The third generation especially I think had the most cohesive parts and upgrades flow. It would make for a great long time player game online with this generation as a base.
It's not so much overlooked as intentionally left behind. Ac was never a big seller ( even though it definitely has its fans ) but fromsoft recently found a bit more success with those dark soul games so it makes sense
Not necessarily overlooked, there just isn’t a huge market for mecha games. A lot of people aren’t fans of the genre, me included. I can’t stand the genre, especially the games. The UI is headache inducing, the combat gets boring almost immediately and the weapons and upgrade mechanics are all so boring. Just lasers and guns on top of lasers and guns with a few middles on the side. Closest I’ve ever gotten to appreciating anything mech related was Gurren Lagann.
It's impressive to me how each title so far takes the foundation of the previous and improves it across the board. You so rarely see that with sequels nowadays, usually they subtract features and/or dramatically shift genre and gameplay. And yes I know the next two series are dramatic alterations... and some would now say the next three.
Most people seem to miss that FromSoft was releasing these games yearly, from 1997 to 2006, making them the equivalent of your typical sports game, but for mecha. There just wasn’t time and most likely inclination to make big changes as they had a formula that worked and were clearly milking it.
@@LookBackGaming It's an apt comparison but also unfair, in that I think there was some heart behind it even if they were milking it. Plus there were improvements, whereas the sports games and equivalents like WWE or The Ubisoft Game often break or outright strip features and add bugs and paywalling and performance issues. BUT, my experience with the first three ACs (and their respective followups) is limited so maybe I don't entirely know what I'm talking about. I do know V tried to change the formula to chase trends and it killed the series till now, so it was technically less healthy/faithful then the yearly franchise deal. There are also much worse examples of yearly game franchises in japan, most of which we thankfully never got in englishlands.
@@adriansvarela nah things are pretty bad for mecha games. I guess we got Titanfall in the west but that is just an FPS. The Switch got that game called Daemon X Machine made by ex From Software devs but that is about it for this generation.
to me the golden era of mecha games was PSP and PS3. i got so many games for those two, huge amount of Gundam games, Front mission, Armored Core, Macross
Thank you so much for this. After AC2AA, I was sad about the non-cheat intentional kill yourself glitches from the old games. I had a HARD time with this game. Glad to see someone playing it that's clearly much better than I ever would be. But it's about my favorite game series. Thank you again.
Thanks for all the time stamps and great job on the last massive MT nice tactic man you just blew that thing to smithereens in no time. That thing keeps doing that to ME
FromSoftware has such a deep catalog of great games. It’s almost a shame that Dark Souls did so well because not many people know of the Armored Core series.
Awesome job. The green blade itself actually does more damage than the yellow wave blade. By the way, the energy optional parts do work with the energy EO cores. I used it with it myself.
- Ahh such great memories ... i don't know if you gamers remember the Tips & Tricks magazine. - I was the winner of Armored Core 3 Civil War Contest, & was published in the Tips & Tricks Issue 100 😎 - I was also a major coffee addict at the time. smh 🤐😬😵💫/ lol epic times indeed 😁💯❤✌
Funny thing about a certain mission, the mt missle training mission, if you don’t get hit at all by any of them you get a really good reward, just don’t remember it been so long
It's a 50% ammo capacity back unit. I would say it's one of the most difficult requirements to meet in the game. You can cheese it with stealth and the right anti-missile parts but you can't get them without first completing the game and then going back to replay the mission.
@@LookBackGaming to be honest, that mission took me quite some attempts(and rage related strokes) to S-rank. But for me personally it wasn't NEARLY as difficult as aquiring the Karasawa with the bonus mission you unlock by completing 'Destroy Gun Emplacements' (the one in the rain forest) super fast. No matter how freakin fast I do that mission, I am just not getting the bonus mission, just rank A at most after which I'm then brought back to the main menu. I'm attempting it in JP region portable Armored Core 3. Maybe just maybe it has different requirements for the getting the Karasawa. If not, I don't know what on earth I'm doing wrong. I literally cannot think of a way to do it even faster. It is the only weapon I still want to get before transfering over to Silent Line, but I'm actually on the brink of saying screw the Karasawa I just want to go to Silent Line
I know i'm kinda late to ask this but i'm about to play some armored core games again (to relive some nostalgia) and what's the difference between armored core 3 and armored core 3- silent line ? Btw great video !
silent line is the add on to AC3 you can take your save data from AC3 to silent line like from AC2 to another age en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armored_Core scroll down right side you see the chronology PS : YOu can play it in nice graphics on PCSX2 (full hd 2k etc) ( pcsx2.net/ ) you also can adjust threw the lilypad plug that you can use both dual sticks to play ( bind R2+L2 on rightstick dual stick , up/down L1+R1 on left dual stick left/right and so on ) also a convert to mouse and keyboard is posible . The only thing i discoverd that my map isnt show up in AC3 (in AC2 it was all good) so a few missions are a pain and if you consider to play on emulator you have to look up which version you play EUROPE JAPAN or AMERICAN one ,cause it can happen that you cant use your save file for the add ons . I had this problem on AC2 i played american version and after it another age european , the european version DIDNT even have the option to use the save form AC2 pretty shitty but i just loaded the american after age and tadaaa ezpez There is also PCSX3 you can play armored core for answer without laging ( AC FA on PS3 was a pain sooo laggy .....) Enjoy Have a nice one cheers And YES the video was great WP mate
I know this comment is 6 mo old but figured I’d throw in my piece, like it was mentioned silent line is a sequel to 3, and is set in a world post Controller and human life has returned to the surface. Some small gameplay changes are included as wel.
Yea nope fucking hate it 4 was nice the turning rate kills me its fine with the Emu . if you map movement to analog..somehow... and shooty zappy to the bumper trigger buttons god knows how they played it on release
One day we'll see Armored Core return. No time is too long of a wait.

best game on the PS2 hands down
You can tell that all of the builds you use are strictly function! No nonsense to any of them, just stuff that works. Love it

They made a new game for the switch. Its a new game not considered as armored core, but its the same game made by the same devs of AC.

The first game I played on PS2, this game is extremely underrated, it's a masterpiece
Forgot how ruthless some of these missions were. And amusingly how often you would destroy what you earlier protected like that bridge.
AC3 was my sophomore year in High school. Played this damn game every chance I could. Loved how you could customize your AC.

@@telepathicfish1489 new game announced!
They are now with the new game coming out!!!!!
I hope you do more armored core playthroughs as I'm a new fan of the series
According to the game's back cover, it has been 20 years since the Earth Govenment and the Mars corporations fought for Supremacy
Raven, where will you go? What will you do?
I want you to consider for a moment how unimaginably huge that cargo vessel must have been.
Guess I'll have to jump into the series now that 6 got announced. Hope this one is a good starting point.
It is, it's one of the easier AC titles from what I've heard
This'll be my first one too, I've got it running on my ps2. The controls are wonky.
It's a great place to start. It restarts the story, so AC3 through Silent Line is a great way to understand the story

Thanks for the walkthrough comrade, very helpful video!💯
Who's here after hearing the announcement of a new game?
Me...
They don't make games like this anymore. Everything is a fuckin cash grab or a battle royale.
Some companies still do. A new armored core game is coming its way.😊
Id really love to watch you play the arena in the armored core series tbh when i saw the play through playlist id hoped you did : (
I loved and hated how they added the temp gauge, and more immersive malfunctions. Btw the flamethrower is great against sword ACs.
Who is here after the game awards 2022?!
