So, as an Italian that gets summers of like 40 degreed Celsius I can give some tips on what to wear during those hot hot hot summer days.
    1. Use lighter colors during the day, keep the dark ones for the night time, so that sunlight will be reflected by your clothing and keep you fresh as a rose
    2. Choose cotton, linen and silk as fabrics, they're the lightest and airiest so they are going to help you a lot
    3. Pants must be light in fabric and color and if you can completely skip them, in favor of dresses, skirts and shorts. If you really can't renounce on them prefer Capri or Palazzo style pants.
    4. Hats can be your friends, but they must be stilish, so straw hats are the best. Sunglasses are a must!
    5. (Bonus tip) Spray thermal water will be your best ally on those hot summer days, I always bring a mini size in my purse!
Hope this helps, if anyone has anymore tips please add on. Kisses from Rome 💕🇮🇹

linen silk cotton... & viscose works well. I've also found that lighter colors are better for daywear & that a thinner linen material is better than if its a thick linen. Besides natural fibres are better for when you sweat.

Excited for the color analysis video! Myself I’m focusing on building a work wardrobe that’s not just “this fits/is clean/hasn’t fallen apart yet” - something I realized as someone who grew up broke is that even though I am very comfortable now, I still have a mindset of “I don’t need more clothes/I should save money”. But that holds back my expression, how people perceive me, and keeps me buying emergency clothing or wearing beat up stuff that’s barely appropriate for the weather. Your channel has been helping a lot.

Yes! Me too. I have only in recent years allowed myself to spend money on nicer clothes. It is still such a huge challenge, which makes no sense as I love clothes. I don't need to be wasteful, and don't need a huge wardrobe that's not the point. As a matter of fact I think that buying quality is less wasteful than skimming by on the cheaper stuff. I just need to collect more well made clothing, shoes and purses, while still taking a minimalist approach at least to a point. This channel is great for that!

There is no better fabric for heat and humidity (georgette is not like satin, it much looser weave so it breathes) EDIT: OMG I just noticed you have a ficus Audrey in your frame :))) That is so cute! I will never buy a designer bag. I'm sorry, I do not see the value of spending the price of a luxury car on a nicely designed piece of leather. Chanel is simply outrageous, nowadays. Please do a video on high-style, high-quality, well-made leather handbags that are not screaming logos (quite vulgar, IMHO) or costing a fortune. A well-made bag (protective feet on the bottom, reinforced bottom, good lining, straight stitching, quality leather, solid, functional hardware, but no fancy logos) should be available for a few hundred. You explain things so clearly! Thank you. I have a challenge for you around size inclusivity: next time you go shopping, what if you only bought from places that offer plus sizes? Even as a mental exercise, I think you’d find it very eye-opening. When you mention trying to shop for different retailers than you normally buy from, it reminds me how incredibly hard that is to do when you need a larger size range. I sew most of my own clothes, and there’s a big movement within our community only to buy patterns that have an inclusive size range, even if you fit in the smaller sizes. Along the same lines, I’d love for you to search out Pinterest inspiration pictures to include larger bodies. The more we all train our eye to see style on all ages, figures and genders, the better we can figure out our own style!

    • @JeanFB16
      @JeanFB16 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Yes I "second this motion"! 😉 So often there are outfits, silhouettes, fabrics, etc that would be perfect for my needs (for example, stylish things to wear in a hot, humid climate) but that are offered by companies that only manufacture up to size 12. And I couldn't agree more with the idea that many influencers would be shocked at the limited range we have to choose from. Great recommendation.

As other commenters have said, I feel the same way as you about cold versus warm weather dressing and can't wait to get your ideas. I, too, have way too many sweater for the climate in NC. I did have a couple of small breakthroughs last summer when I ran across a light, longsleeved linen shirt (at a thrift store, no less!) in a wonderful blue that I instantly fell in love with. Saw it through the window on a rack, ran there, and it was my size. That's what I want to feel about more summer pieces. I'm so happy when I put it on. Also, it taught me that long sleeves in a light, breathable fabric, may actually be better than short or no sleeves as they keep the sun off your arms. I'm also excited to hear about your personal color consultation! Thanks for your wonderful videos. ❤

The fit/straight-flare silhouette looks absolutely beautiful and so flattering on you! As well as the puff sleeve white top. I enjoy seeing unique twists on basics; elevated basics. This is what I’ve been focusing on and it really makes for some lovely outfits that don’t look like what others are wearing. I decided to break away from some common outfits seen in my area (specifically army green cargo jackets and skinny jeans). I have an army green trench instead and straight fit jeans as well as some boot cut. No one I’ve seen wears trench coats in my area!
Warm weather dressing is another area I’m focusing on as well! Keeping it classy and working with silhouettes that flatter my body too. Here in north Idaho, our summers are getting hotter and more uncomfortable than I’m used to, but I’m not comfortable wearing short shorts or showing skin, wearing bikini tops around town. I love linen and would like to work more with this and light cotton fabrics.
Just today, I played with some color and an outfit outside of my comfort zone. I wore it to church and felt so so good and confident! I’m discovering new things about my body and style as well and can’t wait to see your journey too!

This video was so well thought through. This year of 2022 my plan is getting more colour on my wardrobe, I realized I was really wearing a lot of black and dark colours, and that's not necessarily a bad thing but it was not bringing me comfort or really showing myself in the way I want to. I want to add some colour into my wardrobe, but also be seen seriously by my peers and to be comfortable, it took a while, but that's what I realized so far. In the proccess I also managed to slowly buy the things I want to wear, it's not like I made a conscious decision about it, but it worked out in the end. ✨🍃

Living in Florida, I can’t wait to see your warm weather outfit tips! I know I will be inspired. I’d also love to see some color palette ideas that incorporate lighter neutrals with some color mixed in. I find that a lot of my black and gray pieces feel too dark down here.

I would love a video on wardrobe analysis. I don't mean the typical declutter, find inspiration, buy basics, and add interesting accessories. I would like a video about how to evaluate what I have. What questions should I be asking? How do I mix up styles and silhouettes? How do I make the most out of what I have?

I can’t wait to see your video on color analysis! I’ve been considering limiting my wardrobe to certain colors, but I’d love to know more about which ones would suit me best, as well as combine well together. I did the old color analysis back in the day (I can’t recall the name of it, but it was often used for makeup - maybe Color Me Beautiful??), but I’d like something more updated and modern.
Lovely video, and thank you for sharing Audrey!

Is this how people who look great all the time do things? They intentionally choose a color palette and assess their wardrobe in a methodical way? I wish I had known this all my life. As always, learning how you think about things is inspirational, Audrey.

My jewelry collection is on my purge list too. I moved to south FL several years ago, and quickly realized that big chunky jewelry is just too warm in a humid climate, so that all got purged. But then I started collecting long pendant necklaces instead, and now I realize I haven't worn any necklaces at all in at least a year. Also any earrings I haven't worn in at least two years - that's all got to go.

I also prefer to dress like I live in the Scottish Highlands rather than on the Eastern seaboard. I do not have the soul of a Southerner. My issue is more that summer dressing is so body revealing and I do not feel comfortable that way. Very interested in how you tackle this since it’s a goal of mine to focus on lighter clothing this year too.

I love whites, especially in summer. But I never liked white button down shirts although it is a classic wardrobe piece. It is too masculine for me, I always look for more feminine cuts and shapes. I love summer clothes, but need more inspiration to be more creative and stylish. I am excited that both are in Audrey's 2022 plan. I look forward to your incoming videos covering these!

That is me. I’ve tried to force myself to like the classic white button down. I find it is rather a lot of work because I have to have my hair and makeup just so, and certain earrings……otherwise, like you said, it looks masculine. I never feel comfortable wearing it, but it looks fabulous on so many others.

I’m with you, do not like heat and hot weather dressing! But I am bored with my wardrobe recently and your video inspires me to peruse the stores for something a little out of my box. I work virtually and have gotten lazy about my wardrobe, even wearing sweats, something I’ve never worn!!

I’m excited to see what you come up with in expanding your summer style (and your color analysis vid!) I’m in a very similar rut as you (which is ironic since I live in SoCal). I spent my college years in the Midwest so sweaters were a staple and I started my style journey then. Despite being back home for several years now, I still love sweaters even though I don’t particularly need them. Lol.

  • @sally-annparker6744

I live in a hot climate where we have had a record number of days over 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) this summer and the temps have been sitting in the high 90s and above for a very long time now.
I find dresses almost the only bearable things to wear and have many, some casual, some dressy, but all super comfortable and quite lovely.
Have also got into midi mid calf length billowy skirts in natural fabrics, but with fitted tank tops or tshirts as I don’t at all like drapey or layered or loose clothing. I love summer wear with more colours and find summer quite a simple easy season to dress for although am always ready for the cooler weather and a bit of relief from the heat. But dresses, dresses all the way - so simple and easy, and a million different looks and silhouettes.

Loved the sweet and feminine ruffled blouse in place of your typical white button down. Also love the mother of Pearl jewelry. I get great ideas from you! Thank you! You dress more classic than me, but I want to tone down my wardrobe because it’s easier to dress and travel. The way my wardrobe is right now, I have crazy colors and prints, tons of separates and dresses and not many pants.

Hi Audrey! I enjoy your videos so much! I have similar challenges with being petite. 5'1", 103-109lbs. (Pie and ice cream fluctuations. 😖) I commented out loud when you said how you have to refrain from buying any more sweaters. Same here. I bought so many new sweaters last fall that I had to store some in space bags because I have no more room in my closet.

Great video! I'm excited to follow your journey with warm-weather clothing - as someone who lives in FL but loves the aesthetic of sweaters and fall/winter clothes, I've found it difficult to find inspiration for clothing that I can wear more than 10% of the year and also tend to over-buy those items... although, thanks to the overuse of AC inside here, we do get to layer a little. :)
