Nice video! I’m going to say that the cooling gallery and associated oil inlet and outlet are likely as-cast features and not friction welded, since this is an Aluminum piston.
Do we know how "new" the S650 Mustang's EcoBoost engine is? Ford lists it as being part of the "Modular Power Cylinder" family, but I can't find much information about this. The revised bore and stroke suggest this is an entirely different design than the outgoing 2.3, which, of course, has Mazda roots.
Thank you again for my BABUBU short block 11000 miles on the engine
running strong 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 you do amazing work
Id love to see more videos like this especially about the 2nd gen 2.3 . Very informative but to the point. I love watching content like this.
We plan to do a follow up of the entire engine being torn down!
Which models have gen 1 vs gen 2? Focus RS MK3? FOCUS STMK4? @@engineeredmotorsportsolutions
If I were limited to factory redline I would increase the stroke also. They also increased the stroke for detonation tolerance.

Yeah, after shooting this I realized it was likely a salt ring cast.
@@engineeredmotorsportsolutions You’re forgiven. You worked on steel pistons. :D
Awesome video Brother! 💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks fellers!
