The more I retrospect on this game, the more I start to realize that any excitement that I might have had for the future of this franchise is fucking dead and buried deeper than the Mariana Trench.
Sometimes I think the reason I've lost interest in the new Pokémon games is just the fact of growing up and falling out of love with the things you were infatuated with as a kid... then I play Black & White or Ruby & Sapphire and realise that the new games are just dogshit lmfao
@@GarlicKing101 I mean, I don't necessarily think Sword and Shield is a better game than Scarlet and Violet. I also don't think Scarlet and Violet is a better game than Sword and Shield. They're equally bad to me, just for different reasons.
The bright side is that Pokémon is not the only monster collecting game out there. There’s Dragon Quest Monsters, EvoCreo, Coromon, Monster Crown, Telefang, Cassette Beasts, Digimon (my most favorite of them all), and others too.
I started to accept that by Gen 7, after feeling burned by ORAS. The only good mainline game since XY(which also wasn't that great) was PLA. At least RTDX was good, I guess... Seriously. How was RTDX _soooo_ much better of a remake than ORAS and BDSP?
If I could borrow a line "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" this franchise has been dead since sword and shield.
@@austinthetruth2285 Black and White were games that I didn't appreciate on release; I hated like 90% of the pokedex ran through it as fast as possible to get national dex so I could get pokemon I wanted. But years after the game was released I played through it again and it's actually to date one of my favorite pokemon games. The dex is one of the most stacked there's ever been and ended up introducing pokemon that would become staples on my competitive teams in later games (looking at you Eelektross ❤️). And it's actually one of the most competent and well written stories in the franchise; N is hands down the best antagonist in a pokemon game-- point is if you ever get a chance I would play it. X and Y killed the competitive scene imo and for that those games will always be tainted; plus that was the mark where Pokemon games became a commercialized product that gamefreak uses as their "yearly release".
Part of the problem I think is the rushed development. These games should be 3-5 years apart, nothing in between. No spin offs, no holiday bullshit. Release the game when it’s done and there’s no major glitches.
@camronross What? You can't be serious. The fanbase has been alive and well and imo more alive in the past when there was actually time put into developing the game. If they did it in the past they can do it now.
@@camronross Other series can do it just fine. It's far better to get a quality game every couple years than half-assed shite on a yearly release schedule. Just play something other than Pokemon between games, other video games exist.

@@brycetheobald5163 First off: This is not my all time favorite gen either. BUT... I have to love when people take confirmation bias as proof that nobody on the entire planet could possibly still be playing this. It's funny, 'cause when it comes to its pros people are saying this is the best story and adventure as a whole (except for the impatient people skipping over Gen 7's dialogue) since the suddenly sacred Gen 5. Arguably the 2nd best of the series. "Not saying much?" Doesn't matter. They find that and Legends to be a step in the right direction. Yeah there's software problems, but worrying about dumb names is pushing it. And I stg the "ugly designs" is a leftover excuse everyone uses to justify their problems with EVERY SINGLE GEN as of late. If you put up with the past 8 rosters of random magical creatures perfectly fine but all of a sudden you're triggered because of Dung Beetle Boy, I'm sorry but I just refuse to believe you. Are they too complicated? Too lazy? More like too lazy to look up the lore behind a design, am I right? ;) (I expect the internet call me a SIMP and ignore every single point I've made.)
I literally put it down after beating Nemona cause fuck Arven and his dog (I love animals too so this says a lot) and family they are so boring. Though I did trade a friend for legendary bike data for scarlet.
As a German, I have to ask... Why would he put obvious French accordion music over a section in which he talks with a German accent? I don't think his accent sounds even remotely like a German person speaking english. It sounds very much French to me.
I pirated the game and still felt like I deserved a refund. I haven't been in love with the series for a very long time. It's over for the series unless they overhaul the whole thing.
On the Paradox Pokemon it's also worth pointing out that Violet got shafted, because Scarlet just had better and more unique ones. Iron Jugulis sends it's regards
The paradox mons in general are poorly named shouldve took more time and came up with better names all around. Cool in design tbh but the names make me stay away from them. Sword and shield gym challenges were actually fun. Geeta is literal trash, Larry is a chad I like him and his design team star is trash the themes themselves are great. It's not fun it's hella annoying games shouldn't run below 30fps at the very least no apology from the company will rectify their fuck ups.
@@brycetheobald5163 I understand not liking the names but they're ment to sound like prototypes/code names. SImilar to the ultra beasts. They should have done what they did with the Ultra Beasts and give them a name outside of that but it's not poorly named it's just not interesting
I though Sun and Moon was trash, so I didn't bother buying a Pokémon game after that until 2023... imagine my surprise when I found out that I can't bring 70% of my Pokémon I've had since 2003 up to gen 9. Not only can I not use most of my old Pokémon, but the game itself actually has less Pokémon available than Gen 4 in 2007... There's no excuse for this. Absolutely garbage. What exactly is the point of Pokémon if you can't even get 70% of the existing Pokémon? I mean why even make it at that point? Who asked for this?
@@toooydoeur The entire game is a straight line bent around to look like a map and every single route is extremely narrow. SM had the absolute worst routes out of any Pokémon game I've played. Going from one side of the map to the other just sucked.

In spite of some of my disagreement with this video. I’ve actually found it pretty entertaining. They showed their critisisum of the game without completely villainizing the company something that I have grown very irritated of when it comes to critics on TH-cam. Understanding the saying of Seperate the art from the artist nicely.
Pokémon truly has been in a downfall after ultra sun/moon the switch games and new generations/Pokémon just blend into each other and don’t feel unique anymore the switch games were supposed to bring Pokémon steps further but seemed to only make it go steps into the wrong direction it just feels like a lot of wasted potential
They've been on a steady decline since B2W2. XY was a fine enough game, a good start for going full 3D, but it wasn't great. ORAS had no such excuse and SM was a giant step back, at least in its world and progression. Gen 7 wasn't where the decline ultimately began.
Honesty, I wouldn't be surprise if one day Pokemon just fades into obscurity with how it's becoming now. The bigger they are the harder they fall. Also I feel bad for the employees working on this franchise, they're likely being worked to death just to release these games as fast as possible year after year.
They're too big to fall. With the way they're going I'd love to see them fall but it's just that they have this dumb niche fanbase that's idiotic enough to buy anything with the name Pokemon on it.
What is worst about how the open world was realized is that Pokemon already has a perfect formula to deal with an open world: Competitive battles. When you enter a competitive battle the level is fixed at 50, 100 or free. Use the fixed at lvl 50 for Gym battles, fixed at 100 for the Elite Four and Champion battle and the free level for the villain team. Give the Leaders some real teams and have the player take the challenger seriously.
Sun and Moon meant so much to me. That story hit home for me, and I loved a lot of the characters. Plus, being able to play with just about everything the series had introduced up to that point after things unlocked was some of the most fun I've had in Pokemon. Black and White's story was amazing. I loved so many of the pokemon designs, and the world felt so fun to explore and so... rich. Nothing since gen 7 has felt that way. I still like a good bunch of the pokemon, but the gameplay being so gimmick centered is just exhausting, on top of being separated from all of my years long pokemon partners. None of it feels good. It just feels like they're taking things away to sell them later, be it the battle tower or something as simple as the GTS. I am so tired. I just want to play with my favorite mons and do fun stuff again. I miss contests, and the battle tower/frontier. I just want to be able to have fun with this shit again.
Gen 7 did have a pretty good story, but I really didn't like the game itself. The map kind of just sucked and I thought the overall pacing was really bad. I remember being super frustrated with getting needlessly dragged away from progression for way too long every time I entered a new area. The overall experience was so frustrating that Gen 7 was my reason for quitting mainline altogether, with PLA being my only exception since.
I was hugely disappointed with Sun/Moon and the Ultra Games which weren't even sequels, but Scarlet/Violet are genuinely horrible games. It is the most by the numbers, "the kids these days love open worlds and crafting", poorly made dripping with corporate goo Pokemon game they've ever made, and I shudder at how bad it gets from here. And then they're trying to sell us a DLC too, fuck off with that.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was the final straw in supporting Pokemon for me. I got Pokemon Sheild as a Christmas gift on the basis that I had literally nothing else to get for that Christmas, I got Legends Arceus because I heard it was fun and for all intents and purposes, the game was fun. I bought Legends Arceus because while heavily flawed, there was a lot of fun to be had, especially for someone who has grown up with Pokemon since generation 3, specifically Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. However, Scarlet and Violet didn't excite me, which is exactly how I felt about every pokemon game past Sun and Moon. Unlike Legends Arceus, the more I heard about it, the more I just had this massive distaste for it. Then it comes out and I see the twitter footage, and I just was in awe of how it released in the state it was. People saying this is an issue of the Switch hardware just confuse me. The opposing side isn't saying the Switch's hardware is outdated because it most certainly is, but it's more than a system's hardware. People saying it runs better on an emulator are forgetting that the game was not meant to be played on a $3,000 computer used for bitcoin mining, and should not be judged based on it's performance there. Imagine that defense being used for Sonic 06- Actually this feels very reminiscent of Sonic 06 really. Rushed game that had decent ideas, ultimately ruined by crunch, not enough resources, higher ups wanting the game out before Christmas, but the rest of the ideas that were there weren't even that great, and a poorly optimized game that can have it's frame rate utterly ruined in seconds if you get hit with a lot of rings. But at least with Sonic 06, as someone who has beaten the game...checking notes here, 3-4 times at this point, the glitches that I exploit, I at least have to TRY to get them to work, it's not very hard, but I at least have to try to get what I want done, with the exception of sticking to the walls as Knuckles or Rouge. Here, gameplay glitches just HAPPEN. Only thing that Sonic 06 has that Scarlet and Violet doesn't have is...I guess 30 second load times but from what I heard load times in Scarlet and Violet are still ass. But back to Graphical issues: I remember playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 3 this year, a game that had it's release date set forward because the development team finished the game faster than expected, getting to the hidden area "Forerunner's Tower" and being utterly blown away how you could see the very beginning of that area that you started in, in decent detail to boot. It was a breathtaking moment I will never forget. I also want to point out that I really find it hard to be an issue to take seriously from Pokemon fans when Xenoblade Chronicles X, a game released on the Wii U in 2015, is one of the most impressive and gorgeous looking games on a Nintendo Home Console. Monolith Soft also doesn't suffer from Crunch from what the public knows about. It's not an issue of hardware anymore, it's an issue of properly optimizing your game. Something, Gamefreak has had little to no experience with, and from what I can tell, they have little to no interest in doing that. I'm getting side tracked, Scarlet and Violet only continued to look more and more depressing and you know what, I gave up on the game entirely. I cannot bring myself to buy it as a christmas gift for anyone I know because I cannot support this, nor do I have the time and energy to rip on a game that doesn't deserve my time and energy. If this were any other franchies, this would have killed it, and in all honesty, it should have killed Pokemon. But because it's Pokemon, the only way Gamefreak will learn is if they actually decided to CARE next time around. And in all honesty, I don't see that happening. All it makes me wish for is for Yo-Kai Watch to come back to the states but I sure as hell know that Level-5 won't do that. From a gameplay standpoint, This is just everything wrong with gaming at this point: The utter fascination with open world gaming. I feel like all these studios are looking at Breath of the Wild, thinking what made Breath of the Wild so great, was it the world design, was it the combat system and the fact that the world itself, despite beign so large, truly never really felt that empty? Well the developers of today seemingly don't think so, it was the crafting that everyone is obsessed with! It's what has pushed me away from the number of open world games that are coming out because there's NOTHING to really collect to boost your capabilities in game. Open World Games have just become Tedious Grinding Simulators under a different name. I'm not against open world games, but at least with Sonic Frontiers, a game that I reallly liked that still has a plethora of problems, the little collectables you got to actually meant something (IE: those collectables went towards story progression, opening cyberspapce levels (Which suck but let's ignore that for now), and upgrading your speed, attack, and defense). I'm not saying that a game has to be 100% linear to be fantastic, some openworldness is appreciated, but a truly open world game is really difficult to make right, and developers are learning that the hard way. Point blank: That's what happened here. There is a game here like you said, one that could have been fully fleshed out. There were people who worked on this game who wanted the game to succeed, specifically from the artists because a lot of the new pokemon look cool and the dunsparce evolution is funny, but that work wasn't fully apreciatted by higher ups because they needed to meet their yearly quota. I will still play the older games from time to time, but I know I'll be staying far and away from the newer entries. If I wanted to play an open world Pokemon game with crafting mechanics, I'll play Pixelmon.
Open world games are forced upon consumers, I HATE THEM. BOTW, Minecraft, Terreria, just all complete and utter garbage in my opinion. I enjoy DIFFICULTY! They haven't made a good pokemon since gen 6.
I'll at least buy PMD games, and maybe Legends games, but no mainline games outside of that unless they put actual effort into them. I actually bought RTDX used because SwSh made me not comfortable with buying any game new, and I kinda regret it because RTDX was actually _amazing._
@@michaelhawkinson4180Nah, open world games are fine. BotW was kinda mediocre, but Minecraft is great and I hear Terraria is as well. TotK is also pretty damn good. My favorite game ever, Xenoblade X, is an open world and it absolutely mastered the genre. Open world Pokémon has absolutely insane potential, but it would need a large budget, time, and talented new developers who would actually want to work on it. The only Pokemon game I've gotten since Black/White 2 is Brilliant Diamond, and so far I'm having a great time with it, but that's not saying much since Game Freak didn't even develop it, plus It's sad that the best Pokemon game on switch is almost literally a copy and paste of an old game from before they started sucking 😂, I'm planning on giving Pokemon Shield a go though, I just hope it doesn't disappoint me, but I have a feeling it might. It's expansion pass and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet though? Fuck that, I'm especially not wasting my money on SW/SD's expansion pass, but Scarlet and Violet also just look so lame to me, and definitely aren't worth their price tag, maybe if they go on sale (which they probably won't cuz Nintendo/GameFreak is greedy 😂) I'll check them out, but that's only if I actually even like Pokemon Shield when I eventually play through it
Pokemon isn't going to change until they have their Resident Evil 6 moment. Despite being the best selling RE game of all time, RE6 did so bad critically that capcom knew they had to change and look how they were able to turn around the franchise.

@@cowboy6993 Yeah same. Here's hoping the sequel to Breath of the Wild is way better then this sorry excuse of a game. He even failed to mention that theirs no way to advance time in that game so you can hunt for certain Pokemon. A feature that Morrowind had 20 years ago.
Most of the fanbase is og players for years they are trying to appeal to a new gen who more than likely will walk away come highschool years and so on. So they are wasting their efforts shouldve just stayed to the OG fanbase who know the games the most.
The reason there is no shiny noise is sadder than you think. It's because they couldn't figure out how to stop pokemon from spawning out of bounds in most areas so the sound would frequently just alert you to a shiny pokemon behind the a wall or above the ceiling.
That bit about Game Freak not having the ability to give us a game that actually lives up to the potential of the world hits hard. Ever since I was a kid growing up on the OG Pokemon anime, I dreamed of a game that could give us the same sense of adventure. The same depth of battle strategy. The technology is there. It's Game Feak, TPC, and Creatures, Inc. that can't live up to those expectations. But a big part of the blame is on us, too. I originally planned to skip this gen until my mom got me Scarlet for my birthday. And come on, you can't not play something your mom gives you for your birthday, right? Then I fell back into my old habits, bought Violet to complete the dex and bought the DLC for both games. I'm a part of the problem, too.
I’m been a Pokemon fan since day 0. Before America even knew what it was, I was hype for the anime and writing fanfic about the future journey I would take through the GB originals. I fell off in the DS era because I was busy with college and the series wasn’t evolving. I came back in the 3DS because it looked like they were trying again, and I’ve played and enjoyed the series since well ENOUGH, with Legends Arceus being more fun I’ve had with a mainline Pokemon since Gen 2. But SV is literally incomplete and unfinished. So I rented it, realized how bad it was, and didn’t finish other (why bother if GF themselves couldn’t be bothered?). But despite its surface level plot and bare bones PS2 era presentation, the main characters STUCK with me, because I could tell someone CARED, someone put in effort, and Toby Fox’s tunes helped carry those headcanons a tier higher. Now I’m looking up what I can of the game’s story because Nemona and her ADHD hyperfixating ass remind me of who I was at her age, just as obsessed with Pokemon. I adore Penny and Arven, too. I’m writing fanfic, putting my older-than-most heart into it. But this game is ASS. These characters deserved better. GameFreak’s employees putting in the work deserve more time and resources. This franchise and its fans deserve better. And like you said, with profits like these, they have no incentive to improve. So I’m done with the mainline games until they prove that management gives a shit. Forcing people to wait works just fine for Animal Crossing, Mario, and Zelda, fans will still be just as eager if we have to wait a couple extra years,p. GF needs to hire more people with more experience, and be giving more time and resources, and actually DESIGN within their means and with care and thought. We’ll see if that happens, but I ain’t optimistic at the moment.
the last gen i truly enjoyed was gen 6. It was truly a step up from the past technicaly , had megas, great customization and nice cities and towns. Also the pokemon were more appealing to me than gen 9's but whatever.
I agree. Gen 6 in general, from the new Pokemon to the regions to Megas to the animations to the main and side games to the manga, felt like the last time I felt hype for Pokemon period. 2020-early 2022 seemed like a gradual return to form for me as a fan, but then SV's sudden announcement, the rest of 2022, and now this February's Pokemon Presents dashed those hopes.
This is an opinion that all real true poke fans have imo. Anyone that likes sun&moon and beyond is a fucking casual because anything gens 7-9 are such a fucking disgrace
The game is a graphical MESS and holy burrito all the towns are so empty. It feels like horror movie quiet on top of all the buildings I can't explore. Arceus was so much better on every level
Well, u guys now have a 1.2.O update patch; which is just another patch that doesn't bring u a performance fix, but does bring u a message from GAME FREAK saying: "Here, quick, buy our $35 DLC!"
Great video. I'll be honest: I didn't buy SV because of how jank it looked from the outset, and from everything I saw when it came out, I'm glad that I didn't buy it. You tore down every problem the game has and more. The sad thing is that if this game hadn't been announced not even a month after PLA came out, I would probably consider buying it. I should also note that before the February Pokemon Presents, I had hope that 2023 would have enough interesting content to look forward to and SV would be patched enough for me to consider buying. Well, after that absolute waste of a Presents, I felt not only depressed but fucking empty inside after that. Fucking Sleep was the biggest highlight of it. So now, not only will I not buy SV's vague DLC, but I'm never going to buy SV period now. Unless they make X2Y2/Z or Legends: Kyurem or Zygarde, I think I'm done feeling hyped over what the franchise presents now. The franchise post-2016 feels like an entirely different entity than it was pre-2016, and I just feel done with caring about new releases now. It's personally sad for me to say, but at least I still have other franchises to look forward to, like Zelda, Megaten, Sonic, and Kirby.
I wish pokemon had an online future... similar to Genshin. Imagine the quality animation and graphics of a PC, open world game with an ever expanding universe that gets bigger and progresses the story with each update. Not to say Genshin doesn't have it's faults... but the concept of an ever expanding pokemon universe on a players account with PC graphics... what a dream.
GF literally spent the whole SV budget on the credits song and said well... I'd say the alpha works well enough; ship it. That said, you thought Elden Ring felt unfinished? If anything I felt like they had a complete game by the time you finished the Capital round 1 but they decided to just make more crap for the hell of it.
At least those games still had some old fun, there was nothing great or new about them but they were just there, gen 9 however is one of the worst games in history.

24:26 Well there's your problem. You "had" Pokemon as your most influential video game series, when they pulled "this stunt" (aka SV), but you could say their whole run on the Switch has been...."shady" DANGANRONPA SPOILERS But then you have Danganronpa who made a series and at the very end of it, you get a fourth wall break, where the creators basically says. "Man, we're fucking tired of making these games, can't you people move on?" like "Jeez Kodaka, sorry for supporting your series....asshole." Two different approaches, but either way they're series in which the creators don't give AF about the fans.

They won’t sell merchandise if they don’t release a new game…even though the TCG for this generation just release and Ash’s journey ended on March 2023 in the anime…how does that work? They delayed everything else, why not the games? I went back now to Sword and shield because I’m terrified about the rare yet unpredictable corrupt and unreadable save data bug…. Again it’s super rare but since no one knows what’s triggering it ( conflicting stories of the cause being Pokémon go connection for the Vivilon and DLC download) I’ve switched to gen 8 for now…
The dlc shit is infuriating to me. No we have to scam you with two add-ons just to take your money. That's so brilliant, I could've sworn I've caught all of these pokemon in the last generations. Just to catch the same dumbass pokemon we've been catching since it's conception.
Idk if anyone else noticed we this but id like to add to the issues with the graphics EVERY MOUNTAINS TEXTURE IS CLEARLY TILING They are not using procedural materials to prevent this from happening and are instead clearly using an image texture leading to it looking like a goddamn bathroom floor u can clearly see the seams of the texture

The rest of the game is dogshit and it only gets worse when you compare it to other Switch games. Xenoblade 2 was made by less than half of the amount of people and also in less time, and yet look at it. They even fixed performance issues after launch, which is something Game Freak hasn't done. All they did was put a bandaid on the much more severe issues.
My first Pokémon game was White, Sun was kind of Neat, very frustrating in my memory, and Sword broke me tbh. I swore off the series for SMT and will probably never return unless they make another rumble game. Those games were fantastic.
Pokemon S/V is the "Sonic 06" of the franchise, and you can't change my mind. Great ideas, but it is glitchy, unfinished, and rushed. At least 06 didn't crash on me, unlike S/V (6 times it crashed; unacceptable). Plus, a banger soundtrack. I barely remembered S/V's soundtrack.
Honestly, bizarre to say, but I wish Pokémon was a live service so they could stick with one game and just introduce new regions as content. That way the insane production cycles could actually make some sense.
I think a live service Pokémon game would be fine, but I wanna see them start making stretched out big budget AAA games that look as good as TotK and Xenoblade 3 while also having tons of content and no compromises. I've wanted this for so long.
Ah yea, live service games. The type of Games that are only about wallet gamers while barely offering content. As far as I'm concerned Pokemon us already an live service game only lacking a cash shop offering competitive items or pokemons.. although thats what Home is gor
@@DarkKerialstraz Pokemon is not a live service game, live service games get updates that add content and polish on a regular basis. If there's no one playing your game because there's nothing to do then no one's spending money on a cash shop either. What Pokemon is doing instead of building on what they've already released is putting out broken, unfinished products that are to be taken out to pasture and shot after a few patches to fix bugs and performance issues while fundamental game design issues continue to exist.
Watching this while the dlc is coming out, it really feels hopeless watching everyone eat up half-baked soulless content just padding gamefreaks overflowing pockets

It's hard to understand what each new game entails when the playerbase continuously downplays problems or ignores mentioning them, altogether. The last one I bought was Sun, and it was just too boring... What don't you like about New Pokémon Snap? I haven't heard anything bad about it.
yo, thanks for the comment - for me, snap is definitely on the lower end of the shit scale of that graphic, as it was moreso just not as engaging as i was expecting rather than being outright bad. it can definitely be fun, but replaying the same stages so often can drag a little. i get that the point of the game is discovering new photo ops in each new run, and playing stages on higher rankings/finding new paths is definitely exciting, but redoing them over and over and taking the same pictures just to rank up the area or get one new photo can get tiring. plus the illumina stages are pretty boring i never played the original so i may be missing some of the nostalgia factor as well. again, it's a nice little made game and i would recommend it if you're interested, but it wasn't as fun as i would have hoped.
I just got to the pokemon league desk. After suffering and getting my time wasted with all the useless dialogue, the cutscenes i cant skip, all the stupid gym challenges when i just want to fight trainers, all the trekking through the lifeless open world, the lack of routes and trainers on the routes.. no rebattles, the lame Lets Go challenges of the Team Star bases, the wierd Titan battles which made me think i would catch cool paradox pokemon but instead its some common trash that just ate bigger.... i just got to the pokemon league desk and they are STILL asking me questions. WTF! Can i actually play the game and just fight with my pokemon? When that stupid girl at the desk asked me "who was the hardest gym leader and what was their name?" I just turned off my switch. I've never played a game so ugly. Pokemon Gen 1 had more character than this, and Gen 1 aged BADLY. That says something.
I mean, is anybody even surprised? With the dumpster-fire that was both sword and shield and bdsp, how is anybody surprised? I thought it was common knowledge that Pokémon has become a shell of what it once was. They have completely given up on making decent games.
Not being able to turn off battle animations and not being able to use L=A made this game borderline unplayable for me. I don’t care about graphics at all, but those two things along with the weird “lag” I got throughout the entire game… idk maaan
Bruh, I 100% agree with you on pokemon on the switch. Every iteration has sucked with Arceus being the best, least sucking game. But BRUH, the outer worlds?! I had so much fun with that game and it’s dlc! It obviously doesn’t look as crisp as it does on every other platform but I loved that game on switch
Pokémon is literally my favorite game franchise ever, but I'm so tired of the low quality content we are getting from the latest Pokémon game for a ridiculous $60, I quit ahead as soon as they announced Scarlet/Violet, and what do you know the games do suck. I really feel bad for Nintendo because they have to sit through this embarrasement, and I feel bad for GameFreak because they never get more time and a higher budget to smooth out the game and make it better because of tight schedules, I have a very low opinion of The Pokémon Company right now. They are not getting my money anymore.

The dex is one of the most stacked there's ever been and ended up introducing pokemon that would become staples on my competitive teams in later games (looking at you Eelektross ❤️).
S/M had an amazing story, very underrated games in terms of plot and characters. It was the last time I genuinely loved playing the games.
facts
Gen 7 did have a pretty good story, but I really didn't like the game itself. The map kind of just sucked and I thought the overall pacing was really bad. I remember being super frustrated with getting needlessly dragged away from progression for way too long every time I entered a new area. The overall experience was so frustrating that Gen 7 was my reason for quitting mainline altogether, with PLA being my only exception since.
Sun and Moon and ORAS are goated modern Pokémon games.
Finally, someone gets it. Gen 7 was awesome.
Imagine that defense being used for Sonic 06-
Actually this feels very reminiscent of Sonic 06 really.
But back to Graphical issues:
I remember playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 3 this year, a game that had it's release date set forward because the development team finished the game faster than expected, getting to the hidden area "Forerunner's Tower" and being utterly blown away how you could see the very beginning of that area that you started in, in decent detail to boot.
Still better than Sword and Shield. That game was a piece of...
I'll at least buy PMD games, and maybe Legends games, but no mainline games outside of that unless they put actual effort into them. I actually bought RTDX used because SwSh made me not comfortable with buying any game new, and I kinda regret it because RTDX was actually _amazing._

Fun fact: the first town, los platos, translates to “the dishes”

I mean.. Gen 6 was half baked in the story department, but I agree with everything else. I’d do the last truly good Gen was B&W/B2W2. Perfection.
gen 7 mogs 6
The game is a graphical MESS and holy burrito all the towns are so empty. It feels like horror movie quiet on top of all the buildings I can't explore.
Arceus was so much better on every level
This video is like a prescription drug that cures my pain.
The main issue is people buying the games no matter what
im going to litteraly laugh if rerez makes a just bad games review on pokemon violet
My head canon is that the School let Penny dress how she wants because they were scared she was going to shoot the place up 🤷♂️
"When you blow half your budget on Toby Fox"
Deltarune keeps winning, lmao.
Well, u guys now have a 1.2.O update patch; which is just another patch that doesn't bring u a performance fix, but does bring u a message from GAME FREAK saying: "Here, quick, buy our $35 DLC!"
This game made me appreciate Sword/Shield.
They're both trash
@@Jayn-Syncreal
That’s what scares me imagine a gen 5 remake being absolutely worse than BdSp like WTF Gamefreak are just lazy
I'd only want to be able to enter building again.
Ten months later and yeah this game got absolutely no improvements. I'm done with mainline Pokemon games. I'm not doing this anymore.
It's personally sad for me to say, but at least I still have other franchises to look forward to, like Zelda, Megaten, Sonic, and Kirby.
now the games have a save deletion bug 💀
a WHAT now?!
Betcha there is a ROMhack done by a single person in a single week that fixes the entire game and adds at least 2 regions
ive just walked away from the franchise at this point 💀
"Craft more of zee teee ehms!" Honestly I laughed so hard at this one. Friendly greetings from Germany (。・ω・。)ノ♡
They did it.
They announced a DLC.
... I'm glad I'm staying with PLA
*CD Project Red:* Wie hart wollt ihr auch reinsсhеissеn?
*Game Freak:* Ja
I wish pokemon had an online future... similar to Genshin.
Imagine the quality animation and graphics of a PC, open world game with an ever expanding universe that gets bigger and progresses the story with each update.
Not to say Genshin doesn't have it's faults... but the concept of an ever expanding pokemon universe on a players account with PC graphics... what a dream.
13:00 bro just described minecraft
Great video, man! You summed up how I feel about SV very well! Also... that Blazblue CF menu music I hear near the end of the vid, great choice. 👀
pokemon makes me sad
me too homie 😔
Gamefreak makes pokemon sad
GF literally spent the whole SV budget on the credits song and said well... I'd say the alpha works well enough; ship it.
That said, you thought Elden Ring felt unfinished? If anything I felt like they had a complete game by the time you finished the Capital round 1 but they decided to just make more crap for the hell of it.
Just as you were talking about how hard shiny Pokémon are to spot I spotted a fricking shiny Scatterbug. What are the odds.
name it Fungus Phil for me
@@hiimstelI will, thank you for this blessing
the word you are looking for is "Enshitification", it's happening in gaming too.
this might be an hot take but Black/White 2 and Ultra Sun/Moon was peak pokemon to me
I dont think bw2 is a hot take but usum is definitely one i dont hear often
will:'' can you make me a sandwhich?'' ''NOH.'' -jeffrey, ''fresh prince of bel air.''
The breaking point wasn't sword and shield? Or ultra sun and moon?
He was too innocent back then.
At least those games still had some old fun, there was nothing great or new about them but they were just there, gen 9 however is one of the worst games in history.
@@DarknessIsThePathHonestly as someone who enjoyed Ultra Moon, Sword, and Shield, I loathe Scarlet and Violet. However I also loved Black and White too.
@@xx_azura_xx8899 Same, I did not enjoy Gen 8 as much as previous gens but I got my money's worth. Gen 9 I dont even bother to finish nor play ever again lol
@@DarknessIsThePath yep, I don’t blame you. I can’t even stand the Gym leaders. Plus the game just looks so dull. I am no longer considering any game after Sword and Shield canon.
Pokemon S/V is like a shit mountain version of sword and shield that’s falling apart
I can't get over the fact that the world looks like it was made from Kinetic Sand lol
Also don't think I didn't notice the UDG ost at 3:48
12:47 bro really turned into Richtofen 💀
24:26 Well there's your problem. You "had" Pokemon as your most influential video game series, when they pulled "this stunt" (aka SV), but you could say their whole run on the Switch has been...."shady"
DANGANRONPA SPOILERS
But then you have Danganronpa who made a series and at the very end of it, you get a fourth wall break, where the creators basically says. "Man, we're fucking tired of making these games, can't you people move on?" like "Jeez Kodaka, sorry for supporting your series....asshole."
Two different approaches, but either way they're series in which the creators don't give AF about the fans.
European here. Our Aldis are not, in fact, divided between Cheese or Soda Aldis. Germany divides between Aldi North and South instead, with different items for some reason.
the ugc and lighting always gets me bro- its terrible
The cheese ALDI and Sods ALDI skit took me the fuck out lmfao
Idk if anyone else noticed we this but id like to add to the issues with the graphics EVERY MOUNTAINS TEXTURE IS CLEARLY TILING
They are not using procedural materials to prevent this from happening and are instead clearly using an image texture leading to it looking like a goddamn bathroom floor u can clearly see the seams of the texture
eyyyy shout out to AI Somnium Files 🔥🔥
I used to buy every single pokemon entry. I havent bought one since Sun and Moon. Im BEGGING them to release a good game so I can buy one, but I flat out refuse to pay for something so shitty
You’ve got Elden ring and Luigi’s mansion 3 on your shit list?
Bro tried so hard to be avgn without even trying and failed.
I'm not the only one that see this video's issue he did not like the good games came after 2018😂😂😂😂
I posted my 1/10 on Reddit and the mods locked it after 14 hours. Reddit is circle jerking the poorly written game so hard they cope.
Reddit is a joke period. It's all a circle jerk of small minds (mostly).
Fanboys of this game are clowns.
Reddit is a terrible sight. Ego maniacs and echo chambers create a terrible site lol.
To me the echo chamber is people bashing this game non-stop.
@@miimiiandcoI don't think SV _doesn't_ have good things in it, I like _some_ of the new Pokémon designs, and the Pokémon models are high quality and have good textures, but come on.
You should total make a video about the dlc. Id be on that vid asap. This was well entertaining
Replaying it recently. The bugs are still present and it’s unplayable at some points 🤦
The 2018 comment was so real like theirs been games that I I’ve enjoyed but it’s felt off
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Subway Simulator.
Honestly, bizarre to say, but I wish Pokémon was a live service so they could stick with one game and just introduce new regions as content. That way the insane production cycles could actually make some sense.
So true. It should just follow Genshin Impact
Pokemon Company: "But muh munny"
Why doesn’t this video have more likes!? Nintendo needs to see this asap!
The discord room Stel was in was named:"Genning is okay"
Genning is NOT okay. Its lame, its cheap, and it downplays the archievements of professional Shiny hunters like me.
Long-time watcher, first-time commenter. Thanks for the informative PSAs on modern Pokémon games. It's hard to understand what each new game entails when the playerbase continuously downplays problems or ignores mentioning them, altogether. The last one I bought was Sun, and it was just too boring...
What don't you like about New Pokémon Snap? I haven't heard anything bad about it.
yo, thanks for the comment - for me, snap is definitely on the lower end of the shit scale of that graphic, as it was moreso just not as engaging as i was expecting rather than being outright bad.
it can definitely be fun, but replaying the same stages so often can drag a little. i get that the point of the game is discovering new photo ops in each new run, and playing stages on higher rankings/finding new paths is definitely exciting, but redoing them over and over and taking the same pictures just to rank up the area or get one new photo can get tiring. plus the illumina stages are pretty boring
i never played the original so i may be missing some of the nostalgia factor as well. again, it's a nice little made game and i would recommend it if you're interested, but it wasn't as fun as i would have hoped.
@@hiimstel Thanks for the timely reply!
Everything Toby Fox touches it gets rotten, beware.
Ultra Moon is a masterpiece next to this game
As European I won’t stand for soda Aldi being insulted. Soda Aldi is the backbone of the continent.
The french voice was hot
Not being able to turn off battle animations and not being able to use L=A made this game borderline unplayable for me. I don’t care about graphics at all, but those two things along with the weird “lag” I got throughout the entire game… idk maaan
Bruh, I 100% agree with you on pokemon on the switch. Every iteration has sucked with Arceus being the best, least sucking game.
But BRUH, the outer worlds?! I had so much fun with that game and it’s dlc! It obviously doesn’t look as crisp as it does on every other platform but I loved that game on switch
He also didn't like elden ring
Pokémon is literally my favorite game franchise ever, but I'm so tired of the low quality content we are getting from the latest Pokémon game for a ridiculous $60, I quit ahead as soon as they announced Scarlet/Violet, and what do you know the games do suck. I really feel bad for Nintendo because they have to sit through this embarrasement, and I feel bad for GameFreak because they never get more time and a higher budget to smooth out the game and make it better because of tight schedules, I have a very low opinion of The Pokémon Company right now. They are not getting my money anymore.
