Just did this in my truck, broke 2 t-20’s trying to adjust the voltage , put a lot heat on it , it helped but after breaking the second one I stopped . This fixed my dead pedal problem. Thanks for the video
Thank you for this video sir my dad is a contractor and his usual truck went down and he has a 2004 3500 dodge 5.9 cummins dually and he was having these issues with his truck just so busy with his work to get around fixing it so i did the research and stumbled upon your video and it did wonders for the repair also purchased the part you mentioned such a great product btw and now its running like a champ thank you!
I just got codes 2121 and 2123 on my 04 5.924 valve. I just did the battery disconnect and then APPS reset. Hopefully that solves my problem but if not this video will really help me out. This is my first diesel. The wife and I wanted a better tow truck for our fifth wheel.
Excellent teaching video. I really appreciate your explanation and sharing this video! From one really small channel to your larger channel…THANKS, Tim in northern TN
Great help! Thank you. I had an aftermarket sensor without any information so I just followed what you did and kept slowly adjusting until code went away and idled correctly. Most other help sites just used .55 volts. Mine calibrated to .46 volts. Code went away and idles like a kitten.
Good video. Now I need your opinion. Iam getting a ABS and Brake light on my 1998 Dodge 2500, 24 valve Diesel. My first thought was a faulty speed sensor on universal. However when I run codes it gives me a P0122 and P1693 which indicates a faulty TPS. I also had a check engine light but that has since disappeared. My question is : why would ABS and brake light show if TPS is in fact bad? Are they related some how? Or are they both bad? No code indicating speed sensor however just ABS and brake light.
Great video and explanation! I don't need one but, it's probably just a matter of time with my 2nd gen being mostly original so I wanted to be prepped.
Man that was an excellent video for the TPS. I just acquired an 01 2500 and my buddy said he changed the TPS with a knockoff and then back to an OEM. I'm guessing he didn't adjust or calibrate it correctly. He claims it'll run and drive (i don't know, just got it yesterday and it wouldn't crank for dead batteries) but that it is sluggish in 5th and 6th gear and the turbo doesn't want to spool up. We'll see, I'm going to get some batteries and get to work on it soon. Any other advice you can give? Thank you for the clear concise explanation.
Hey I have a 1999 24v that is idling at 1000-1200 after tapping the throttle. It only goes away once in gear I follows everything in the video but still doing it. Any suggestions.
My truck doesn’t have a dead pedal and can drive but it’s idling at about 1200. I’ve tried researching to see if this is common with the AAPS but everything I’ve read says it has a high idle AND dead pedal? Just trying to make sure it’s the AAPS before I drop the cash and that’s not it…
Just received the tps and am installing it. There is an enfaces to turn the tps clockwise after installing. IF there is no slack in the screw holes how much is it going to move? Seems like about 1 mm.
Hey there! I have no throttle anymore. What should I do now? I tried turning it to the ON position with slowly pushing the throttle in than releasing it slowly turning the truck off than turning back on and no throttle, engine light is on as well.
Did you disconnect the batteries before installing the new APPS? The batteries also need to be disconnected for 30 minutes before calibrating the new sensor.
Great explaining on calibrating the tps👍🏻 I don’t know if you’ve found your problem on the wait to start light issue but I’ve done 5 or 6 trucks now with that issue and it’s been something in the Ecm bad and I’ve got a local guy that I take them too and he charges about $400 to replace what’s wrong in the Ecm Every one of those trucks were 1999s and based off the color of your valve cover I’d say yours is probably a 99 or 98.5 so that might be your problem
Ive replaced mine like 4 times and it just acts the same. A dead pedal if i pump the throttle it comes back for a little bit then i get a nother dead pedal. What do you think sould i spend that $400 on OEM part???
@SirNoodle ok listen I have never even opened a transmission before in my life. But I gathered every part that was replaceable in the transmission and replaced them. Well not all, but all sensorss and solenoids also looked at all wires going to transmission replaced 2 of them. Adjusted the TV cable and replaced the batteries. It has only given me a dead pedal one time sense I did all that to it. Not sure witch one it was that stopped the dead pedal or sense it did it to me that one time if I even fixed it. I might have just put a good bandaid on it. Hopes this hel P]pp O ya never spent the $400 for OEM throttle sensor.
@SirNoodle O ya get the good solenoids not the OEM parts. The speed sensor I took it out twice and cleaned it off. Both times it was covered in metal shavings after that all was well.
Great video and explanation on the install. I needed to get my truck running quickly and got the China part from Amazon next day. It has the slotted holes. Nothing stamped on the China tps so I followed the Throughbred Diesel video install by Wade. I set the tps at .55 VDC. So far so good, but I'm shopping around to buy an OEM rated spare tps. Timbo is out of stock. I like how you set the "Idle" with the set screw. That way you are assured the dead zone is minimized on the throttle/pedal. However in your video you say that the "stamped" voltage and deduct 2 10th's. Stating if stamper 0.50 set the tps at 0.48. I think you mean deduct 2 100's. (0.02) In any case I understand the set-up. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!..and for the correction. Yes, I meant 0.02. Now if I could just find a throttle cable. Like the Timbo unit, throttle cables seem to be out of stock/backordered everywhere. I've ordered three, only to have the vendors cancel.
The cover at 6:50? Just remove the plastic push tabs. Mine are worn out so I just pulled them out by hand, but I believe you can use a small screwdriver or pick to work the center section out, then they should slide out. They're like a reusable plastic rivet.
@@myfoundrylife Mine turns out to be a plastic push tab on top, but needs a tiny short Phillips screwdriver to get the one on the front near the bottom. I had no idea before how it was secured. Thx.
Excuse me, i have a question. What is the page where you get it? I'm looking for it but we not find it Do you think you can help me with that? Honestly, I need one for my truck
It's the first link in the video description, then click "order" on the left side. Unfortunately, they show to be out of stock currently. There's an email address...you may be able to contact and see when they will be available.
Are you using a fairly good quality meter and/or have a good connection (it can be difficult with the paper clip)? If you're sure you are in the idle zone it may be fine, but if it has idle issues there is a tech support email on the website. I sent in a question and he responded within a day or two.

Fantastic video. Very helpful for the diy guy. This has got to be my initial pedal feel issue.

Excellent video, thank you for taking the time to teach us how to do this repair!
Great video! Saved me allot of time! Thanks for the link for the parts!
Help, please. For two days I’ve been getting random rpm surges. I did a reset of the TPS and still does it.
What is the third cable, just below the throttle cable? I can't find it in any parts diagram and my father-in-law's cable is frayed.
Thanks so much for the video!!! I’m not mechanically sound but I was able to get it installed and truck running.
Thank you for the video, looking forward to fixing my dad's apps issue!

Listing the year model would help, I have an 06, and it is not the same.
Does this apply to 6 speed trucks also?
Where can I get one of them sensor at
Thanks for that’s information
I have a dead pedal it revs and everything but doesn’t move could this be it ?
Thanks for detailed video.
Do the newer trucks not have these?
Is this the same for a 03 cummins
I believe it's the same unit, it's just located in a different spot on the later models. There's instructions on the website. Link in the description.
