I've been 2 years on TH-cam, and I am currently at 868 subscribers. I always fall into the comparison game, and I often have to remind myself that it's about the journey and not the goal. I do it because I want to create and educate. I also am doing it at this point to build my character, to keep going, even though I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. I totally agree with you! There's no perfect time to start a TH-cam channel. I just jumped in and started streaming without even thinking about making fancy videos. I had an idea, so I went for it. I've learned a ton along the way, and I actually love the challenges. 😁

Something that’s helped me continue creating and not giving up is telling myself that “TH-cam doesn’t owe me anything.” It’s a stupid saying but it helped me realize why I want to do TH-cam which is to just create. Even if people don’t subscribe I still want to share lol 😂
I'm 4 months into my journey and still enjoying it and just focus on figuring it out one video at a time. Thanks for this video it encourages me to keep going
I'll admit that it wasn't an audience that I was looking for, but the free cloud storage of some really long 30 to 90 minute videos that I wanted to make to entertain myself. The audience found me. They've been so wonderful and so loyal to my channel, seeing my channel in its "ugly duckling" stage as a newbie creator and patiently letting it evolve into something better.
Early TH-camrs over here, as well! Nearly at 250 subscribers on month 2! Growth is slow, but still onward & upward! :) Thanks so much for sharing from your experience - I find it so helpful to learn from folks who are farther along on the journey.
I started in mid February and I'm currently at 520 subs. It can be very discouraging when you work really hard on a video do tons of editing etc and it just doesn't catch on. I checked your older video's and I see that you've had the same issue sometimes. You've got some videos that haven't gotten a 100 views yet mixed in with some that have done much better.
Congrats! It took me 8 months to pass 1000 subs and get monetized. It is hard work with a busy life. I made lots of mistakes and learn something new every day. Stick with it!
Thank you for your honesty. I started with every day videos. Then I reduced to once a week, then every month. Then I went back to once a week. I do what I can. We don't have to be too strict to ourselves.

Thank you for the advice. I think the key is to definitely have passion for it. People can sense when people are going through the motions and aren't really excited about the subject they are filming about for their channel. Also research. Study what others are doing and why they are having success and learn from that. I am thinking about starting my own channel and at the moment I am helping a creator build their channel and I am learning from that to apply to my own channel one day hopefully. It's tough but a lot of fun.
Growing subs is relatively easy though... The real issue is getting the views with an algorithm that by default "hates" small channels. We reached 2.6k subs well within two years, but still don't get impressions from the algorithm and therefore little views. We have been steadily at 1400 watch hours/Yr for well over a year now. We actually gave up on this two months ago, and we're still at 1400 hours watch time! It's insane. In by far most niches it's very unlikely to ever get monetized on youtube today. We did this for 2 years spending 50-60 hours a week on the channel. It's not worth it.
I disagree with this. The algorithm has actually changed recently to support and boost smaller channels more often. I'm seeing this a lot on my own home feed. Its not the algorithm its the viewers who are choosing to watch or not watch videos. It is bloody hard that's for sure. but if you keep at it you will eventually see results.
@JohnWi11is recently brand new channels get a push indeed. That wasn't the case when we started though... The algorithm currently does not work in the interest of viewers, like it used to. We literally have long-form vids with up to 80% AVD, over 20% clickrate getting likes, subs....Those are the videos the algorithm should be pushing. But no, the algorithm stopped pushing them after just 1k or 2k impressions and even refuses to show our new vids to our own subscribers! (Even the ones who've hit the bell!). That makes it impossible to ever grow, no matter what you do. We do have 2.6k subs, with very low views per video. So people WANT to see more of us. The algorithm doesn't let them though. It's simple facts. Not something you can disagree with tbh...

Nice to meet you, first of all I love your background! You seem like a very genuine person who actually deserves WAY more subs than you have. Some really great advice there. Technically I started TH-cam when I was 16 but wasn't serious about it to become a partner. To give you an idea I am just about to turn 40 this month..lol Then I started properly last August to grow my TH-cam channel which is a Disability Inclusive Kids Channel and can definitely feel the struggle to grow but I absolutely love video editing and I have a son who has a disability myself and I more or less test my video with him first to see how he responds..lol Anyhow I liked and Subscribed! Keep up the good work!

Keep your energy to last long instead of racing towards a goal that might not be attainable within a short time frame.

Great video! It really is not easy to get 1000 subs. I just hit 200 the other day and I find that every time I post BUT only for a day or 2 I will get subs. Then no subs until I post again. Shorts is the fastest way to grow! Work your way up to longer videos you only need 3 to monetize. Correct me if I'm wrong! Oh remember if it was easy I think TH-cam would suck with all the boring content. So don't stop trying and never give up!! We can all hit 1000 if that's what you really want! If not go for whatever makes you happy as that's the most important thing in life! LET'S GO!!!!!!!! 💪 😎 ❤👍 💯

I started my channel 2 weeks ago. I don't have many subs yet. It's definitely a micro channel. I post every 4 days, fingers crossed it gets noticed!
