I can't agree more. This game wasn't ahead of its time. It's actually still way ahead. Take the whole picture. These graphics, the modes, the features and the layers of gameplay, to which there is theoretically no roof to how good you can get, this without permanent character leveling and all that lame bs. Just customizable stats and player skill, all packed in possibly the best mecha design ever seen. Genius series, truly. They should so remake AC1 trilogy. Imagine the things FromSoftware could create with the technology available today. E: I forgot to mention SL's soundtrack. What the actual...... It's not from this world
I liked the look AC5 tried to go for, but that game was also a visual mess. The graphical distortion and general low resolution, combined with its bleak color scheme made it actually painful to look at. I'm surprised I could even comprehend what was going on. Definitely like how things stand out in their own way in early armored core.
@@KrypticAsylum A lot of 360/PS3-era games had a "muddy" look due to poor implementation of ambient occlusion and overuse of bloom, often exacerbated by the "gritty grey-brown" trend at the time.

I really appreciate the soft, warm RenderWare graphics of the late 90s and early 2000s, and this is one of the finest examples. I remember hating HDR lighting when that came in with the seventh generation. It took a long time to get used to.

This intro is almost the same from Armored Core 4, I think AC4 intro is a reference to this game, for example the final stand of the 2 AC looks identical to AC4 with Rayleonard's Aaliyah taking down the Normal.
