Grant Morrison x-men run was such a crazy story and very interesting especially with Cassandra nova being a very scary horror villain for the x-men in my opinion.
Spoilers for that run: Cassandra Nova Xavier was intended to have a redemption arc. Emma Frost and the Stepford Cuckoos trap her in the Shi'ar Super guardian: Stuff. Inside Stuff, Cassandra Nova is reborn as Ernst, the little girl who looks like she has progeria syndrome. This allows the X-Men to rehabilitate her. By the truncated last arc, she would be set up as a potential replacement for Xavier and cemented as a future X-Man.
Morrison was fired for Planet X, then Chuck Austen tossed in some box prison for Cassandra, which Joss Whedon used for his Torn arc in Astonishing X-Men.

Funny enough when i first read new xmen in highschool, i often gave voices to the characters i my head. And Cassandra sounds exactly what i thought she would sound like , which was Friza
I think over the past months I've heard people talking a lot about Cassandra Nova and it really gets me pumped up to see how they adapt her in Deadpool vs Wolverine, also looking forward the new Squadron Supreme video!
As for recommendation I recommend ultimates by Jonathan Hickman and maybe ultimate doomsday.

Cassandra Nova is one of my all-time favorite villains. Whip-smart, powerful, and utterly with mercy or compassion.
The perfect antagonist.
I wish she'd been more featured during the Krakoa era. I'd have loved Hickman's interpretation of her.
Imagine that. Already terrifying via Morrison, Hickman, i think, would've made her even more so.
New X-Men will foremore be THE SHIT.
