They were never trying to rewrite Definitely Maybe or TSR, you just can't. Two guys in their 50s and 60s having fun and making some great fucking music while they're at it. It's far too easy to be over critical sometimes. People like different things.
I really wanted some kind of epic instrumental sections like "breaking into heaven" I remember being so stoked to finally getting that record and was really excited for this after just another rainbow.
Those aren't realistic expectations, it's a different band, different era, this it just good business for Liam and John, I doubt John would get anything like that same return without Gallagher not that he's that good a singer.
Yeah, I agree with your thoughts about the Liam Gallagher and John Squire album. Overall good, but could be more dynamic with the Liam putting some of his own new originals in the mix. I'm still glad they made it.
Well said. I think you nailed it. Cheers for another great video. P.s. I had a few listens to ‘All In’ last week. What a tune! Congrats. I’ll make sure I check out the production video for it 👍🏻
I also really like Love You Forever and yeah the artwork is really cool - maybe something to do with the mundanity of life / how great the simple things in life can be? Each item looks to be a household product
Rainbows for me, Mars to Liverpool is shite, and the rest of the songs are throw away b - sides. This has to be one of the worst albums I've ever heard a cash grab and nothing else.
one more point, i think you have absolutley nailed the review. im the same. alot of reviewers are just praising it, but you are honest and thorough. Greg Thurston can only suggest during the recording process, its John who had the final say.
To be honest I don't think this album is very good apart from a few songs that sound like the stone roses....It is nowhere near his best album since Oasis...Liam's solo albums are much better and Beady Eye....Also the production is wrong....I will give it a few more listens though maybe it will grow on me.
The album is pure garbage smothered by Squires guitars everywhere with the only decent song being the brilliant Rainbow song. the rest of the songs aren't even single worthy and sound like songs you'd throw away or use them for b - sides. The Coral brought out a double album this year and the tunes on those albums are brilliant. this has to be nothing more than a quick cash grab but of course the media will buff this up as a great record.
@@iwannadrinkfromyourwideeye2635 Agreed, it is smothered by needless guitar taking over every song. The songs are bland, boring and lacking decent melodies to keep the listener interested. The only thing that will be growing on this record for me is mould.
love the songs but sometimes during verses theres dru solos and lead guitar bits that get in the way. but its a geetar lovers album and its great to see it.
@@sanjaypanchalmusic but im glad more for john squire because the younger ones around now might listen and see his guitar playing, and maybe go look up the roses. hes a very quiet guy and i do think he deserves more recognition. wonder what hes been up2 for the last few years, great video as always mate, keep it up 🙂

Don't waste your money, and the good thing about TH-camr is that the entire album is up if people want to judge it first before buying it. I won't be buying this trash, it's awful with the only highlight being Rainbows as the rest is just plain wrong. This sounds like a John Squire to me, self indulgent where every song is overflowing with to much of everything. Sometimes less is better, and if you don't have a good melody then throw it in the bin.
@@benfrost124 Yeah, I've been listening to The Corals double album "Sea of Mirrors" and "Holy Joe's Coral Island Medicine Show." One album with a nod to spaghetti western films and famous songs from the past and the other album about a serial killer on Coral Island where every song sees a person that dies on it. There's so much imagination and melody on their albums. I'm only seeing one standout track on Liam's new record. John Squire destroyed this record for me, it's all about him and his loud guitars drowning the songs as per usual. Rainbows is a stunning song but it's so frustrating because nothing comes near that song. The holy Joel album is my album of the year as it's bursting with colour and imagination plus mood and character. It's their unpolished gem in the rough where as "Sea of Mirrors" is more polished but not my fav album out of the two. Both albums are up on TH-cam if your interested
@@todareistodomyfoot8403 yeah for me John squire killed it - he’s a good guitarist but can only play one style and that sound is very him - it’s worked in the early 90s but not now so much .
@@benfrost124 exactly, and if you're going to have an album, at least have four good songs with strong melodies so you can release them as singles. It's criminal when Liam and John get recognized and bands like The Coral fade in the distance. I swear their latest double album releases are stunning. I'm giving their unpolished album "Holy Joes Coral Island Medicine Show 9/10 as it's bursting with character and melody. It's a concept album where every song is about a person who dies at the hands of the Coral Island killer. The other album is a homage to the early Italian spaghetti western music artists. It's more polished than holy Joe's but for me not as good but I'll give it a 7./10 as UT's still pretty good. Both albums are now free to listen too up on youtube.
Maybe other tunes will grow with live versions Mars to Liverpool ( not a big fan yet) … but it sounds like a trademark Squire wig out at the end will be on the live version which might elevate it, but yes - very mediocre for me despite some great guitar work; and as a massive Roses fan and Oasis(first two albums anyway) - very disappointed of the potential lost; as you state- a bit of variety would of helped- an acoustic track or a dance tune. Liam’s voice ain’t great in part for me -heavy reverb used. Just another Rainbow is the best of the lot… and that has an awful part too (the bit where Liam sings the colours). Unapologetic nostalgia.
Agree with you mate when I think about what this could have been vs what we got - really hope if they do make another album it’ll be a bit more imaginative

Just had a bit of a listen because of this video. Seems to have been crushed to death, either in mixing or mastering (my guess is both). Really hard to listen to. Even if the songs were brilliant, it's quite a tough listen. Both have done brilliant work in the past, but this sounds like a terrible imitation.
After a few more listens, you will have new favorites!
