I hadn’t considered the monster being Jimmy but I love that idea so much. I hope the main villain will be Bizarro, I think it would work perfectly with what this movie seems to be trying to do
That the various trailers alone have six villains/monsters and five other superheroes/ancillary characters isn’t really putting my concerns to rest that Gunn can’t write a story about a single, central protagonist and their journey. I love the look and vibe, but this needs to be Iron Man in terms of scope and reach, not DCEU 2.0.
I think it was really smart to show him having lost a fight in the trailer. IMO, the worst thing that ever happened to Superman was the TH-cam death battle that dredged up every ridiculous thing he’s ever done over the decades and put it in a neat little package to make it seem like nothing should ever pose a threat to him. But the thing is, if you’re making a new continuity, you can still tone him down a little if you want. The 90’s Cartoon and Justice League version is still one of my favorites (and the first one I ever saw), and they did a good job of making him seem powerful but not totally out of reach of his villains. And even in the comics, he’s been shown to be able to be hurt by other beings around his level. But I feel like the Snyderverse was acting like anything breaking his skin besides the Kryptonite spear was bad writing. Even though my favorite part of the Snyder Cut was when Superman beats them all up, I still feel like they way they portrayed him further cemented the notion that he’s overpowered, which people don’t like about him.
I am really excited for this film and I don’t really know why. Because I certainly have not been for any of them since Superman 78. It’s the same feelings i had when I was a little 6 year old kid back then. It’s a nice feeling. Especially since I’ve been so jaded for so long with these kinds of projects.
Kaiju was either a in a miniature cell and suddenly dropped in middle of city or someone eats something. Because the girl superman saves has no idea there's a big monster in city
1. People kept saying the man in black could also be Ulysses but that doesn't make sense. If that was the case, why the mask? The mask in cases like these is mainly used for shock effect due to someone we recognize. Ulysses is someone not many recognize and the face reveal would be underwhelming. Even if it was Ulysses, the mask would be unnecessary. Just show the face in that case. He isn't a character that wears a mask anyways. 2. i think the final 2 shots of "superman" and Lois in that apartment is actually Ultraman (including the shot of "superman" walking into Stagg Industries with his burnt suit which, the burnt suit, is possibly James Gunns way of establishing Bizarro's suit when Ultraman has possibly deteriorated. Similiar to how in the movie "Flash", the antagonist dark Flash got his appearance established from damage). The moment with Lois, the face he has conveys a different message. It''s not as expressive. Even looking with possible intrigue. Not to mention, Lois and "superman" are not as intimate as other scenes. Especially when Lois holds "supermans" wrist instead of his hand conveying possible compassion for the "enemy" causing him to have a change of heart in that moment with her. 3. Martha is alive. In the scene of the daily planet when Clark walks to his desk, there is a sticky note saying "Call Ma".
I would be extremely disappointed if Lois already knows Clark’s secret at the start of the movie. Ideally, she doesn’t know until at least the sequel. But at the minimum, she finds out during the first movie not before. There’s so much story to be explored if Lois doesn’t know.
If the movie opens with a status quo that Superman has been around for a bit and no one knows who he is, then making it the story of how Lois figures it out would be a nice, meaty plotline. Especially if the character is built on all her presumptions of both Superman and Clark. Then, discovering that they're one and the same would completely wreck her whole worldview. I think it's all too common for films to waste pivotal plot turns like that in their hurry to get somewhere else. But that doesn't mean these movies shouldn't have those pivotal plotlines. The only thing that matters is for the story to make them count.
I've thought long and hard bout this, I reckon the guy in the Ultraman suit is a clone of Lex with Kryptonian DNA! Lex gave himself Kryptonian DNA in All-Star, it would be Lex's dream to be that, it would be a fun reveal in the movie. Also it would sorta fulfill Nic Hoult's audition - he went for Superman and in a sense did become A superman I reckon that'd be sick
The Giant Kaiju should have been either Titano or a Giant Red Beetle to make it look more comic-booky instead of another grounded/realistic that nobody wants.
With Nathan Fillion’s look, what’s throwing me off isn’t the hair but the prosthetics. I mean yeah it does give that grimace and square jaw from the comic design, I guess… but I think they could have pulled it off with more of his natural face showing through. It just feels unnatural and off putting, but maybe that’s because I’ve been binging Castle and he’s like 10-15 years younger than he is now for most of that show I’ve got no doubt he will kill it though, as I didn’t realize he was the animated voice of Hal Jordan for a few projects or had such a connect to this character
I feel like it's a natural progression of the way to depict the character. Back in 2013, when Man of Steel was released, it was no time for the hopeful all-good hero. People and the world was craving for something more nuanced. Now, however, the tide has changed, and it is the perfect time to have a character, which is just pure good, who just wants to do good things, despite everything. Most of all, however, inspire the others to do so. I am all for dark and gritty, but today's world is so morbid, that movie espapism has the great opportunity to provide a safe spot And who's better than Superman to give that feeling of safety and hopefulness. I trust James Gunn and I hope he doesn't miss with this one. If anything, all his movies have heart. Even the raunchy, bloody ones like Suicide Squad. There's always an emotional bit in them, which elevates them one level above just some cashgrab superhero blockbuster
If the shield made by the Terrific Balls are above said shield, that leaves the very thing making the shield very susceptible to attack. Maybe they're No-So-Terrific Balls.
Everything is new and different and has never been done before this way of doing it that it is a big surprise from what you are seeing that it is not your every day superman movie
Does no one know what frozen orange juice looks like anymore? That guy hit Superman in the back of the head with a can of frozen orange juice, and that would hurt a lot if you weren't Superman.
That was genuinely one of my favorite little bits in the trailer, the guy throwing he looks like he's throwing a full can, but when it hits Davids head, it just bounces off like it weighed nothing.
I like how colorful this movie is, it seems like Superman's powers are on pare with the animated series superman because didn't they make him weaker in that series as well?
I'd rather see a movie about what Superman does when he is not having to face a threat from powerful groups and organisations because I know what he does when he IS having to face a threat from powerful groups and organisations.
I don't get the hype. Yea Superman looks good, and Guy Gardner is a spot on recreation of the comicbook, but Krypto? Krypto is when I tuned out for a bit. Combined with the fact that the last 3 thing I've seen of Gunn was mid meh at best (fell asleep to GotG3, couldn't watch all of suicide squad, and Peacmaker was uneven) I don't see this as a slam dunk for being good, but I will hope.
I think ultraman is wraith from the new 52 superman unchained comic book but will be called ultraman in the movie if you read the comic book you will understand why its not called wraith in the movie
There's been some leaked set photos of the guy playing Superman with bleached eyebrows. I bet the guy in the black suit is the same actor and it's an evil clone situation. Either Ultraman or Bizarro.

My worry is that the movie is overcrowded. It’s the first Gunn movie and it has this many characters, heroes, and villains? So much of it is going to be under utilized or just be there for the sake of it
Doesn't mean he doesn't see it. He's a good storyteller. And truly good stories aren't propaganda for any one point. They always contain two contradictory views opposing one another. The big problem I had with Man of Steel wasn't the Libertarian philosophies, though I personally don't agree with libertarianism. But the real problem was it didn't really explore any particular meaning, or at least, not to a meaningful degree. I don't even see a problem with a story that forces Superman to choose between not saving someone and not killing someone. I think that could have been an amazing, complex, challenging story about the nature of good. The problem was, they didn't actually explore this dilemma, not in the way a story needs to. If it had, then I think it would have been the movie it was trying to be. And in the end, that's all we should want from a movie, to do what it means to do well. I think Gunn understands this stuff. Whatever his personal philosophies, he understands that the first rule of a movie is to explore its themes from multiple angles. So his movies always end up being thematically complex, not just surface-level mouth-pieces for his political beliefs.
I’m cautiously optimistic. Superman a should be the perfect superhero, not a conflicted MARVEL hero. Superman should be LOVED by everybody, not hated. He should NOT be bloodied unless he’s fighting a Kryptonian OR magic-being OR doomsday (kryptonian etc).
Superman has never been a “perfect” hero, he has constantly struggles with how much he should interfere with mankind and whether or not he’s doing to right thing. And he’s always had his detractors and has run into issues with his public image from time to time. And there are plenty of beings in the DC universe that can challenge him physically, outside of magic or other kryptonians.

It won't be a flop. It looks good. James Gunn made this.
Gunn hasn't made anything good since GotG2...that's 7 years ago.
@@cteal2018 3 was good
The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker and Creature Commendos. Next.
@@Eric_1991 Don't you get it? If cteal2018 didn't like it, it was a flop. These movies really only have one job, and that's to please cteal.
I ain't gonna lie, the trailer brought a tear to my eye, and the music helps of course. But just loved it
"what if he was fake and nice and showed up when you needed" is exactly what I wanted
I am really excited for this film and I don’t really know why. Because I certainly have not been for any of them since Superman 78. It’s the same feelings i had when I was a little 6 year old kid back then. It’s a nice feeling. Especially since I’ve been so jaded for so long with these kinds of projects.
Moson does love the rookie. I can see how he'd get the rookie and guy gardner from superman confused
The guy in the black suit at 6:15 is Ultraman. 😉
No its Edi Gathegis character… the one with the shields… Mr. Terrific
@@alexmartin3143so reading isn’t your strong suit is it?
I think the "U"-branded villain is (a version of) Uranium, the original Metal Man created by Dr. Will Magnus.
I've thought long and hard bout this, I reckon the guy in the Ultraman suit is a clone of Lex with Kryptonian DNA!
Lex gave himself Kryptonian DNA in All-Star, it would be Lex's dream to be that, it would be a fun reveal in the movie. Also it would sorta fulfill Nic Hoult's audition - he went for Superman and in a sense did become A superman
I reckon that'd be sick
The Giant Kaiju should have been either Titano or a Giant Red Beetle to make it look more comic-booky instead of another grounded/realistic that nobody wants.
Henry cavil could be thr ultra man big reveal
With Nathan Fillion’s look, what’s throwing me off isn’t the hair but the prosthetics. I mean yeah it does give that grimace and square jaw from the comic design, I guess… but I think they could have pulled it off with more of his natural face showing through. It just feels unnatural and off putting, but maybe that’s because I’ve been binging Castle and he’s like 10-15 years younger than he is now for most of that show
I’ve got no doubt he will kill it though, as I didn’t realize he was the animated voice of Hal Jordan for a few projects or had such a connect to this character
A hurricane? In Kansas? Do you know how far Kansas is from the ocean? Have you heard of a tornado?
I feel like it's a natural progression of the way to depict the character. Back in 2013, when Man of Steel was released, it was no time for the hopeful all-good hero. People and the world was craving for something more nuanced. Now, however, the tide has changed, and it is the perfect time to have a character, which is just pure good, who just wants to do good things, despite everything. Most of all, however, inspire the others to do so. I am all for dark and gritty, but today's world is so morbid, that movie espapism has the great opportunity to provide a safe spot
And who's better than Superman to give that feeling of safety and hopefulness.
It still hurts Superman
He isnt unfeeling.
I feel like Krypto will end up taking him home to Kansas instead of the Fortress of Solitude.
Can anyone tell me the name of the show @ 2:02 please?
I believe that is Supersons
Superman and Fantastic 4 are 100% going to be billion dollar movies.
This video was an amazing supplement to the segment in the podcast, highlighting the stuff in the trailer the boys talk about. More of this!!
I like how colorful this movie is, it seems like Superman's powers are on pare with the animated series superman because didn't they make him weaker in that series as well?
Is the Blue tint a reference to Blue Harvest?
If someone wrote a book about Abraham Lincolns doctors dog. It would be a best seller. Forgot where I heard that
I love how people have already created the plot and story for the entire movie from a teaser for a teaser and a teaser for a trailer😂😂😂😂
Why do they have 2 channels? What if we missed this?
I'd rather see a movie about what Superman does when he is not having to face a threat from powerful groups and organisations because I know what he does when he IS having to face a threat from powerful groups and organisations.
Man in black suit could be ultraman or metallo maybe? Also I like Superman Returns 😅
16:20 a lot of us Marvel fans just waited for Antman 3 and The Marvels to come to Disney +.
There's been some leaked set photos of the guy playing Superman with bleached eyebrows. I bet the guy in the black suit is the same actor and it's an evil clone situation. Either Ultraman or Bizarro.
James is definitely the #1 Anime fan 13:07
Why isn't this uploaded on the main channel?
It is a portion from the most recent episode this is a clips channel with just segments from the show.
It's a segment from the full podcast that was uploaded to their main channel yesterday.
"Superman is Finally GOOD Again?"
PLEASE! Guys! This is a trailer!
Let's not blow things out of proportion until it's out! I don't need to be broken...AGAIN!
6:13 Black Noir. Next question?
Remember, Black Noir and that whole gang were all deliberate parodies of DC superheroes. That was the whole point of The Boys.
@ I don’t know what you mean by DC, but they must be knocking-off Vought franchises.
@@MWDFrancis No no no! Vought was built on the back of knock-off products originally developed by DC. They cut corners, sold lower quality product for cheap, and drove DC out of business.
Gorilla Grodd baby🤘Let’s go!!!
Is it me or luthorcorp used to be called lex corp...am i crazy?
my prediction, the movie will be just fine, but toxic fans and the little army of snyderbots will review bomb it into the ground and attempt to ruin it for everyone else.
I get that green lantern is comic accurate, but wtf why doesn’t green lantern have skibidi broccoli rizz hair
wait is krypto a space dog or like a lab experiment ? I haven't thought about it before haha
My worry is that the movie is overcrowded. It’s the first Gunn movie and it has this many characters, heroes, and villains? So much of it is going to be under utilized or just be there for the sake of it
This movie looks so fun . I love ❤️ how douchey Guy Gardner looks
Indeed. That is the haircut of a man who doesn't listen to anyone.
This trailer looks like there's way too much going on.. It really messes with my ADHD... 😅😂
2:17 James: "I see both sides"
Coming from the Home Alone 2 commentary, I know James is a massive libertarian hater 😂😂
I get that they're ineffectual idealists... but HATE libertarians? Its like hating quakers... why woyld anyone HATE them? 🤔
Ultraman's physique kinda resembles Cavill
It looks like a CW show, but hopefully the writing is better.
@ just remember, Superman is NOT a MARVEL character.
@ never said he was
@@Andrew-Bastin you Gunn-cultists are all the same. Always trying to destroy the Superman mythos. You guys will FAIL and we will WIN!!!! We WILL WIN!!!! #RestoreTheFlopVerse #RestoreTheDookieVerse
lol that was supposed to be a joke. Sir, Superman is supposed to be perfect. If they mess with that, it will turn him into a MARVEL hero: dark and edgy 😀
Dude, we live in a world where loads of people don't even like JESUS.
There's always been people who don't like Superman, both IRL and in the DC universe.
Idc Superman and Lois shouldn’t have had to be cancelled!
It wasn’t even cancelled though, it ended well
Routh was earnest enough to be Superman in SR, but Spacey wasn't as good as Hackman, frankly its an impossible bar,
It felt like a trailer for 3 movies.. way too much going on. How will they balance this many characters this early on?
I like James Gunn & his work, but this really doesn't seem like a Superman story... let alone the first Superman story you'd tell after a reboot. Take Krypto; how special is Superman if this dog just has super powers? STAS made it so Kal & Brainiac were dual survivors of Krypton, but Gunn's like "Kal gets a puppy" because someone's more interested in picking something obscure (well... he literally has an animated movie, so not that obscure...) rather than keeping the symbolism on point.
Isn't Supergirl literally in STAS?
need more smiling in this trailer.
