I f I were an Airsteam customer and my inspector were treated like this I would walk regardless of the condition of the unit.I think that’s what it’ll take to get the dealers to respect the inspector.

What is so interesting is that so many of the inspections are finding things that would not let you leave the dealership on the day you "thought" you would go sign and drive away. So many things are wrong or broken before you as the new owner even set foot inside. Great video again.

While searching for an RV, we checked out a few Airstreams in the show room (both new and used) just of curiosity. Quite honestly I didn't see what the hype was all about. I anticipated being impressed by the quality of an Airstream but my take-away was far from that.
I know, I know...it's like different brands of cars...some are overrated for sure...

Another great, thorough video! It's unbelievable how things have changed in a short period of time: regardless of the industry the customer is treated terribly. I have only purchased 1 new car in 2017 and I will never do it again because I would probavly kill a salesman with their tactics these days and/or burn down the dealership. They treated me as if I knew nothing meanwhile I've been building custom cars for 30+ years. After going through all the paperwork I found those hidden "addons and fees" to the tune of $5.000+. The dealer said he'd discount me 3,000 so I walked. 3 days later they offered me the full 5,000 off and I said 6,000 off final offer. After a week they called back and accepted my offer. this was a 57,000 purchase (BMW). The RV industry has deteriorated even more so. What happened to customer service? -not!

The sink was a good find, Laurel. One day, the RV dealers will realize that consumer satisfaction increases when they work to assist the inspector rather than work against them. Thanks for identifying why some dealers don't like working with unqualified inspectors. Something I learned long ago is that there are always 2 sides to a story.

Like someone else stated earlier, I think a lot of businesses forget the fundamentals at one point, what brought them where they are, and think that only the name could carry them through. 🤔
Pierre, I think what the master disconnect switch is saying is when the switch says off that means you have power when it says it's on now you have no power in the rig because it's a master disconnect, not a master connect you get what I'm saying. 😉

You guys do a great job. I'm still waiting for the day people will realize that Airstreams have the same problems as the rest. Some think money buys no problems. I was an RV tech for roughly a year. Honestly I would still be doing it if it paided worth a shit. That is most of the problem with the techs.

I think they don’t like inspectors because you find things they have to fix before the sale. On that note, if they hate inspectors so much, you’d think they would have everything ready for you, so you can get done and get out of there ASAP.
How the heck are they going to fix the cabinet door hitting the monitor? It seems like they would have to move the monitor, but then there would be a hole in the wall.
I would hate to have to change out that water pump! Is there a way to access that from the outside?

I got a text from a Lazyday sales person on a unit they got. They had the nerve to tell me that “You’re gonna have to give a little to get one that checks all the boxes you guys want checked. We’ve been searching for a while unfortunately “. I responded that we are not going to settle. I’m not going to buy something that doesn’t meet my requirements or is over my budget. They have a response for everything. When I say I have a budget and rates are high. I get a response of “rates are high but you could always take advantage of the wholesale pricing now and then just pay the thing off come spring time.
That way you’re only paying a marginal amount in interest but still getting a smoking deal on the unit.” Come on man you think I am that crazy to believe you wholesale price.

Changing the sale rule, where the dealer picks up the cost AFTER the sale, and not charging the manufacturer making extra margin already on top of the sale, would have 'em picking up those pencils quicker than a 3 year old, who's mom had just ran out of patience.

You guys do awesome work and prove time and again why independent inspections are a must. That is so unacceptable for such an expensive rig to have so many fastener issues. I had an inspection on an $80k C class and had fewer issues. Sure stuff started loosening up later, but at least the initial build and assembly was good 😄

For 2024 you would be challenged to find an Airstream with an MSRP north of $150K. And yes they are expensive - but they hold a lot of their value for quite some time. You have fair credit to the quality of Airstream and I’m glad you did. As an inspector that works with many brands, you of course realize that the materials Airstream uses for much of their construction is high quality. We sure enjoy our 25 ft.

Definitely one of the few manufacturer one could consider calling it an investment ! With its build, materials and consistency of followers, it could probably be THE only brand out there being able to keep a value, you are right IMHO

I strongly believe that dealer is Blue Compass which is right there on I-4. We will be passing by them when we travel that way going to the Tampa RV show in January. There is another RV inspection channel (whose name escapes me) that did an inspection there and he ran into some of the similar dealer stalling that you experienced. I don't know if for legal reasons you don't want the name of the dealer mentioned and if so, please delete my comment (or I can edit it). Thanks for what you do!

Before you erase your liking of Airstream - walk in virtually any other travel trailer and feel the fit and finish. On your way out, look over the exterior windows, tires, etc. spend even just 5 minutes doing this and remember what you saw.
Then do the same with an Airstream. You’ll undoubtedly understand then why you still like the Airstream 😉🇺🇸
Compare to the other brands out there, they ARE one of the more consistent builds in terms of quality 👌
Yea I know, I just do mobile RV repair for a side gig and I see a lot. I also built my own out of a 7x16 interstate cargo trailer and I know how well mine is built for $16,000 compared to how others are built for $90,000

That is unacceptable even for a mid-level camper. Wow, even Airstream doesn't give a crap anymore, just take people's money and run.
Honestly, I ordered a '21 Flagstaff 5th wheel, built in 2020 ('Covid camper') and it has been FLAWLESS! That Airstream had more problems than a stick-and-tin Springdale.
Covid build or not, you are right! This industry has no consistency for quality!
Are there any decent RV dealers that are consumer focused so they will have a great purchase and ownership experience ? Does any Rv dealer do a complete PDI and correct every issue before delivery ? It seems that buyer beware applies to every RV new or used and every dealership or private seller . 😮
