    1. I don't like the first minute or so but I like it after that.
    2. The accompaniment changes a lot and that changes the style of the song greatly in my opinion.
    3. I like Dionne Warwick's ton and personality in her singing. The lyrics also add to it greatly as well.
    Walk On By
    Dionne Warwick
If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
Walk on by, walk on by
    Make believe
That you don't see the tears
    Just let me grieve
In private 'cause each time I see you
    I break down and cry
And walk on by (don't stop)
And walk on by (don't stop)
    And walk on by
I just can't get over losing you
And so if I seem broken and blue
Walk on by, walk on by
    Foolish pride
Is all that I have left
    So let me hide
The tears and the sadness you gave me
    When you said goodbye
    Walk on by (don't stop)
    Walk on by (don't stop)
    Walk on by (don't stop)
    Walk on
    Walk on by
    Walk on by
    Foolish pride
Is all that I have left
    So let me hide
The tears and the sadness you gave me
    When you said goodbye
    Walk on by (don't stop)
And walk on by (don't stop)
Now you really gotta go so walk on by (don't stop)
If you leave you'll never see the tears I cry
Now you really gotta go so walk on by (don't stop

You should listen to "In between the heartache" "Promise, promise" or theme from Valley of the Dolls, try Dionne during "Yours" from the Bee Gees produced album. Heartbreaker.

Hey Jay since your doing Dionne Warwick you should definitely do What the World Needs Now.... not one of her biggest hits but probably the most appropriate song for 2020! Here’s the link...th-cam.com/video/FfHAs9cdTqg/w-d-xo.html

The first minute of Walk On By is very much what makes it an iconic song of the 1960s. Listen carefully and you will hear the Brazilian influence that is in a few of Burt Bacharach songs . The combination of the intro bossa nova beat, the poignant Hal David lyrics, the silky Dionne Warwick voice over the perfect pop orchestration, and the soulful background singers (Warwick's family) all make this song a timeless classic

yeah the pop orchestration and her SEOUL food are great. I completely agree for this time period.

Burt Bacarach did really good songs for Dionne Warwick. The musical arrangements
    fit her so well.
    Her catalog is brilliant.

I think I’m a Burt Bacharach fan to be honest. My closet dream in college was to be a song writer. But meh, I just wasn’t made for it.

The more you listen to 'Walk On By' the more you'll like it. And I really liked it the first time I heard in in the early 60's. I'm now 69. (10/20) An amazing classic. Burt Bacharach (music) and Hal David (Lyrics) and Dione made some best quality amazing music! Search them out. You will NOT be disappointed.

It’s such a Dionne song. Just a nice beat and I like your word sassy- I feel like she is sassy but smooth too. Just low key.

Different sound back then. Even I wasn’t born then, but my dad played Dionne. More from her cousin Whitney! Live versions are the BEST!

The first part might seem boring but it's like a woman walking on the street meets someone she *really* doesn't want to talk to any more and the first reaction is to look away or stare or but a hand out. After that, if the guy is still trying to get her attention or speak to her, she reacts more openly or strongly and that's where the different accompaniment kicks in.

At the time, I was an early adopter of the new progressive music that was being created, mostly in Europe, but heard, and loved, some of the popular tunes that were short enough to play on radio...this being one of the best. Even without Bacharach's surgical musicality, one could isolate Dionne's wondrous voice, style, and melody...then compare it with so much music being extruded today, and you will hear a wide gulf indeed.

Here is another fun fact about walk on by. It was originally released as a B-side to the song any old time of the day. A famous disc jockey from New York had played both sides of the record so his audience could decide which tune they Preferred. And the rest as they say is musical history. This is her first bona fide hit single

Written by the great songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David

The backing vocalists part is cool. Not as dramatic as some of their songs, but they also did more mellow songs than this as well.

You can definitely tell a Burt Bacharach song especially in the 60's ... definitely a time machine back to a different era
Speaking of that era, you should check out Lulu singing "To Sir With Love" th-cam.com/video/yTapoA5RQyo/w-d-xo.html
It's a great song from a great movie of the same name. Sidney Poitier was amazing in it

So so song. Dionne has a lot better songs. Back up vocals were horrible.
