My take on the ending on why it just keeps going (and if the woman’s story is a direct reference to Johnny being the bear) is the director knows as an audience we are expecting something horrible to happen. We are tense and on edge (like our final girl) but they’re driving so far from Johnny it doesn’t make sense for him to pop out. Her anxiety and when’s the bad thing going to happen is reflected in the viewer. At least that’s what I took from it.
I had a weird situation where i had to pause the movie right as the final act started, so when I came back to it the next day I was supremely on edge for what was going to happen. the moment i realized that the director had successfully made me feel the same kind of anxious terror of the final girl, it really clicked to me how intentional it was. I see how some say its too much of a departure from the rest of the movie, but I think it makes it a better overall deconstruction of slasher movies. Like, "here is what is the implied reality of these movies," and then last act is "here is what actually happens to survivors of extreme violence"
I remember watching that yoga scene and i was like i can't wait for yall to react to that. It was so nasty. Possibly one of the craziest kills i ever seen 😂
I absolutely adore this movie. I know it's divisive, but I love the cinematography and ambient noise. It's a great homage to 80s slashers, and I appreciate the fresh take on the POV in the film. I heard they might make a sequel
I appreciate the final sequence on rewatch. When the truck stops to bandage the leg we're all on edge waiting for Johnny to suddenly be there for a final kill, even though we know thats impossible because of the distance travelled. But thats now going to be a fear she'll carry the rest of her life...always waiting for him to catch up to her. So creepy. (But also just a nice treat to see Lauren Marie Taylor again)
In the movie The House That Jack Built (the best serial killer movie in the world) Jack also mentions the the henhouse syndrome to Virgil as they go down to hell.
That long walk after the yoga kill where he has to get his axe is where it kinda hits you that this is what Michael and Jason has to deal with in all their movies in that their lives are f***ing boring and every once in a while they can get proactive and kill people and its hilarious
I thought abt this too, like he’s just so bored that he has to come up with new and ‘creative’ ways to kill ppl, then he still just gets bored cuz it’s not exciting anymore 😂😂
Have you ever watched Behind the Mask? Because that film is almost exactly what you were discussing in the beginning about actually getting inside the head of what a slasher does. It's a fantastic movie for horror-heads.
The amount of gasped at the move theatre when the yoga scene happened and to make it funny some random guy yelled she’s fineeeee couldn’t help to laugh
Speaking on the movie from a killers eyes and the “it’s really hard what we have to go through” perspective, you guys should really watch Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. Even if not for the channel I think you guys would really enjoy it. It’s my favorite “satirical” horror
I think one of the meain points was just that slasher antagonists are mostly boring if you really think about what their lives (undeaths?) are actually like. I like the idea, but it would have worked better for me as a like 40 minute short.
i watched a couple of your horror reactions for the first time yesterday and went looking for this one. pre-empted myself by like twelve hours somehow. cheers to y'all :)
Like @paulinekeown2472 said, the lady who drives the final girl is from Friday the 13th part 2 - she was the cute brunette who had a crush on the guy in the wheelchair.
I was finally able to watch this movie the other day and the first thought i had was if you ever wondered what jason and Michael are doing before they pop out and get someone just watch this movie lol just alot of the killer walking around until the next kill. I thought it was interesting and different from other horror movies. Im just waiting for the sequel
fun fact: the killer in the movie is my co worker Ryan. him and his wife are both actors and i would consider this his big breakout movie. he already said they're working on a sequel.
I had to look up the yoga scene uncensored😭mannn i don’t remember it being THAT damn brutal the first time I watched this on shudder, was like some MK fatality shit frl
Alot of people didn't like this movie but I thought it was awesome. People were pissed cause they ripped off Friday the 13th but I'm ok with that cause it doesn't look like wer÷we're going to be getting a new Friday the 13th anytime soon. I liked Johnny and his fire mask. The kills were really inventive and unique. I really liked this movie.
Facts it was very interesting and different with still the normal slashers tropes and etc but the cinematography was amazing and john and Art are definitely my favourite new slashers
I appreciate what the filmmakers were trying to do here, so I don’t want to be too harsh on this movie, but I honestly feel like this was a cool idea for a 15 minute short film stretched out to 90 minutes. It’s so dull. And did they have to give him THAT mask? He looks like a Scooby Doo villain. Sucks all the menace out of him, for me.
To anyone who may disagree, I dare you to tell me I’m wrong. This film was masterfully done in such a brilliant way. Yes the acting may be a bit rough but hey these are fresh actors, some where this is like their first feature film. And maybe the plot itself is a bit unoriginal sure. But the way it’s shot, the way the director plays with the sounds and camera angles is so brilliant. And there are some very unique and well written moments in this film that truly bring a new taste to the slasher genre. 2024 was a YEAR for creative film work. I mean please try to tell me I’m wrong
I know you guys don’t really do a lot of music reactions anymore, but I really hope you check out the new ice nine kills, even on your own time. It is awesome!
For clarification, I'm pretty sure Johnny was *also* a grown man when he died, but had the intellect of a child due to his disability - that's why the loggers weren't as willing to forgive the accident as they would have with an actual kid. It's also why I genuinely loved the scene where he starts playing with the toy car - it shows the audience what he was like prior to his homicidal rage over his father's death, and hearing the dead dad mentioned is what refocuses him on the teens and his mother's locket. It's honestly a really sad scene when you stop and think about it. And with that last kill, it just occurred to me - the way the guy jumpscared Johnny is *very* reminiscent of how he died - no wonder he took it so personally!
The last dude who died must have pissed him off calling him ugly because he just KEPT GOING LMAAAOOOO. “IM NOT UGLY YOU FUCK, HERES YOUR ARM AND IMMA BEAT YOU WITH IT TIL YOURE A SLOSHY MESS!”
I wasn't sure how to feel about this movie but I watched it again and I love it. I love it from Johnny's pov and the kids are really just sort of awful and annoying. On the second watch I'm definitely team Johnny. Lol
For Friday the 13th content check out Never Hike Alone films, Never Hike Alone Never Hike in the Snow and never hike alone 2 . There working on a complete cut combining all the films to one long film for Blu-ray but it's fan films but yeah great Fan Friday the 13th they even have actors from the original films
My hot take: the yoga kill is not really much of a brutal kill. If the lady was not instantly dead from the belly punch, her spinal cord was severed and she wasn't feeling anything after. And the hook in the head definitely put her down. Everything that came after was just a brutal body mutilation that she didn't feel or was alive to realize.
Comments are all praising the ending but i found it to be insufferable & boring much like the film which i also found boring, insufferable, and extremely overrated. But if somebody loves it cool! good for them idc, i hated it but i’m not gonna shit on anyone who loves it we all have different tastes 🤷🏻♂️

Interesting.
That's exactly what I took from it, and I loved it. Felt so uneasy the whole time.

It's confirmed
The dvd should include a bonus commentary that’s just Cody narrating Jonny’s inner monologue 😆
This movie is basically a slasher movie in the middle of its own franchise, complete with a legacy character

Yoga girl got turned into a goddamn garlic knot 😂
Hahaha! That was good!
Fun fact: the woman at the end is Lauren-Marie Taylor. She played Vickie in Friday the 13th part 2.
Wow, deep cut. At least it wasn't the one girl who lied about her age and had to have her sex scene edited out.
that's awesome, justice for vickie!
Have you ever watched Behind the Mask? Because that film is almost exactly what you were discussing in the beginning about actually getting inside the head of what a slasher does. It's a fantastic movie for horror-heads.
Yes! Totally underrated horredy. You should cover it on the channel if you haven't seen it yet. Please!?!?
You me and the movies did that movie this year
The amount of gasped at the move theatre when the yoga scene happened and to make it funny some random guy yelled she’s fineeeee couldn’t help to laugh

Johns favorite film was despicable me, he always wanted to cosplay as a minion

So interested to see people react to this movie. I heard it moves slow because well... thats how killers move
i watched a couple of your horror reactions for the first time yesterday and went looking for this one. pre-empted myself by like twelve hours somehow. cheers to y'all :)
Like @paulinekeown2472 said, the lady who drives the final girl is from Friday the 13th part 2 - she was the cute brunette who had a crush on the guy in the wheelchair.
They should have named him Christopher, cause this dude was Walk'in
man i love the friday the 13th game. Weirdly enough you can still get lobbies fast even after the official servers were shut down

The timing of cody saying hell yeah.
Don't think he meant it that way I think 😂.
Minute 19:20

It's an homage more than a "rip-off", and I can appreciate that.
Been waiting for this🎉🎉
That yoga move is called head through the void...
The yoga scene is the only reason to watch this movie.
Loved this movie this and terrifier 3 are my 2 fav slasher/horror films of 2024
This is in my top 5 for sure. Mine are In A Violent Nature, Late Night with the Devil, Terrifier 3, The Substance, and V/H/S: Beyond.
Facts it was very interesting and different with still the normal slashers tropes and etc but the cinematography was amazing and john and Art are definitely my favourite new slashers
2:50 Have you two seen "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon"?
“Ya’ll seen my necklace?” 😂
I appreciate what the filmmakers were trying to do here, so I don’t want to be too harsh on this movie, but I honestly feel like this was a cool idea for a 15 minute short film stretched out to 90 minutes. It’s so dull.

Just watch Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and thank me, and everyone else who says to do the same thing, later. You won't regret it.

@@horrorclips7629 You're not wrong. I agree with you 100%
I love that yoga scene such a creative kill. I thought it was a fun movie.

KILL OF THE YEAR
this looks up my alley i have to watch it now!
I love this movie with all my heart! 🤘🏻
The last dude who died must have pissed him off calling him ugly because he just KEPT GOING LMAAAOOOO.
“IM NOT UGLY YOU FUCK, HERES YOUR ARM AND IMMA BEAT YOU WITH IT TIL YOURE A SLOSHY MESS!”
People say this movie has "repetitive walk cycles", but the whole idea is that it's a slasher movie from the slasher's prospective.
10/10; would group hug
I liked how unsettling the ending was. She'll be looking over her shoulder for a long time
I wasn't sure how to feel about this movie but I watched it again and I love it. I love it from Johnny's pov and the kids are really just sort of awful and annoying. On the second watch I'm definitely team Johnny. Lol
This movie is creative and brutal.
It is, I absolutely love it.
Yoga Hook Reaction🤮 0:22:17

Yes the modern Slasher
It’s so dark I can’t tell what the hell is happening
Ok shudder you guys should watch Mads, Superhost, and Azrael.
Hope you guys watch Strange Darling!
Kills get a big thumbs up and the just walking around for too long gets a thumbs down
One thing I don't like about this movie is the camera angles
Can you please Watch Terrifier 3
Oh we will as soon as it comes out digitally 😂
That's the only way I can see it too because none of my family will take me i already know

thanks for youre analyzation of the film!
Quite possibly one of the worst films ever made.
Poor mans Jason movie, movie was terrible.
