvhnightmare 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Schneible I ordered mine off the shelf from Northland Shooters Supply. I did not order custom from Criterion. Took about a week. Load work was basic. I do not chase loads. If it shoots decent I run with it.

      Yes. “Weight” is the key. Not diameter.

      8541 Tactical Sweet, the lower weight of the standard AR-15 platform is really compelling if the performance is there.

    Pronunciations are trivial when you are speaking in your native language primarily to you native audience. Its just people trying to re-write American English for their comfort. How you pronounce something in your own native language to your own native people is nobody's business. We don't get mad when foreign people say "America" instead of "Murica." Now the only exception is if you were trying to learn their language to converse with them directly. That's the only time correct pronunciations of that language's words are important, because that's how they understand them.

    I ordered the deadline action around a month ago, let's see how things gonna go!
    Question, for PRS bolt action guns, when picking muzzle break, what should I look for? Like ability to stay on target vs. recoil reduce

    Thanks for putting all these videos up, I enjoy watching them and find them very informative. Just a question about a topic that hasn't been covered in a while. You had a Grayboe stock that you were going to review on your 300 Win Mag Long Range 700 project, but in the last video, you had it in a chassis. I never saw a review on the Grayboe stock other than just your initial impressions in your first video about the stock. Will you be doing an update video on the stock at some point in the future?
