Alex said that the next album wouldn't come out as long as it took for the car to come out, its already been two years since then so i'm pretty confident that it'll be announced later this year.
I wonder what they would write about. They were creating mad sounds in their early years, then they made "Mad Sounds". On Tranquility Base, they explored big ideas, then they made "Big Ideas". I'm not gonna be excited if their new songs are self-aware and meta. "2013" anyone? I hope they return to what their debut and TBH+C have in common which was witty observations in their respective worlds, be it Sheffield or a luxury stay on the moon.
From the photos of Alex spotted in NYC, it's definitely a Louise album. But I wouldn't be surprised if the band starts recording AM8 at the end of the year.
The gasp i gasped when i read the title. That’s kind of besides the point, but i think that the extended band is a great thing since we actually got great tracks, etc. Something I think that would be really cool could be like a second TBHC, not EXACTLY the same, but with a bit more rock in it? For example, maybe it’s how TBHC got created, or we explore another side (maybe an even darker side) of the album, etc. I’d really like to see another concept album even if it’s not TBHC2. Overall, i think whatever they are cooking is going to great and I honestly cannot wait to see them on tour again :)
Yeah same - think they only had them for the Dublin shows this time around but would love to see it for every show on the next tour - really adds a lot for me! Hope you enjoyed the vid 🙏🏾
tbh at this point i don’t even care if they make another album i’m satisfied with what we already have and they’ve done the MOST for us over the past 20 years. HOWEVER, I only got to see them live one time (the car tour) and i need AT LEAST one more tour 💔 pls
I only learned about them with Tranquility Base...and I ended up not seeing them during that tour, have only seen them August 2023 once. IOW...just like you, I need another tour pls pls pls!!
The extended band format with people on whatever instruments they want is really good for creativity and the act of actually completing an idea. Somebody can come up with something and then suddenly everyone else gets to add to that and there's no limitations to what anyone can or can't play.
I’m interested in the. Going a progressive rock route. Perhaps a dark side of the moon? Or a Night in the Opera? It’s an interesting direction and rock as well so im excited. I’m also keen on the new electronic sound in the car. So many directions so many possibilities. But I certainly want them to go back to rock, not necessarily their debut, but something more classic like something from the 60s and 70s .
Good shout on the prog rock element - I feel like we got a tease of that in various places on The Car so would be cool to see the band fully lean in - they always try and do something new with every record so this would be cool! I feel like they’ve been taking a lot of inspiration from 60s and 70s guitar sounds already on past few albums so I think that’ll leak into their future stuff also!
@@sanjaypanchalmusic the prog rock element does interest me because their live versions of body paint for example is exhilarating. I wish and hope they could tap into the opera rock like queen with prog elements. Not only do they retain their strings and loungy sound, they also bring out the rock sound. I’d love to hear 10 minutes of article monkeys songs or blazing guitar solos. Another things that I would be interested is the songwriting. I’d like it if the other three monkeys could at least give a song each of their own for the new album. Not only would it really change the sound and style but it be pretty good for the fans to see the other obscure monkeys write some songs. I’d be interested to even hear some Matt vocal leads or even nicks. These changes would again change the artic monkeys sound and style and dynamics and I love that.
@@therosodavorakmongkolwatha998The extended outro of Body Paint is legendary I love it so much - we need more of this from the band! yeah it’d be great to see some of those AM style vocals from Matt and Nick reappear in a rock opera queen like style - I missed not having their vocals present on The Car! From what I understood from your review of The Car, the band did not sound like a band production-wise. Still fingers-crossed they would release a live album with the kind of setlist they've been doing in The Car era.
@@crypticcynic7827 live album would be cool! I do think the car doesn’t sound like a band - just my opinion but there’s far too much going on for it to be anywhere near sounding like a band. But then again does that even matter? I’m a fan of the last two albums particularly TBH&C which is one of their best. I think they’ll keep going down this path on the next album to make it a trilogy sort of thing but personally hope they move into a perhaps more upbeat direction, what that sounds like I have no idea!
From a few interviews, it seems like sometimes even they don't really know what direction they're going to go but what they DO know is they just follow their instinct. After TBH+C they said they were anxious to get in the studio and write something that could "close the show" but that's just not what the instinct was once they started. As long as they keep following that instinct, I'll be a fan. I love it. IMO if they push an album out simply to make money or because of what fans want, that's when they'll lose that spark that makes them great.
honestly i don't want them to rush a new album, id rather they take their time on producing something that they're genuinely passionate about. you can tell that with the route tbhc and the car are taking, the band seem much more comfortable with this kind of sound (proven in interviews too), and honestly, im glad. i like that they're not looking at critics because personally the car and tbhc have been AMAZING albums and id love more like this. though, if i had to ask for anything, it'd be another album that has the sound of humbug, as i feel it could fit with the new kind of route they're taking.
I think you may be right about them working again. Hope so! Personally, I think the gaps between AM and Tranquility, and between Tranquility and the Car, were down to personal and global circumstances rather than any lack of desire to work together. In 2015/16, Jamie, Matt and Nick had four babies; their lives changed completely and they will have needed a period off the road to live new lives. Alex diversified with Alexandra Savior and EYCTE, and the TLSP tour - then went straight into making Tranquility in 2017. There was no gap for him. They had a session for the Car in 2019, then covid wiped out 2020 and much of 2021. They couldn’t get together until the summer of 2021 because of lockdowns and The Car’s release was then dictated by when they could tour it without covid restrictions. So I’m hopeful that, absent any similar issues, Alex’s constant creativity and commitment to the Monkeys will mean a new album in 2025. I think too much emphasis is placed on the process having changed for the last two albums, because of a misunderstanding about their creative process. Alex writes the songs alone, always has done. The way he presents them to the band has changed - he records himself now rather than just playing them to the others on his acoustic. They then colour them in, flesh them out, bring them to life. Now there are just more musicians in the room contributing to that process.
we should be extremely grateful that the band is still together, going strong, touring and making music as it's quite rare for a band to last 20+ years. My only crtitic is that after seeing the love that Liam Gallagher got for touring Oasis songs, I feel that there is still a place for the greats of the 90s and 00s do make rock projects and nobody would hate the idea that the Arctic Monkeys should go and bring back that sound, even if it's softer rock. There is still room for a rock band in 2024, but we shall see what the boys do next.
I really really hope it’s tlsp 3 Also a few years ago, miles kane was in an interview and they asked him when tlsp 3 would be released. He said in the future, not too near but not too far so hopefully it’s this year. Also there is a 8 year difference 2008-2016 and after 2016 is 2024 so hopefully this year.
Recently, I have been listening to the old demos from "Beneath the Boardwalk" after ages, and I really loved them! Old memories. I think the next crazy 180 in music history will be something like country rock, haha! No, I don't know; I would be looking forward to any new music from Arctic Monkeys.
8:53 Not sure if anyone can back this up but I don’t think they are one of those bands that has a lot of label pressure. Kinda think that’s why they’ve been free to explore some more progressive rock albums over the last few years. Wouldn’t be surprised by a new album but don’t think it’s going to be back to mainstream.
I look at the discography and see that the band usually make albums in pairs before shifting style. The one exception to that rule is AM, which doesn't have a sibling. I think this also contributed to the disappointment from some fans at Tranquility, as there should have been an AM follow up in between. I'm interested if they follow this pattern by changing tack once more (leaving Tranquility and the Car as stylistic siblings) or whether they'll make a third album in this style. Whilst I like the lounge style the records have not sold anywhere near the amount of the previous five, so i'm very intrigued what they will do next.
I did hear from a friend of a friend who apparently worked on the TBHC website for the band that they actually had another album in the works between AM and TBHC - one with a different working title and theme but it was scrapped. Who knows if it’s true as I just got told this on the grapevine but it could be that it exists and just wasn’t released 👀
@@sanjaypanchalmusic That would make sense - I get there was a sense of unease given the huge success of AM. I actually prefer the Car.Thought that sonically, it was similar to TBHC but lyrically, it's themes were very different and more grounded in reality than TBHC.
I have been a fan for about a year, a friend of mine was listening to AM and I was like "Hey this is kind of good." so I then ended up listening to all of their music. When i first listened to tranquility and the car, I honestly strongly disliked it. I remember thinking how they will no longer make good music. Which is really funny because The Car is probably my favorite album from them. I love how none of their albums sound the same, I think that shows how creative they really are as artist. I don't understand how someone can listen to The Car and simple not just be astonished. It is such a bountiful album and anytime Mirrorball or Body Paint comes on I'm on the verge of tears. I'm excited to see what their next project is but I'm praying that ttsp makes a come back.
Mirrorball is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard and it genuinely does make me tearful it’s so strong emotionally - The Car is an album I think people will look back on fondly 10 years from now and say ‘actually this was a great album’
Don't care about bringing in new members but they should go back to making music like the stuff on Humbug. TQBHAC was an okay album but The Car was just boring and had no life to it. ( Which is fine for solo stuff )
I really don't like Tom Rowley and his influence on the band. He completely changed their sound and well Tranquility base was a great album but The Car was too repetitive and experimental, and that's what Arctic Monkeys are NOT. I prefer the catchy and hype stuff like the first album "whatever people say I am...". But well if they're going to do new music I'm not against it.
The possibility of being a Louise project sets me down so much because people spotted Al and Louise in NY, and Zachary (AM photographer) was taking pictures of her 🥲

I don't understand how someone can listen to The Car and simple not just be astonished. It is such a bountiful album and anytime Mirrorball or Body Paint comes on I'm on the verge of tears. I'm excited to see what their next project is but I'm praying that ttsp makes a come back.
Mirrorball is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard and it genuinely does make me tearful it’s so strong emotionally - The Car is an album I think people will look back on fondly 10 years from now and say ‘actually this was a great album’
ooo
Don't care about bringing in new members but they should go back to making music like the stuff on Humbug.
TQBHAC was an okay album but The Car was just boring and had no life to it. ( Which is fine for solo stuff )
Their last album was a snooze-fest, hoping for else this time around.
That last album was utterly dreadful, They're simply not skilled enough to fill the grandiose shoes that they're trying to fill.
You’ve just spent 10 minutes explaining everything that’s wrong with that band now.
Last album was absolute trash
says who? it was a great continuation of TBH&C
It's good to know the band can stay dead to me
The possibility of being a Louise project sets me down so much because people spotted Al and Louise in NY, and Zachary (AM photographer) was taking pictures of her 🥲
Why does it set you down?
@@sanjaypanchalmusic because I didn't like her songs but idk if she makes it with Alex like a John Lennon and Yoko Ono I might enjoy it
I heard dave grohl is involved
Where did you hear this?!
Nothing solid just a rumour
I think matt said it in an interview but most likely a red herring , it would be great if true
