Love this type of informative video. A person who paid YOU, talks about how what they paid, saved them heart ache, grief and money. I know there are many more customers of yours that would also be happy to make a vidoe like this. Great Job.
You guys make me so much more aware of what to look for Just got back from two dealers in mn with brother in law and wife I started looking for the things you guys point out Holy cow bad caulk miss alignment of slides loose trim ect I would never have looked at these things before What a benefit you guys offer Thank you so much Btw these were all new Bob
We didn’t have an inspection on our first Rv because we didn’t think about it. After we drove it away and doing some research somebody said that buying a house is the same as buying an Rv and that includes an inspection. That’s why we will get an inspection on our next rig.
Should have bought 2 yrs newer, the upgrades are worth the difference. Steerable tag, no carpet in slides , emergency door in bathroom to just name a few. Newmar makes one of the best motorhomes on the market if you know what your looking for. Good info and being in the aviation industry for over 40 yrs helps.
That is right from someone who deals with planes. Logs are everything, any AD's(closest thing would be a recall in the auto world but in a plane it can be a go/no go directive). Looks like he even used the serial number as a tail number. Really in depth, not for everyone, but you can only imagine the value when he trades or sells out. Really great info.
Great video, Pierre and Laurel! I strongly suggest to anyone considering the purchase of a motorhome, fifth wheel or trailer, before you pull the trigger on a unit, new or used, your first consideration should be to engage an RV inspector, it could save you from making one of the biggest mistakes of your life, but also give you confidence in the purchase! And the Blue Ox folks are among the best in the business!
Great video.....going from the airline industry to the RV industry must have been a "rude awakening". 😆 Interesting he went with a Newmar. The type of RV inspection by Blue Ox is absolutely priceless .....what we don't know ...we don't know.....regardless how smart you think you are.
@@blueoxontherun9188 absolutely.....and the fact that you two look at so many RVs you can spot common problems by brand... That type of knowledge is priceless
One source, to learn basics and software, the NRVTA/NRVIA school, out of Athens TX is a good base. Experience will be your next schooling 😉. Make sure to reach out through our website if you wanted to know more
I would love to get to the point where an inspection is needed. Problem is, I cannot accept the poor quality builds and materials used. If I am told some defects are normal and acceptable I lose interest.
Great video and very informative. You mentioned removing your emotions and the good points from negotiations which is hard to do but excellent advise. The one thing that comes to mind is that when "we" try to do our own inspections, we don't know what we don't know to look at and for with potential problems. The other thing is to remind people that when we "try" to do our own inspection, we are looking thru "rose colored glasses" if we like the features on the unit and may consider some things to be insignificant or not as costly as it really turns out to be. Been there , done that and have the receipts to validate. Jeff's unit also increased in value due to the inspection and proof of repairs kept in his extensive logbook. Kudos to Jeff. Probably carried over from his previous line of work.
Great video. Jeff is right on, I keep EVERY receipt for all my vehicles. While they might not help to get top dollar - it sure helps to sell it faster for a fair price. I did have books for my boats like Jeff has for the RV. Sure gave the buyer of my 1961 Chris Craft Connie piece of mind to buy it. I feel that without the receipts for equipment AND maintenance you have a harder time selling something. I also keep a schedule of replacement and maintenance for the RV so I don't forget to do something - and - also set aside money for it.
I agree with all of your thoughts. I would add that even if the buyer is knowledgeable but not credentialed, any seller will dismiss a buyer if they raise these issues. Having an independent report prepared by a qualified inspector makes it much more difficult for the seller to be dismissive. Now for the part that excites me: the books! I, too, have books, but to facilitate analysis, I built an application that records each invoice at the line item and rolls up to broad categories such as brakes. In my brakes example, I had brakes done; fast forward a couple of years, and it was time for brakes again. When I received the new quote, I could compare by part what changed. In this example, I saw that OEM front rotors were less expensive than aftermarket, but the rear OEM rotors were more expensive. My application also allows me to track my financial responsibilities. This way, of the $100k spent, I know how much maintenance, repair, tires, windshields, upgrades, etc., and how much was paid by the extended warranty, insurance, and by me.
A smart man knows what he does not know. Their are things I do not know and I need to find someone smarter than I am. I also hope to learn as much as I can from them. Like this customer I am very anal which can be both good and bad. But then I don't know very many who have been in the aerospace industry who is not anal. Yes I use to be a A&P with turbine rating. That should show how long ago that was. I also use to be in the Martine industry and oilfield just to name a few. The more you learn the more you realize you don't know crap. While there is not much on a RV I can not fix i would never buy another one without a good inspection. You might wish to look up Steve Lehto and watch his podcast on RVs. It's worth every second of your time. Also if you are buying a new RV do it in Texas as they have new laws that will help RV buyer's. To me a smart person will have an inspection done and one by you guys as your anal and that's a good thing.
thx for sharing this excellent information vedio . I think I know why you clap Pierre , can it be some kind of French sign language for you have clap ?? just joking . This is my guess about why you clap ok , on a movie set a director would say , get ready everybody , lights , cameras , action , then a person would come out with a snap board with writing that might say on it take 1 , or 2 on it and he or she make a snap noise with top of the board .

Gives us drive to continue 😉

$60k more added to the initial budget wasn't going to fly 😉
Absolutely the best RV video on the internet hands down. Thanks for sharing this information!

You said it...we're all smart to a degree. We just need to learn how to use someone else's knowledge to our benefit don't you think 🤔?
@@blueoxontherun9188 absolutely.....and the fact that you two look at so many RVs you can spot common problems by brand... That type of knowledge is priceless
Repetition equals reality 😉
Another great video! I hope people listen to the advise. Great to see the grand kids.

C4BO love you Guys !!!
Keep up the good work. Consumers need this service more than many realize. I look forward to entering this field.
Best of luck!
How do you go about becoming an RV inspector? My husband and I both worked in quality in the automotive industry.

This is how everyone should buy an RV. Keep emotions out of everything you buy.
💯 miles an hour
I would love to get to the point where an inspection is needed. Problem is, I cannot accept the poor quality builds and materials used. If I am told some defects are normal and acceptable I lose interest.
I have to agree with your comments and concerns 😟
C4BO such a nice beautiful home. Beautiful people! 😊
Yes they are 😊

Totally worth the effort...and the seller will disagree with your personal inspection. Not from an independent source tho 😉
Good one

Great video like this is also a tool to use 😮
Right??

Well executed Mr Richard. Another financial piece of advice worth its weigh in gold !
Here I was thinking CRL meant Center Right Left...a popular card game or Can't Remember L..something! C4BO!
Great video, you should never pay MSRP for an rv. Knowledge is power new, used they all need to be inspected!
Oh yeah 🙄
Blue Ox roxs!
🤣 good one 👍
Nice to see a video about smart RV buyers with a happy ending...not very common these days..
