Last time I played with temporal portals for drifters spawns enabled, all you had to do to spawn proof (not temporal storm proof) was to make artificial elevation, cause portals spawned based on natural terrain generation and not on floors i placed
Oh btw, around 12:30 when you prospect for Zinc here is a tip on how to make prospecting easier for you in the future: You need to prospect in a cross like pattern. Go the full distance until the pick doesnt detect anymore ore. Mark that location somehow, as a note in your head or physically. Then go the other way and do the same. After this, go straight to the midpoint and repeat the process in the other two directions you havent dug into yet. When you did that, you can then go to the midpoint of that second tunnel you just dug and dig either down or up and usually find the ore very quickly.
Thanks for the tip. Another thing I learned is that you can change the prospecting radius with a command to 2-4 and that helps for more precise searching, like if you need to find silver or gold in a massive quartz deposit. Maybe a bit cheaty? I'll try your method next time!
Nice video, early tip is you can craft torches and light them faster with the fire starter quicker, but trade off is you gotta place them and break them when lit
I think it ends up being more efficient to use a high gear ratio on a single helve hammer then to use multiple hammers. This is because each hammer carries its own friction overhead cost, which results in a flat reduction of power per hammer. So one hammer going ridiculously fast via gear ratios only carries the cost of a single hammer, but gets loads done fast.
I don't understand the gears and ratios at all yet. I thought there was a maximum speed the hammer can reach. I guess I didn't know it can go turbo fast. I should watch a tutorial next time.
@@Oscillascape I wouldn't bother following tutorials too closely, personally. Usually what I do is to just gear it up by one level (whatever the ratio of teeth between one big gear and one small gear is), and then if I have enough windmills, it goes crazy fast. Sounds like a jackhammer. But I don't think one single full-sail rotor can get it going that fast, and I try to put multiple rotors on, each with full sail. But that would only work if you really got flax growing well, of course. So I guess I usually do like (at least) four rotors, all driving one big gear (A) by connecting to its rim. And then an axle from the center of A to the center of another big gear (B). So A drives B. And then a small gear (C) connects to the rim of B, and an axle goes from C to drive the center of one last big gear (D). And then from the rim of D you can drive a hammer, or switch to driving a pulverizer or quern (I put each on a clutch), and then any one of them will go super speed if you have enough wind. I guess I also usually find a high elevation to build it to help with wind speed. Anyway, I suspect that's going to be more power-efficient than putting up many separate helve hammers, but I could be wrong. Perhaps multiple hammers are more resource-efficient as a tradeoff? Would have to do the math.

Makes sense. It's not intended to be a let's play or a tutorial and is more geared towards players that have some familiarity with the game. But I get your point and you probably right. It was already encroaching on an hour long and if I started adding explanations, it would have been 30 minutes longer and I think an hour is about my sanity limit for a video.

Am I literally the only Vintage Story player that uses medieval design techniques to defend my base? My house has MACHICOLATIONS. I stab the Drifter hordes from above! Humorously, this has resulted in my house looking like a giant mushroom...
I haven't used the mod myself. But I find myself slowly increasing the mod count overtime. Perhaps I will try medical expansion one day! Edit: ohh I don't think you meant a mod. You meant actual medical tactics 😂
@@Oscillascape Yeah, I just use fences. It's just wood, and honestly I'm new to the game, but I play a ton of different games so I already had a strategy planned. However, can confirm Drifters can spawn in your house during a Temporal Storm even with full torch coverage. Luckily, I designed the house to release smoke similar to Valheim, so the second floor, dedicated to fighting, had a 3-3 hole in the floor to let the smoke out from the central fire on the first floor. I wasn't sure how the fire and smoke mechanics worked when I first built the house, but it worked out because the house is 7-by-7, so it was easy to stab and shoot through that opening to kill the Corrupted Drifter on the first floor. He even tried hiding in the corner, but couldn't escape the impromptu murder hole. Sadly, I think I accidentally discovered the meta ON MY FIRST HOUSE. Doesn't save me from ninja bear though...
Awesome video, I'm a pro at dying and take forever to do this stuff so it's nice to see what the later game looks like xD Great narration and scripting as well. Do you plan to do a let's play series of Vintage Story? It's always cool to find more creators making videos on this game.
Probably not. Mostly because my current set up doesn't really allow for continuous voice recording. I have to kick my family out to do voice recordings and do them in a single sitting. Plus, it often takes me like 10 takes on a single sentence to get it right. English is not my first language. Once we get a house, I'll look into doing let's plays and maybe even streaming!
@@Oscillascape you can also hotswap armor from your hotbar, and a suit of linen armor is pretty good for healing and traveling without being vulnerable.
Appreciate it. I could have designed a lot of the stuff in creative first. I think I have a decent knack for building exteriors, but decided to just jump into this playthrough. So yes the buildings are a little vanilla.
When you build a charcoal pit, look at the name of the campfire before you ignite it. The name of the campfire should change to "charcoal pit" if the charcoal pit is built correctly.
13 minutes into the video and I really enjoy it. You put a lot of effort in it but I'd like to give you an honest feedback about your narrating style. I'm sure that it is a personal preference of mine but the way you narrate somehow makes me nervous haha. It is this monotone style where every sentence end with your voice going down a bit, while narrating it doesn't seem to be wrong at all but when it is all cut together and every sentence sounds the same. For me personally, it sounds a bit robotic and weird. But this might be just a personal thing, your video is still agreat :)
No worries. I am trying to become a better narrator. It is certainly not my strong suite and it took me several years to even get to this point. I will continue to work on it and improve. Feedback is appreciated!

No reason. One of my favorite things to do in Minecraft was building mega projects so I have propensity to do it. In vintage story it's kind of a bad idea, the house is so large that it doesn't count as a room and therefore is always cold🤣
None of the stuff is on curse forge as far as I know it. It's all hosted on vintage story own mod database. Just Google it and it's the first site that comes up.
Vintage Story is it's own game, not a mod. I believe that it initially started as a group of modders wanting to make a more in depth version of Terrafirma Craft and being frustrated by Minecraft's engine limitations and deciding to make their own game instead.
There are plenty of ppl who have done 100 days in vintage story its just thats its done as lets plays and such and not done as a "100 days" type of video. But great video❤
Haha. A popular comment on these types of videos. I don't see a lot of point to go beyond 100 in the current iteration of Vintage Story. But who knows, maybe!?
Hey your content is really good and your script is well written, but youre tone of voice is rather monotonous; most sentences you say start with a high pitch and get lower before dropping really low at the last two words. Fixing this would improve your content significantly. Other then that awesome video! good pacing and script and you clearly know a lot about the game :)

Idk what it is, and nothing against you, but i get a weird vibe from 100 days videos. It's like a compressed let's play, why not just make a let's play? Is it a product of reduced attention spans or TH-cam algorithm? idk why i felt like voicing this opinion here but here u go anyway. great video!
Well, one of the reasons is because I can't record voice narration at will. I need to record at certain hours only when I kick my family out. Another is because it's a different format.
Good job man! Cool video. Keep it up!
Good job too! Keep being awesome 😎
Bro legit thought the charcoal pit just was takin over 3x as long for no reason lmaoo. More things to do!
Yo crazy how you only have 600 subs, I’ve started playing vintage story and was thinking about making a 100 days on it. But since the days last more then double minecrafts I haven’t. Your dedication is nuts. Also the videos pretty dang good aswell keep working hard and im sure your gonna succeed and do great!! It took me three months of videos before I got my first 1k subs. Sine then I’ve grown like crazy within a few months so just keep working and soon you’ll hit your break I’m sure of it!!!
And if you ever need any tips or help w figuring out what to do with your videos to make them more entertaining and keep higher viewership reach out, I’d love to help you out with the few things I’ve learned over the last few months!!
Thanks I appreciate the offer. I been making videos for 2 years actually. My first year is privated since the videos are just a learning phase. It's just a hobby so I never worried about subs. But not going to lie subs and views are nice.
@@OscillascapeEnglish isn’t your first language? I never would have guessed. Like seriously I couldn’t even place your accent.
The booms sound damn amazing
The booms? 🤔
very cool idea to use the abandoned fort!
It required less work then making a dirt house! And I am a lazy mofo.
Fun fact, you can directly light a torch with the firestarter, and use that torch to light more torches :)
Several people pointed it out! It's a very useful trick, been using it since.
@@Oscillascape you can also hotswap armor from your hotbar, and a suit of linen armor is pretty good for healing and traveling without being vulnerable.
It's incredible that you survived considering you massively under prioritised healing yourself all the damn time lol
Oi, i watched the whole video, very good narrating, building could use some aesthetic work, other than that. Youre amazing!
Appreciate it. I could have designed a lot of the stuff in creative first. I think I have a decent knack for building exteriors, but decided to just jump into this playthrough. So yes the buildings are a little vanilla.
massively underplayed game
Agreed. Doing my best to play a lot of it!
Man this game is really entertaining. Maybe one day I’ll give it a try
I heard about it a while ago and it took me ages to actually give it a shot myself. It's worth it though!
When you build a charcoal pit, look at the name of the campfire before you ignite it. The name of the campfire should change to "charcoal pit" if the charcoal pit is built correctly.
I think it did change the name. But this was a while ago. Can't remember exactly.
I really like that it doesn't sound like every sentence is a question that ends on an upwards indlection, a.k.a influencer speak.
bro the scene from cosmo and wanda at 54:55 got me dying😂😂
Not sure what you are referring to 🤣
You should cover your pit kilns with a small roof. Sometimes rain will put them out.
Haha, yes I did learn that lesson. I do cover them now!
you should always make ladders as soon as you can for caving. Breaking those blocks takes a lot of time.
Ladders are so expensive to make though. Dem sticks!
@@Oscillascape not after making a pair of shears. The investment pays off.
sick video man
Well, you are a sick human being. Like in a good sense of that word. Keep rocking!
55:05 Dude stalled and failed to recover and just said "hmmm not good as mystical ancient rocket powered dragon wings lol". Really summs up how you play this game pffft
It was my first time playing using the 100 format and only the second time playing VS. The Minecraft player in me still shows.
Hey I didn't have a ton of experience with pits at the time. Now I know better.
I gave your 50th like!
Aren't you sweet.
i’m still not sure if this is its own game or the best MC mod i’ve ever seen
It's own game, only 20 bucks!
how are you highlighting chunks on your map? I've been setting down waypoints but that might be more useful...
It's the most essential mod called prospectorinfo, would not play without it. It will highlight chunks and their content when you have a mining or prospecting pick equiped. A must.
@@Oscillascape Ooooohhh that does sound like a good mod. so you ping the junk and it just sorta records on the map?
Iron Ingawts
Making fun of my pronunciation? English not a native language for me 🤷
You could have used brown coal for firing the steel furnaces, but it's alright i guess
Could I? As far as I understood you couldn't, but maybe I need to revisit the wiki again!
@@Oscillascape the wiki isnt always the true, what matters is the high carbon fuel that is used inside the coffin, the coal you use to fire really doesnt matter, also, the wiki saying it takes 2 stacks (i think) of charcoal to fire it is misleading, it takes 3 and a half stacks of any coal for the proccess to be complete
Next time Play it on real hardcore. 100 of Wilderness survival :)
That will very likely happen this year!
@@OscillascapeI'll be waiting with bated breath :D
So ig I'm just incredibly "lucky" by running into locusts so often I swear they are common
Well, there is a way to farm one. The sawblade locust inside of Resonance Archives respawns. That will be my strategy from now on.
Very interesting video. I've been looking a these trying to get a handle at the start of the game; I always starve to death before I can do anything. 😅
I mean, as long as you move around you will find berries, mushrooms and veggies all over the place, it's only start being a bigger problem once you are static with a base. Just travel a lot and you will find food all over the place, mark it on the map and you can come back later.
Really neat video! This took a lot of time to put together.
If you could forget this game and play it all over again, would you?
Forget? I actually don't like the learning period with a lot of games. That is where I have least amount of fun. I much rather play when I know what I am doing. So no, I would rather not forget and keep my expertise. I will be making more videos on vintage story. That's a promise.
how do you easily place clay without aiming in 6:27
You can press F key to have different clay brushes. Including one that repeats the previous layer if you hold down they mouse key.
Pretty cool video
Thanks! New one incoming in a few days too.
You know what a real hard challenge would be?
Snowball earth in vintage story with the worst class for survival in-game (tailor)
Not sure there are a ton of tools to really survive pure winter, I considered it. But maybe I will attempt it.
@@Oscillascape there really isn't
There's no dry grass for starting fires
Only source of sustenance is bear, fox and hare meat
Constant fear of freezing up, snow blinding you
Not much dirt, no cattails
@@k3kr There are special arctic supply caches that have dirt, cattails, grass, and other stuff up north. So it is do able.
@@lordofchaosd327 I'm not saying it's impossible cause there's a few people that have tried it out
The main issue they face is the lack of grass to start a fire and the lack of clay pottery
It's still a shame you can't set up fish traps in-game (vanilla) or just fish
Tailor would actually be THE perfect fit for that kind of playthrough, since it makes the best clothing
Very nice video! 👍
Very nice comment! 👍
You should, yes this is crazy but you should do 200 days
I might start a perma world soon, probably not this one,but one where I can do 200 days, 400 days, 500 days, you get the picture.
@@Oscillascape sounds DOPE. P.S. could you make a video on how to do mods maybe?
@@GamerOZboyYT like mod reviews? What exactly do you mean by that.
3:11 IS THAT BAUXITE you lucky F$$ker! it took me like THREE YEARS in game to find any! still looking for olivine, gold and silver....want that max light lantern...
I got extremely lucky with just about everything this time around. It's was nutty 🤯
@@Oscillascape damned right you did! *shakes fist at* of course I found the rest of the bauxite biome last time I was gaming. so set on that...now I still need to find peridotite for the olivine. that doesn't spawn toplayer..does it? gotta go caving...
@@TizonaAmanthia Peridotite does spawn as a top rock layer, and you can find olivine on the surface occasionally.
@@lordofchaosd327 ahhh, good! any clues on where Peridotite MIGHT spawn? like warm biomes more or cold biomes?
@@TizonaAmanthia The rock types are not tied to temperatures as far as I know. It's all just random chance, there are a few rules as to which types of rock there are tho, igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic. Peridotite is igneous so iirc it will most commonly be the top layer.
200th sub, 300th like. This looks like an amazing seed, might I inquire if you'd be willing to share?
I was here before 1k subs :)
1k lol, that's seems so far away still 😇
@@Oscillascape I believe :)
I also tried playing 100 days (standard ) but it didn't work about because it got annoying when the game was lagging on my system and of course skill issue.
Put the settings down a bit. The biggest offender would be chunk render distance. You can play with it fairly low.
@@Oscillascape Now I had stopped playing the game because of invisible creature glitches different world, because like in other blockly game I always making new worlds.
I guess invisible creautres glitch got fixed, so now I need to figure out time when to play it.
@@PhantomDogman I didn't encounter any glitches myself. Most things seems to be fixed! There are some minor bugs but nothing game breaking.
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉
You are!
I read somewhere the other day that after a temporal storm if you exit the game and then get back on, all the drifters will be gone. I haven't tested yet because I'm stupid and try to fight 😂.
It's possible? You can also just do what I did, but far away from your base and then dig underground for a while and the coast should be clear since they spawn on the player location.
Viewer to do list
1: like the video it's a pretty good armor
2: subscribe this is really hard to do it's a really hard boss

another 100 days vintage story!

Did you just say "eww" to lore books?
How dare! Disliked and unsubscribed.
I joke, I joke.

Great vid
Thanks! There will be a lot more in 2024. Stay tuned.
Nice!
Ready and willing!
why did you make your house so massive?
No reason. One of my favorite things to do in Minecraft was building mega projects so I have propensity to do it. In vintage story it's kind of a bad idea, the house is so large that it doesn't count as a room and therefore is always cold🤣
Finally ❤🎉
❤️🎉
Is this mod on curse forge?
None of the stuff is on curse forge as far as I know it. It's all hosted on vintage story own mod database. Just Google it and it's the first site that comes up.
Vintage Story is it's own game, not a mod. I believe that it initially started as a group of modders wanting to make a more in depth version of Terrafirma Craft and being frustrated by Minecraft's engine limitations and deciding to make their own game instead.
I got a lot of living to do before I die.
And I ain't got time to waste!
heavily moded Minecraft inspired by Tetrafirmacraft :D.
And there is nothing wrong with that!
200 days ?
Hey! I have plans to start a permanent seed next, where I will be playing through-out the years. So 200+ days will be coming next year and more!
Wait is this not minecraft?
Look carefully🤣
There are plenty of ppl who have done 100 days in vintage story its just thats its done as lets plays and such and not done as a "100 days" type of video. But great video❤
Exactly. I know there are ton of long let's plays. But I do myself enjoy a 100 days style video that's a bit condensed and narrative focused.
so.. this game is similar to terraformafactory.. great
Never heard of it? Is that a Minecraft mod?
@@Oscillascape terrafirmacraft, sorry, and yhe, an modpack in minecraft

now 200
Haha. A popular comment on these types of videos. I don't see a lot of point to go beyond 100 in the current iteration of Vintage Story. But who knows, maybe!?
Im sorry but bro repeatedly says "and to add insult to an injury" and hes getting it wrong every time 💀

Thank you for your feedback. I will try to work on my voice a bit. It is my weakest skill.
Here comes the views
Hope so 😂
Pls 200 days
Possibly for my next VS video. But it won't be this world.
MInecraft mentioned, like revoked.
And all I have is this comment 😭
as someonew ho loves the lore i accaly dont mind ya buzed past the stuff. :P as i currently got a game planed. a clockmaker, a soul who was unwillingly made into a king of their own kingdom, one of gears and madness that would tap into the chaotic forces they should not have. if you wish to learn WHY i say all this for thoes who find my comment, first welcome secondly, if you dive into the deep abyss of the world were we once hid our selves away. be warned insanity and that what came from byond lingers here. but the clickmakers under the command of the master clockmaker johnas made many WONDERUS things but thoes came at a cost. the other side started bleeding though the temporal came and shattered things. the children have become lost.
Nerd alert 😎 that's cool. I am sure the lore is actually quite interesting. I don't read a lot of books for same reason though, it's just time I could be spending otherwise on my other nerdy pursuits and I got a lot.
@@Oscillascapeunlike you i dont work (pro: i can nerd my ass off on a ton of things like the games lore, con: IM A BROKE ASS BI@$#) so i often have to much time on my hands for shit. also at this point i avoid the world becase i can fall into depression spirals because the world is nothing but a rat race were the rats are better off then humanity is.
calling temporal stability SANITY pissed me off
Haha, it's kind of like that 😂
@@Oscillascape THOSE ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS
Idk what it is, and nothing against you, but i get a weird vibe from 100 days videos. It's like a compressed let's play, why not just make a let's play? Is it a product of reduced attention spans or TH-cam algorithm? idk why i felt like voicing this opinion here but here u go anyway. great video!
Well, one of the reasons is because I can't record voice narration at will. I need to record at certain hours only when I kick my family out. Another is because it's a different format. You get a lot happening in a small span. I don't need to see you mine thousands of dirt blocks, I just want to see overall progress ya know. Different strokes!
