James A Janisse and his wife Chelsea talk about it on their podcast that the whole point of this movie is that when Michael and Jason arent killing, all they do is just slowly walk around and without the every once in awhile moments of making violent kills, their lives are f***ing boring and it's kinda hilarious
Yeah but Jason at least knew how to run and haul ahhs in a few of them early Friday films. Too bad out our big bad boy in this film didn’t get that memo.
Oooo that gives me a new perspective on it. That’s pretty funny. I can’t watch it again sober because I got bored pretty quick but I’m glad I saw it at least once! This comment makes me like it and appreciate it a bit more
My take on the ending on why it just keeps going (and if the woman’s story is a direct reference to Johnny being the bear) is the director knows as an audience we are expecting something horrible to happen. We are tense and on edge (like our final girl) but they’re driving so far from Johnny it doesn’t make sense for him to pop out. Her anxiety and when’s the bad thing going to happen is reflected in the viewer. At least that’s what I took from it.
Just watched Exhuma too and there was the same trope of explaining away a supernatural monster's killings as a wild animal on the rampage. Thought it was funny to see that twice in one day.
Oh i was just saying to myself "Boy i hope had to sit in watch this in a theater" Not being able to sit through something you find boring doesn't make you less of a horror fan BTW. (Thats a piss take)
@@paulinekeown2472wtf are you talking about ? Only people who can love and understand this garbage are director and writer ! I am horror fan and damm, i don’t remember when i watched something bad as this. Just bad !
you know what's cool? my coworker plays the killer in this. he works with me at a pub downtown Toronto. him and his wife are both actors. and it looks like things are taking off cause he just told me shudder is giving a violent nature a sequel
this movie did wonders on my adhd i was just watching it go on like these nature shots are pretty. then it reminded me "oh yeah this is a horror movie" and then I went right back into "ooo pretty forest."
I was surprised at how much i enjoyed this, especially on a rewatch. We're basically part 3 or 4 of a franchise where Johnny comes back every 10 years or so. We see the photo in the Rangers office of the staff of 1994, so we can assume the previous entry had those kids getting killed off, with the ranger in this movie being that final boy, a Tommy Jarvis type. We get the same back stories and drama from the campers but from a distance and just the highlights. Would be fun to see a prequel of one of those other times he came back. Glad you had fun. Thanks for sharing.
I love how divisive this one is, my friend and I actually didn’t mind it and we ended up enjoying it. Plus also hearing an interview with Ry Barrett (the guy who played Johnny) and he explained how his movements were inspired by Jason and Michael and the way he attacks was based off animal attacks made me fall in love with his performance even more. That yoga kill will stick with me for awhile too, yikes the effects were so gnarly but oh so good.
Yes,because telling people not to do something is often so effective Especially not to take jewellery left out in the woods with only a 'ghost' story as deterrent Would most like become the new tik tok trend to go do the 'locket challenge, slayy'
I lost it when Johnny started playing the toy car like he just wanted his toys and his moms necklace back 😭 I really enjoyed this movie even though I will admit it was slow at times but other than that had a good time! I thought it was cool it being from the killers perspective, the setting was gorgeous and the kills were intense especially with Brodie (the girl doing yoga) intense but creative? Like I didn’t expect it yet I don’t know why she didn’t try to run maybe she knew she was a goner and was like ‘fuck it I got no way I’m gonna die anyway’ idk lol 👀 We even got to go a nice stroll in nice weather with Johnny 😂
I know, I didn't understand her actions and expressions. Her face shows no emotion even when she's impaled. Then she just turns around?? And she's still expressionless looking at him? How did she not fall to the ground at that point? Even the guy in the beginning when Johnny had him against the tree he didn't flail or grab at his throat. Other than that the only other thing I hated was seeing Johnny's face. He was scarier faceless (and maskless, tbh.)
I think the ending was so long and drawn out as it was meant to subvert expectations and horror movies tropes, coz everyone is waiting for something to happen, and at least for me, I wondering if Johnny is going to somehow catch up to them, or the driver is actually working with the killer, or the final girl gets Johnny's spirit and becomes the killer. Tension and fear was created from our own imagination, which goes to show the effect horror movies have on viewers
You 2 need to watch Shudders “Host” my favorite horror found footage paranormal movie of all time! Filmed during lockdown by a group of friends and ended up being so amazing Shudder picked it up. It’s wild!
I found this one deceptively tranquil and relaxing in the way it was filmed. Oddly, in 4:3 aspect ratio as well. And it has a happy ending. LOL Dude got his property back.
Yeah, you can pretty much be a serial killer in the Sims. Build a creepy basement with a lot of tiny rooms. Lure your neighbors into those tiny rooms in your basement. Delete the doors, watch them die, collect ghosts. You now have a serial killer sim! (or use mods and kill frfr)
The ranger standing so close with a LONG RANGE WEAPON and the last guy also trying to distract the killer by standing like 2 steps away from him are definitely on the list of dumbest way to die in a horror movie.
3:35 There's a meme from a few years ago with the Grim Reaper in a Sims game being next to a character who's going into labor - and GR is freaking out because this is literally the opposite of his job
This movie truly feels like 2 movies in one. You have the POV from the killer, stalking the teens, walking around, doing his stuff and then, you have the POV from the survivors who are trying to survive, figure it out, get lore dump, etc. I love it, its such a interesting concept to have in a movie. The ending could have been cut all together, but still, amazing concept and execution.
when I watched it, I mentioned to my missus that a lot of the dialogue we hear in the movie is off camera. Usually in horror movies, we'd be seeing that those conversations and point of view of the victims. The shocking moment is when the killer shows up. But here we're seeing the point of the view of the killer, we see that most of the time, there's no method, (other than the car horn), he just walks up and starts killing. The end I thought was her staring into the woods expecting him to come out. She's just traumatized.
Hey guys i started following your channel because of your Buffy reactions i am glad you guys are enjoying it so far and please dont take this the wrong way in no means am i trying to suggest that you guys rush through the series but remember buffy is 7 seasons long and angel is an additional 5 seasons long and if we are only doing one or two episodes a week its going to take you guys about 2 years to finish both shows at that pace , Just saying if that's not a concern then more power to the both of you. 😂
I knew the type of movie I was waking into and while it had good kills, nice setting, tried something different with its premise of full pov perspective, and having a pretty good killer it was boring at times. Like the first few times where the killer is walking or chasing after someone I didn’t mind but other times I was like okay we get it can we move on. Those last 15 mins felt like forever I almost walked out of the movie but didn’t bc I thought something was gonna happen. If I had to rewatch this movie I would stop the movie when the “final girl” starts running away. My favorite kill was obviously the yoga kill never seen anything like that💀. 5/10
Can I recommend you the tv series Hannibal? It's horror, bloody juicy and soooooo queer. I think both of you will love it. 13 episodes for each three seasons, a must-watch!
Lol I enjoyed the edits you threw in for this one 😆 I love this movie. The beautiful nature and the WILD kills. Skipping the last 15 mins on rewatch though that's for sure. I think that bear attack story at the end was about Johnny and when he beat that dudes head in for 10 mins just showed how he's the animal.
I LOVED this movie. My only problem with it was there wasn’t enough scenes of Johnny walking through the woods. I could have done with some more! Seriously though I enjoyed it, there’s not much left to do in the slasher genre so I appreciate the idea and I found all the scenery quite relaxing 😎
i think the ending meant that she got away, but johnny is still loose out there, and that the story about the bear and the urban legend about it was hinting that maybe he is at rest again and if not perhaps his crimes will be attributed to a bear or rogue animal. I thought this was refreshing, i didnt mind the longer sequences of him walking, i loved overhearing snapshots of the victims, and those slower moments really worked to contrast the graphic style of the "kills". Poor johnny, kid just wanted a tonka truck.
Whats interesting is that we are seeing Johnny for the first time, but from the woods perspective this is almost the sequel or trilogy of events that Johnny has done.

Sounds like a cutaway on Family Guy. The mundane stretches in a serial killer life, taking out the trash and watching the news

Hold on. Is that why the lady speaks of a bear at the end?
They need a sign somewhere in those woods warning about "the curse of Johnny" or something lol. Explicitly stating "DO NOT take his necklace!"
Yes,because telling people not to do something is often so effective
Especially not to take jewellery left out in the woods with only a 'ghost' story as deterrent

This was beautifully shot and the sound design was amazing ✨
This whole movie should be "Johnny takes a nature stroll and kills people for 1 hour".
