As a native Spanish speaker, I would recommend you to star with the abecedary. It sounds a bit obvious but many people forget that we read and pronounce every phrase literally how is written, so if you know how the letters should sound, and how to read de consonants + vowels then you have the basics for reading and speaking. For example in Spanish the word "hello" would be literally readed as "ello" since the H has no sound for us, and the double L has its own pronunciation (could be like "yo", "sho", "io", "llo" depending on the accent, but all are valid), while in English sound more like "jelou" lol.
After you have that, you can try grammar and vocabulary, since Portuguese and Spanish are very similar I don't think you'll have difficulties with it :) good luck!

Hi! You can watch movies in English with subtitles on, then rewatch it again but without subtitles. Listening to music and watch the translation also helps a lot, especially when is music you like. I'd also recommend writing in English, you can create a diary or just write random things in english. I've been doing that and it helps me a lot to see where I'm failing, my weak spots, and what I can improve. Basically just expose yourself to the language and practice, you'll see soon how you can master it.
My mother tongue is Spanish and I learned English by myself because in school, the learning is too slow and not motivating lol.
Although I'm not a pro at English, I think I can give advice hehe.

    For Chinese:
    - HSK books and textbooks
    - watching films/dramas/anything in chinese
    - listen to chinese songs (their old song are SO beautiful, and if you want to listen to smth modern - escape plan, jj lin, kris wu, wayv)
    - you definitely should practice your pronunciation out loud a lot of times and compare to speakers (hsk books will help)
    - you should write characters with your own hand to memorise them
As for duolingo, it might be helpful for practicing and checking vocab (grammar isn't always right)
В общем и целом - учиться, учиться и еще раз учиться, в смысле, practice :)))

I dont completely agree with your music suggestion since they don't use any tones while they sing (chinese=tonal language), but it's pretty helpful if you want to get into the culture more. If you don't use tones while you speak (after getting used to no tones in songs) you will probably sound like a white girl speaking Spanish lol 😂! Nothing coming out of your mouth would be correct, and they won't understand a signal word you say. Other than that though, it's pretty beautiful and motivating. :)

I’m learning Russian and I’d share the way I study it. Listen to music, print the lyrics (make sure is music you like so you’ll listen to it often) try to sing along you’ll see how your listening improve so quickly. I watch кухня it’s a really fun show. And it has subtitles in Russian and English. I watch an episode and select couple words (select words or phrases that you consider useful) do not try to memorize everything.
Get a book. I have two Russian books , both of them are for beginners (even though they have a lot of words) it will help you to practice and the most important thing, the more mistakes I’ve made while reading the easier it’s been for me to remember/ memorize words. Find someone who’s native speaker. I share a picture of a paragraph from the books with them , have them read them for me so I know the entonation and then after one day of practicing I read it to them, they give me feed back and help me understand the context of the paragraph if I need to. I watch many TH-cam videos In Russian even if I don’t understand anything. You need to emerge yourself in the language. After all the practice you will start understanding some words, then phrases little by little. :)

Hey! I'm always super excited to see new Chinese learners so motivated, because a lot of times people are so put off by the perceived difficulty that they don't ever want to learn it. I started learning four years ago (it was my major in college), and after two exchange programs I can say I'm pretty close to fluent in everyday conversations, however I still have a lot to learn in terms of formal language and specialized vocabulary in certain situations. Anyways, with that aside, I think the two things that helped me the most when I first started learning was familiarizing myself with the sounds of the language through listening to podcasts, watching TV shows, and listening to music (though be careful with this one, because they don't use tones in music- I was actually not really able to understand songs for the most part without looking them up until the last year or so). It's impossible to imitate and make sounds in a language if you don't know what it sounds like, so try to add as much language input as you can. I find reality shows like idol producer or street dance of China to be good, because they're reality shows and showcase people speaking casually and naturally. The second tip I can give you is that with tones, for the first year or so I was learning I would move my chin as I was saying the words so I would not forget the tone (I know it sounds like it would look extremely stupid, which it probably did, but looking stupid is better than sounding stupid when no one can understand you without the right tone). I would also practice the movement of the tones in my throat when I was just chilling in class or something, so not vocalizing it but familiarizing myself with the movement. I would STRONGLY advise against ignoring tones when you first start learning and thinking that you will pick them up later, because it will not happen, you will just be learning wrong and have to relearn with the right tone. Eventually, talking to yourself in Chinese once you get to that level is also super helpful, and I do it all the time hahaha. As for characters- I've heard some people say they're going to learn how to speak Chinese but not learn how to read or write because the writing system is too hard... um. Let me just say. It will not work. The characters give you so much context, and since Chinese does not have very many sounds in the first place (which is the reason tones are used), words and their meanings are differentiated by their characters. If you don't have any context and are just reading the pinyin, you LITERALLY WILL NOT KNOW THE MEANING. I can't stress this enough. Characters are SO IMPORTANT. I know it can be daunting, but having learned this long, I can say that there are so many logical patterns to Chinese characters, and the vast majority of more complex characters are made up of simpler characters together or parts of them, along with radicals (the part of the character at the front), which helps to denote the meaning or category of the word (ie. there's a speaking radical, a question radical, a hand radical, etc. Characters with these radicals will almost always have an association with them). I read somewhere that you only need to know around 100 of the most commonly used characters in Chinese in order to be able to understand somewhere around 80% of characters, because as I said, most are made up of simpler, root or base characters that derived from classical Chinese. I know it's daunting but it's possible! Baby steps are important, so even learning five new characters each week is a super good place to start! Downloading Chinese social media like Weibo and bilibili videos helped me a lot with reading, since I was following celebrities I like anyways and would check it a couple of times a week and see if I could figure out anything that was said. There are also a lot of good, free resources online that help a lot in the beginning stages of language learning. I think having friends and peers who were learning along with me helped keep my motivation up, as we could hold each other accountable and also bond over our shared experience. Making Chinese friends was definitely when I saw one of the biggest improvements in my language skills, aside from when I went abroad to Taipei and Xi'an for language programs during the summer. Having friends who are learning Chinese but are at a higher level than you is also super helpful to both parties, and I improved a lot conversing with my friends in Chinese class who had more experience than I did. I know i wrote A LOT, but I'm just super passionate about learning Chinese and I think more people should learn it because it really is such a beautiful language and I'm completely in love with it. My friend Telix also has a youtube channel where she posts videos about Chinese language learning, so definitely check her out! Here is a video she made about self studying: th-cam.com/video/T2GWIrfkuT0/w-d-xo.html
All in all, if you made it this far then I commend you because wow my 话 (hua2, words) really is 很多 (hen3 duo1, a lot), and tbh I have so much more to say and could go on about this forever, but yeah! That's my feature length novel with my advice for Chinese beginners! Definitely feel free to ask any questions or reply to this comment if you're interested in more resources, I can dig around in my brain archives for what I used when I was first starting out. I'm excited for you and for everyone who is starting their Chinese language journey, and I hope that y'all can enjoy it just as much as I do :D

I am from Argentina and I am learning English. I never took it seriously until a few days ago, when I realized that I really knew a lot about the language. I remember when I was 10 years old, we had an English assessment at school, and I put it off for several days because I was frustrated not knowing what to answer. I asked my cousin for help, who knew more about the subject than I did, she helped me with the evaluation and was the first person who explained it in such a beautiful and easy way for me, that it really made me interested in language. From there I learned it unconsciously, watching only movies in English with subtitles, listening to music in English, watching videos on TH-cam, etc. Now, I'm happy to say, that at 18, my youtube feed is full of English videos, and I can watch them without subtitles. Or listen to a song and enjoy it without having to search for the lyrics. A few days ago I started to take it seriously and I am learning grammar, since I can speak quite fluently, but only by imitating others. I really don't know how it works. But if you are just starting out, I really recommend surrounding yourself with the language, even if you don't understand it yet.

This is soo encouraging to be honest!!
I know many languages for my age.. These are the languages I know very nicely and speak almost everyday-
    1. Hindi
    2. Urdu (it is similar to Hindi but different in writing)
    3. English (I have a mixed accent to be honest..lol)
    4. Kashmiri (I may not be very fluent but I can understand, like EVERY word!! lol)
Some that I am still learning or am almost there lol-
    1. German (I have been learning this from school and I know how to do the basics and everything but I still have lots to learn!!)
    2. Arabic (I use it during prayers so I know a lot of words in it.. I am also learning how to write in it..Urdu and Arabic have a kind of a same writing so its easy for me, but the alphabets are a bit confusing swell..so..ye)
    3. Punjabi (I know about it from songs..lol..but I can't read what it says, so I am still trying a little..)
    4. Russian (I am able to understand it properly, but it is difficult for me to capture the word, lol..and it is NOT difficult at all..lol..)
    5. Ukrainian (I was born there so I know a little about it and Russian is a little similar to Ukrainian as well!!)
Also just cause I am from Ukraine doesn't mean that I would e very good at it because, um, there are reasons sometimes..lol
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And thanks for saying that Duolingo is where we can learn because I am learning Arabic, German and Russian from Duolingo as well! And it is really helpful!!
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I watch movies in German sometimes to help me understand as well! Some people who like animes know Japanese so nicely! And that is because they use subtitles and they listen to it as well!! That is also very helpful!!
    Thank u for reading!

So my accent is also very unusual😂 some words I pronounce in American accent, some words in British

I’m learning French, German and Swedish the difficulty is that French is really different from the other two and German and Swedish are very similar I sometimes mix both languages. I’m Mexican so I already speak Spanish and English which really helped me, people say that when you speak 3 languages the fourth one is really simple but I’m still fighting with learning three new languages.

Hello! Your video was really fun to watch! It's inspiring to see someone learning so many languages at once. I've been learning Chinese for a bit and I would recommend like others have already to use "Pleco" if you get the chance. It's sooo helpful to understand the usage of words and provides resources for learning similar words and sentences too! Finally, Yoyo Chinese has some pinyin pronunciation videos on TH-cam that are useful. A lot of people I studied Chinese with have tried to say tones/pronunciation don't matter that much, but I would strongly disagree. Starting with mastering tones and pronunciation using pinyin will go a long way to learning Chinese. If you decide to go further later "A Course in Contemporary Chinese" textbook and workbook with the audio files for practice has been a godsend of a textbook for learning conversational vocab and grammar quickly. Goodluck!
