I'm currently studying Latin for university and Spanish just for fun. My native tongue is German and I'm studying to become an English/History teacher here in Austria. However, I would very much like to one day teach abroad and learning new languages is definitely the way to go!

I relate so hard. So I’m not very good at my native language and I’m so much more comfortable speaking English and I feel so guilty about it because my parents are trilinguals 💀 and here I am, barely a bilingual lol but we move. I just talk to myself randomly throughout the day in my native language so I don’t forget it too much and build up on my vocabulary😊 or you could try doing a: “speaking Russian for 24 hours challenge” for yourself and gather vocabs throughout the day

Hi Anna, I speak spanish and now learning english. And because I´m an spanish native, i recommend you the mexican accent: it´s much easier to understand (as you said in the video) and is more common in the latinoamerica world. Con lo que sabes, creo que es suficiente para que te puedas comunicar un poco. Sobre los acentos, personalmente recomiendo que escuches el de México, más que nada para que te puedas facilitar un poco más, ya que el acento mexicano es "neutro" (en mayoría) y no tiene ese dejo/acento característico del dominicano, que te podría hacer confundir entre palabras y, claro, cuando manejes al completo el español entenderías tanto en el acento dominicano como los otros que hay en toda Latinoamérica y España, pero como lo dicho anteriormente, preferible el mexicano por su particular "simplicidad". Y por cierto, creo que tienes más acento mexicano, además usas algunas expresiones más conocidas del país jaja como "a lo mejor" o "de momento". You are doing well. Mucha suerte 💖
I agree as well! I am Dominican and although my Spanish is not the best hers was very well said! Dominican Spanish is also known as a more broken Spanish, so I would stick with Mexican accent or Colombian which is also my favorite.

The accent choosing is something very personal, but if you want some sugestions, I would say Mexican or Colombian accent. They are all cute and beautiful on their way, but I personally love these two

5:43 i usually really like the "neutral" accents (e.g: the ones from Central America) because when i hear them they sound naturally polite and it's just nice to hear. I'm paraguayan (it's a country located below Argentina) and our accent is pretty neutral as well, but i just think it's gonna be much easier to find resources for an accent from Central America. There's also a big difference between the way you speak if you're from Mexico or Spain, or if you're from Argentina or Paraguay (in Spain you'd say "tú eres feliz", and in Argentina "vos sos feliz"), so i think that's something you should look at as well and see what you prefer. Btw, your accent is so good, you inspire me so much ;).

As a Dominican myself, it’s very cool to hear that your favorite accent in Spanish is the Dominican accent. I moved to USA when I was 9 and I’m currently 17, and my Hispanic friends are all mostly Mexican and sometimes they find it difficult to understand my accent. So it is true that it is hard to understand, but you got this!
For people who are seeing this i got a great tip :) When there's some word you can't remember, you can repeat it all the time and form phrases with it to don't forget anymore, then after a time you try to remember again and if u remember it's alright yay but if u don't, u keep speaking and doing the same thing till this word keep on your mind, it helps me so much when there's some word that it's so hard to remember ;) Another tip! If your accent is bad, i got a "tip". You can "fix it" watching videos, series, cartoons etc... watching videos helped me a lot bc my accent now it's pretty good. But it wasn't the only thing that helped me out, talk alone was (and still is) my favorite thing to do and also helped with my accent That's it
You have a Korean roommate. Put Russian on hold for a bit. Your family is Russian, you will always have the opportunity to practice it. When covid lifts up in 4 years ( Singapore scientists predictions) you can travel all 11times zones of Russia, So ramp up your Russian in a couple of years for that trip. Just a thought ;-)

Ya que no hay sonidos como la /c/ o la /z/, creo que resulta más fácil y, a diferencia, de algunos acentos latinoamericanos, como es el caso del dominicano, no mezclamos sonidos como la /r/ o la /l/, que pueden dificultar la comprensión. Muy buen video. Estudie hace mucho tiempo ingles y ver tus videos me ayuda a recordar y mantener mi "ni nivel de ingles" por así decirlo intacto. Sobre el acento, en mi humilde opinión como hispano hablante, me gustaría recomendar el acento de mi país que es el peruano, ya que creo yo que es uno de los mas neutros y fáciles de entender para los extranjeros. Sigue así aprendiendo nuevos idiomas y algún día podrás conversar con cualquier persona del mundo. Espero este comentario en español te ayude mas a comprender este idioma y para hacerlo interesante escribiré una frase/ jerga (slang) de mi país con su significado para que puedas aprender mas, aquí va :" causa(friend), combi(bus), tabas(sneakers) ".Sigue así con tus videos que estoy seguro que inspiran a mucha gente. Hola! Soy dominicana, aquí no sería tanto el acento, más bien serían las expresiones o jergas. Cuando entiendes y te sabes las expresiones(jergas) ya te sale natural el acento.

I am a native Arabic speaker came from a Christian Greek orthodox family, whose my father is an Assyrian, so I identify as Greco-Assyrian, other than that I also speak fluent English and conversational Hebrew because I was born and raised in Jerusalem, I am obsessed with Greek ( I am half Anitochian greek) and I am learning it but I am also stuck at it, I really just wanna get vet fluent at it plus I am moving to Cyprus in 2 years or so. Plus I am really keen on starting with Georgian it’s a fascinating language, and Assyrian and also Brazilian Portuguese for some reason it’s very melodic to say the least. Others that I am very interested in are My ethnicity’s mother tongue which is Turoyo neo-Assyrian, Polish, Hungarian, and Romanian Soooo …. Let’s recap with some flags. 🇵🇸🇬🇧🇮🇱🇬🇷🇬🇪🇧🇷🇸🇾🇵🇱🇭🇺🇷🇴

5:43 i usually really like the "neutral" accents (e.g: the ones from Central America) because when i hear them they sound naturally polite and it's just nice to hear. I'm paraguayan (it's a country located below Argentina) and our accent is pretty neutral as well, but i just think it's gonna be much easier to find resources for an accent from Central America. There's also a big difference between the way you speak if you're from Mexico or Spain, or if you're from Argentina or Paraguay (in Spain you'd say "tú eres feliz", and in Argentina "vos sos feliz"), so i think that's something you should look at as well and see what you prefer. Btw, your accent is so good, you inspire me so much ;).

Hey Anna! I am from India and I am learning German.
As a Dominican myself, it’s very cool to hear that your favorite accent in Spanish is the Dominican accent. I moved to USA when I was 9 and I’m currently 17, and my Hispanic friends are all mostly Mexican and sometimes they find it difficult to understand my accent. So it is true that it is hard to understand, but you got this!
For people who are seeing this i got a great tip :)
When there's some word you can't remember, you can repeat it all the time and form phrases with it to don't forget anymore, then after a time you try to remember again and if u remember it's alright yay but if u don't, u keep speaking and doing the same thing till this word keep on your mind, it helps me so much when there's some word that it's so hard to remember ;)
Another tip!
If your accent is bad, i got a "tip". You can "fix it" watching videos, series, cartoons etc... watching videos helped me a lot bc my accent now it's pretty good. But it wasn't the only thing that helped me out, talk alone was (and still is) my favorite thing to do and also helped with my accent

You have a Korean roommate. Put Russian on hold for a bit. Your family is Russian, you will always have the opportunity to practice it. When covid lifts up in 4 years ( Singapore scientists predictions) you can travel all 11times zones of Russia, So ramp up your Russian in a couple of years for that trip. Just a thought ;-)

I genially love your videos so much!! No sé si es porque soy canaria, pero siento que el acento canario es más fácil de reproducir y de entender. Ya que no hay sonidos como la /c/ o la /z/, creo que resulta más fácil y, a diferencia, de algunos acentos latinoamericanos, como es el caso del dominicano, no mezclamos sonidos como la /r/ o la /l/, que pueden dificultar la comprensión. Muy buen video. Estudie hace mucho tiempo ingles y ver tus videos me ayuda a recordar y mantener mi "ni nivel de ingles" por así decirlo intacto. Sobre el acento, en mi humilde opinión como hispano hablante, me gustaría recomendar el acento de mi país que es el peruano, ya que creo yo que es uno de los mas neutros y fáciles de entender para los extranjeros. Sigue así aprendiendo nuevos idiomas y algún día podrás conversar con cualquier persona del mundo. Espero este comentario en español te ayude mas a comprender este idioma y para hacerlo interesante escribiré una frase/ jerga (slang) de mi país con su significado para que puedas aprender mas, aquí va :" causa(friend), combi(bus), tabas(sneakers) ".Sigue así con tus videos que estoy seguro que inspiran a mucha gente. Hola! Soy dominicana, aquí no sería tanto el acento, más bien serían las expresiones o jergas. Cuando entiendes y te sabes las expresiones(jergas) ya te sale natural el acento.
I'm currently studying french and german and I'm fluent in Persian ( my mother-tongue), English and Arabic ( I can read and write but i can't speak lol).
I speak Spanish and English (my native tongues), French (C1-C2) and Italian and Portuguese fluently, but I still need to brush up my Italian and Portuguese skills.
I am a native Arabic speaker came from a Christian Greek orthodox family, whose my father is an Assyrian, so I identify as Greco-Assyrian, other than that I also speak fluent English and conversational Hebrew because I was born and raised in Jerusalem,
I am obsessed with Greek ( I am half Anitochian greek) and I am learning it but I am also stuck at it, I really just wanna get vet fluent at it plus I am moving to Cyprus in 2 years or so.
Plus I am really keen on starting with Georgian it’s a fascinating language, and Assyrian and also Brazilian Portuguese for some reason it’s very melodic to say the least.
Others that I am very interested in are My ethnicity’s mother tongue which is Turoyo neo-Assyrian, Polish, Hungarian, and Romanian
