@@NiceTravel337 I actually don't think it will flop. Does that mean it'll be good? 🤷♀ Maybe. Maybe not. We'll have to wait and see the movie to know one way or the other. Anything else is just speculation.
James Gunn focus to do a Superman that love people and do a great thing serving his people and country. Saving and bringing hope over great menaces and villains. I’m hype for this
How does anyone make a claim like that off a 30sec teaser 😂 there was nothing amazing in the video that we haven’t seen before except for more vibrant colors lol
I love that you asked this question! It's totally a fair question, too. I actually liked this trailer and I mean from the way it was constructed, the parts of the story it told, and how it didn't just give away the entire film in the clips that they chose. Trailers recently have been some of the worst and most poorly constructed pieces of marketing for films that I have seen in ages. No matter how the movie turns out (and I a not holding my breathe in the hopes that it will solve all of our Superman ills), this trailer was a success because it did its job.... which is something that trailers have not been doing lately. Just look at the train crash of a trailer that they released for Snow White. There are so many others that are equally bad. Like I said in the video... I liked what I saw in the trailer. We'll have to see what the actual film delivers. Thanks for an awesome question!
I really got tired of Zack Snyder's directing and storytelling. I also got tired of so many larger then life insanely complex world-galaxy-universe-reality destroying villains. I really missed the real "feeling" villains that were smart and savvy and not just packed with godlike powers. I am also really glad that James Gunn is clearly turning back to the originality and sincerity of Superman. I don't really care what early reports about the film say from this point forward. The only thing I care about will be the actual film. From this point forward, it'll be a social media click campaign for companies/people trying to make money off of Superman because with over 2.6 million views of the trailer in just 6 days, it's the hottest ticket in town. Everyone is going to be jumping on this film for clicks/views, and algorithms boost negativity because everyone always wants to know "what's wrong!" So, I'm with you on this. I am really excited for this movie.
Originality? LOL, dude Christopher Reeve Superman was just Superman from the comic books. And James Gunn is just going to do that again. Snyder was trying to do something new, that's why people didn't like it.
@TheLittleMJPuppet Who said that Games Gunn is making the same superman... He is making a superman which is not unrealistic, monstrous and dark while keeping it closer to the comics unlike Zack Snyder. Just Grow up kid... You can't judge any movie before watching it...
The most notable detail about the trailer is most definitely the inclusion of Krypto. To the best of my knowledge, that has never been done in a Superhero film. And I believe many miss that point. So I believe July 11, 2025 will be a very different and I hope a very positive cinematic experience.
I agree completely. Adding Krypto changes Superman just a degree or two, making him more relatable today. I love that they are including him because, like you said, he's never been included before. However, I really need Krypto to live... if that super dog get's hurt... I will be very unhappy! Thanks for the comment and stopping by! I could talk about Krypto all day long! :-)
Same! I ended up watching it a few times. I knew there was something that was tugging at me in this trailer and it took me a little while to really figure out what I wanted to say about it... because it caught me off guard as well. I thought it was just going to be yet another bubble gum version of Superman...and then it wasn't! I can't wait for this movie! I have really high hopes for it, too! 🙂 🦸♂
Zack Snyder didn’t make Superman he made Batman in a Superman suit. Always questioning humanity whether or not he himself can stay good or not. He even said in BvS “ no one stays good in this world” And then they shoe horn a message of “hope” that comes off as if he’s some god to be worshipped and all the self important blah blah always serious mundane tone…… That’s NOT Superman Superman believes in humanity. Its unwavering. It’s part of his uplifting natural charismatic personality. It’s who he is through and through Then the 2 versions of Clark Smallvile family Clark Then there is Metropolis daily planet clumsy kinda dopey Clark completely different from Superman. That is the dynamic Snyder absolutely did not understand. The character of Superman is far more complex than the monotone mundane 1 note supe/clark the acts the exact same all the time. Henry looked great as Superman But he wasn’t Superman He was Batman in a Superman suit
Yes. Exactly. This was what bothered me about BvS. I get that it's hard to stay good in this world, but that's kind of the whole point of having a fictional superhero who can give us hope that it's at least something to strive for... I was so depressed after that film.
I wonder what’d it be like if any of the Smallville cast were in the new Superman movie 🎥 and/or what’d it be like for if Nicolas Cage played Superman in the new movie! ☯️
Oh, I loved the Smallville cast! That's a really interesting idea. I have a feeling that they would never go for it because it would create an implicit connection between that series and an actual Superman film... but it would be fun. I actually think Nick Cage would make a fantastic Lex Luthor. Villains always need the BEST actors they can find to bring out the depth of character inside of them... and Cage would be amazing! Thanks for stopping by. I really loved thinking about this comment!
OMG. John Williams is such a talented man... he has literally scored our lives with music! One of the reasons that I feel like the new Superman film nods to the Christopher Reeve version is the modernized version of John Williams' theme with the grinding guitar and horns that make it feel like a call back to getter times from our current, grittier existence. Great comment!
Yes! The accuracy to the comic book is a VERY good sign!! I am also so happy to see Nathan Fillion in the role. I have high hopes for him, his character, and the film.
Yes. That is a dramatic moment and a a pretty dramatic way to open the trailer. We know that there are very few things that can hurt Superman to that degree, other people from his home world are one, the Kaiju is probably another, and Kryptonite is another... there may be other things as well. However, I think it's a really interesting way to open the trailer because it shows us the lowest point and implies the kind of villain and forces that he will be battling and what he will need to overcome to succeed. That's the epitome of a heroic story.... but we'll have to see how well (and if) they can pull it off.
Well after so many flops i am setting my expectations low for this .I don't think it will be successful like Deadpool 3 or avatar 2 but i am pretty sure it will give a successful start to the dcu .And i don't hate Zack his Mos and Zsjl was good. Happy new year 🎊
True about the tone. They can be very funny, but we'll see how he does with Superman. This isn't really the type of film that humor like that will work in very well. I've actually read a few reports from that prescreening, and it's only been one, so far. The executives are terrified, but they should be terrified. They often do not understand story and they force screenwriters and directors into corners that just don't work cinematically because they are making their decisions based upon data and projections, but these kinds of stories are supposed to be reflections of the times that society is living in at the time they are published/released. Studio executives live in the past, while storytellers live in the future. When you're looking at a 2-4 year production cycle the executives have to learn to trust the gut instincts of the storytellers more because their bean counters aren't taking in a lot of the human factors needed to predict the future and how we will all be feeling as a society. Also, there are reports that the "regular people" who were in that screening actually enjoyed the film. So, as you can tell, I don't really trust studio executives much at this point. So, I am hoping that the reports from "regular people" whoever those people are is how most people are going to react to the film . Great comment by the way. We haven't really had that many opportunities to talk about that screening since not much has come out about it.
Nah, if you love nostalgia and living in the past then yeah this Superman trailer is great. But, Snyder definitely made Superman more sophisticated while still keeping hope and heart at the core.
He definitely deep deepen Superman's character, especially in MOS. And, I do miss Henry Cavill. I loved him in the role. However, I do think there is a way to make a more sophisticated Superman that also holds onto some of those idealistic traits from Reeves' Superman. I'm willing to give it a try to see how it goes. Thanks for the comment!
Hi there, it's good to see your enthusiasm concerning the new upcoming Superman movie Erin. But personally I wouldn't hold my breath. Big budgets are being allocated to superhero movies and most of them are tanking at the box office nowadays. I heard James Gunn organized a special test screening and things were looking very bleak. The only humor I can derive from the trailer is that super'cock'.... ahem... I mean Superman falling from the sky and lying helplessly on the ice if not for Krypto would very likely suffer from a bad case of blue balls.
You are so right about that! I'll admit I am cautiously enthusiastic, given what I've seen with The Penguin, The Batman, and the Christopher Reeve: Super/Man biopic. So, even though I am literally on the edge of viewer fatigue with superhero films, I am willing to give this film a try and will wait for the film rather than rumors from early screenings. I've heard that its the executives that are nervous (as they should be!!!) and the general audience members who were more positively received the film. Still, whatever version they saw, was still a rough unfinished version... so it will likely change quite a lot. I still can't figure out how or where a kaiju that breathes fire fits into this film. Sigh.... but I guess that will get explained. My greatest hope is that they just get back to basics with good storytelling. Great effects mean nothing if the story won't hold. Thanks for your comment. it is wise advice for us not to hold our breathes on this film... we might all die if we do! ;-) I'm actually much more excited about all of the independent and mid-budget films that have been coming out. Because they don't have the money to put special effects bandaids all over their films they are having to write smart, tight, and meaningful stories ... so, I think that's likely where I will be putting more of my energy in 2025. happy new year!
