Nuts sold by weight in shops are not cheap unless highly discounted and near the end of their shelflife. Some of the material will be smeared into the blender, and require hot water to clean it (more cost). To make the product cheaper, I would stretch it with butter. Don't know any tasty vegan alternatives.

I’m not vegan, but I think sustainability is really important and I really enjoy your videos. You very rarely get instructed on how to make simple on-shelf products such as peanut butter, which is such a shame as it means people don’t think to make their own and waste a lot of plastic containers etc.

For unshelled peanuts it is good to roast them about 20-25 minutes on 350F/180 C°
For almonds same temperature but timing is different 10-15 min with cont. stirring
Hazelnuts same temp. And aprox. 15 min.
Keep in mind that not always they stick to this time. If needed you can take them out a bit later or earlier.
      :)

@@user-mw4wl5zl1z There is 50 °C of difference between the two. Or, the latter is 33.33 % higher. So, I agree she should have mentioned the temperature.

I haven't made almond butter for a long time, but this is the way I do it. One thing I will point out is that the amount of almond butter is half the amount of the original nuts. (So two cups makes one cup of butter.) I just want to share a tip I learned when trying to double the recipe. Basically, it didn't work, and the food processor just wouldn't make the butter, until I removed half the nuts. (It ground up, it just wouldn't make the butter.) Since then, I would do two batches separately if I want to double the recipe.
