I’m 63. These days it seems that most people on TH-cam just want to sell you something. They are desperate for money, likes and subs. It’s become a massive rat race. I’ve had my board gaming channel since 2013 and have close to 10K subscribers, and never monetized it. To me it’s a hobby; I upload videos when I want, no particular pace. The goal for me isn’t really to “grow” the channel, but to enjoy the process. I never ask people to like or subscribe. Those who do so, do it out of their heart. And I have come to know many of them through the years. I love it like this.
686 subs my wife and i give it our all for years. We spend hundreds if not thousands on each video. We don't expect to make money. We do it because we love it. We keep trucking because we love sharing our adventures. Who knows where you tube will be years from now. But we believe there is room for everyone.
Your positive comment made me check out your channel and subscribe. People like you will keep the heart of YT alive. It's really NOT just about the numbers. ❤❤❤
I super appreciate this!! We started our channel earlier this year and saw a boom of growth then…crickets. It can be discouraging BUT we are so proud of everything we have learned while filming our traveling adventures. I am a firm believer in being a lifelong learner so refining storytelling, filming, and editing skills has been so beneficial to us, regardless of monetization (though I would be lying if I didn’t say we still hope for that one day!).
I really disagree with some of what your saying. I really think you need to look at it as fun and if your make money at it its a bonus. This is coming from a person that was at 2,080 subscribers and in 3 months went to 161,000 subscribers! If you work at it the right way it will grow!
I love the video. It's very true and honest as someone that has been here since 06, monetization was unheard off and passion fueled youtube at the time. Times have changed and although youtube is more saturated than ever before, this is still a great platform to grow and start something special 🚀

🚀 There you go, I watched until the end! 😁
I've got under 250 subs at the moment, my "niche" is already flooded with people far better than me at producing content, but I enjoy the process so it's all good. Would be lovely to get to the point I can earn a bit from it, but that would be a bonus! I'm actually gobsmacked that over 200 people actually like what I'm doing if I'm honest and I'm grateful to every one of them for clicking that subscribe button. 🙂
Keep it up you can keep learning and getting better each day. Thanks for watching it all 🔥
