Also burgundy and white: as a Canadian I avoid red and white to avoid looking like the flag, but burgundy and white can give that contrast impact and still look autumnal, and not like a Canada day parade, lol
I totally needed this explanation between burgundy and maroon!! I find that I am so disappointed when I wear maroon and now I totally understand why I need burgundy!!! Thank you so much as always-- Audrey love you honey
Me too...recently bought, as described, 'burgundy' long sleeved top online but when it arrived it was (now I know the difference, thanks Audrey 😉) actually maroon. It just looked a bit off with my skin tone. However, as it is such good quailty and was heavily discounted I will keep it to wear under jumpers etc as a layering piece in the winter 😊
I'm the exact opposite - I need maroon because I have a warmer undertone to my skin. I find it so disappointing to see something listed as 'maroon' only to find it's been burgundy all along.
I recently bought a solid burgundy scarf - such a pop of colour against all the greys, blacks and whites I wear . Combines well with medium to dark browns also .
Yay! Burgundy and teal are my favorite "non-neutrals". Burgundy, in particular, makes me feel beautiful and elegant. The moment autumn is in the horizon, I start pulling my burgundy pieces out of storage, and I get so excited! Thank you for showing so many creative combinations. Funny as it might sound, I took inspiration from an oriental rug in my house to develop my fall/winter palette, so I have deep reds, soft blues, creamy beige, and sage green as my main seasonal colors. I personally prefer burgundy to maroon, and love it with shades of blue, rose/mauve, sage or very light olive, and creamy neutrals the best. Oh! I also like it with cognac leather accessories. As I started developing a more curated closet, and had my core black-white-gray-beige-navy pieces accounted for, my first two important purchases were a burgundy knee-length coat and burgundy ankle boots with a pointy toe. And...you are right---when I wear burgundy head to toe, I feel MAGNIFICENT!
Love how you describe burgundy and green as a toned down Christmas combo in attire, perfect way to participate but “not looking too festive” . Love beige /camel with burgundy! My skin is warm toned but find the coolness of the combo balances my look so i dont look too warm
it’s one of my signature colours, i think. One of my favourite combinations is with a light turquoise. It’s such an unexpected combo and I definitely use it a lot (especially when it’s colder with my burgundy beret and turquoise scarf)
After discovering that I am more "winter" than "summer" and that my favourite warm colours do not suit me I am trying to find new "favourite" colours and I think burgundy might be one of them especially after watching your video! Thanks!
I've learnt a LOT from you. You've opened my eyes towards colour combinations I didn't even know existed. You've also calmed my anxious soul because now I know I can most certainly pair anything with at least something. I was invited to a gathering recently where I wore a pastel purple-pink top with a greyish blue skirt. It was my most daring combination so far and I got a lot of compliments for it, all thanks to you🤗
That must have looked wonderful, it's definitely not a usual combination. I learned a lot here as well, I had never realised how much psychology is impacted by the colours we combine, and it's certainly empowering to be so much in control of how we are perceived once we become aware of how colours play together. Audrey almost breaks it down to a science. A game changer trick for me was what she said about looking at colours that occur together in nature and use that. For example how we feel when we look at the sea, the sky, the earth, a garden, Autumn, etc, and then taking those colours to subliminally induce the same sensation through our outfit. That idea is brilliant, it's hard to go wrong with that in mind.
@@stupor_mundi I know right? I too follow that advice. I've started learning from the colour combinations found in flowers. It's a really nice way to learn about complimentary and contrasting colours.
Omg! Grey with lilac/pink... Such a great combination! I love those colours together, they are so in harmony. Im sure u looked beauuuutiful!!! I take a pic of my outfits and store them on a private pinterest board for when 'I dont know what to wear' so I go there and I look at my own previous combinations with items that I have in my closet :)
I had my eye on a certain burgundy jacket but had no burgundy in my wardrobe and had no idea what to pair with it. It is a relief how well it pairs with navy, charcoal grey, and beige, but the cooler forest greens and even teal is really surprising to me! I never would have thought of that.
For years I have been wearing burgundy shoes with black or marine trousers . It just looks so rich. I have had a burgundy purse for 10 years and take it out every fall...always a joy! For me burgundy is timeless.
Burgundy has always been a favorite of mine. It works with much of what I own and goes very well with my coloring. Burgundy/grey especially works well for me.
I LOVE your videos... I would love to see one on how to wear beige/tan/browns/ earth tones that are so popular. It's so hard to find just the right color of these neutrals/earth tones that don't make people look washed out or bare. I know cools/warms play a huge role in this but I'm not sure I've seen a video anywhere how to wisely use these colors
Fun fact : "bourgogne" is burgungy in french : a french region famous for it's wines... but the color burgundy in french is called "bordeaux" ...another french city/region famous for ... well you know what ;-))) sacrés français !
Thank you! I have a burgundy turtleneck that I never wear but now feel inspired to pull out. When I think of burgundy on burgundy, my mind goes to the outfit Michelle Obama SLAYED at the inauguration. That was such a pulled-together look that it is forever etched in my memory.
Amazing! Burgundy is such a magnificent colour and I have re-discovered it this fall. So, once again we are in perfect time synch, Audrey! I myself particularly enjoy burgundy and white combintion, so cool, crisp and very fresh. Thank you for yet another very inspiring material.
I really love burgundy with black, but my favorite association is with a white piece. Those 2 together are wow for me and the white gives more luminosity than beige as far as Im concerned (Depending on your skin). Im definitely eyeing a burgundy power suit now😍Wonderful Audrey👏🏼🙋🏻♀️
Burgundy is one of my absolute favourite colours. We are going into spring/ summer here in Australia but I will be rewatching this video to prepare for our autumn/winter 😉 I so love these colour videos Audrey. Your research and information is meticulous. Thank you 💗
Hello fellow Australian, I also love the colour burgundy. Three years ago I purchased a pair of burgundy pants. I actually bought 2 pairs as it is difficult to find burgundy coloured pants. I am just curious as to why burgundy is considered only an autumnal colour. I see a great deal of the colour burgundy in nature during spring and summer - in many flowering plants and trees and in fruits (cherries, grapes, plums). Burgundy, for me, is not what I would consider to be a heavy colour for spring or summer as, for example, black or a darker brown. I wonder if anyone else thinks as I do?
@@niram1973 Hi Niram, I too bought two pairs of burgundy pants last year, as you said they are a rare find. Mine are in a light weight material (would love some in woollen material too) so I intend to wear them in spring/summer, I love burgundy with crisp white. I am a huge fan of wear what makes you happy 😊 Take care, stay safe 💜
One combination I love (especially for interior decorating) is burgundy, scarlet red, and blush pink. Tone on tone but playing with different hues and textures. Velvets, silk, metallics, and mattes.
Huge fan of burgundy and gray here. Gray is my favorite neutral, and I love pairing it with jewel-like tones such as deep greens, automny yellows and of course, burgundy!
Thanks, Audrey :-). I rarely do exactly as they tell in such films, but today -because of what you said - I wore a purple raincoat, a burgudny scarf and had a dark pink (almost funchsia) umbrella. My skirt, shoes and bag were grey.
Burgundy has been a staple in my winter wardrobe for a few years now. My three favorite colors to pair it with are teal, light blue, and mustard yellow ❤
I bought a pair of burgundy trousers years ago, and was afraid I wouldn't be able to style it in many ways because it is quite a bold colour. But in the years wearing it, I've been slowly but steadily pairing it with basically any colour in my wardrobe, and every time I am impressed again by how good it looks together. Definitely an underrated colour and so much easier to style than one would expect. I haven't tried pairing it with purple yet, thanks for the tip, will try it out soon!
Audrey, this is so helpful! Learning more about what colors look better with my soft autumn coloring has been a game changer - i never realized there was such a striking difference between burgundy and maroon! On another note, as winter is coming I’ve been pulling out my sweaters and (after letting a few go) i still have 17 sweaters! I feel like this is way too many, but I’ve never seen this subject addressed. I want to downsize, but i don’t know what questions to ask myself to know what I’ll need! (If this kind of video idea piques your interest I’d also love a similar video on scarves.) I grew up in a warm climate, but for the last five years I’ve lived in one that has very cold winters. Ive learned a lot but i feel like i missed the day in school where they teach you how many and what kinds of sweaters you should have! I would love to see you make a video about how many is an appropriate number, and what styles, weights and colors you believe belong in a classic, minimalist closet like your own. It would especially be helpful if you could show us the ones you own!
Audrey, I am thankful to you! Since started watching your channel, I have been gradually learning to be careful when shopping, packing for travels and arranging my wardrobe carefully. Lucky to find your channel, it is such a helpful experience for many women in different age groups🙏. Thank you so much for the time and dedication. (from Germany)
So inspiring seeing how you work with burgundy, and really helpful to learn that it is cool and maroon is warmer. Also the green and blue that go into creating burgundy and understanding why they pair so well and how to do it. Wow! I realize I have sooooo many outfits waiting to be created with what I already have in my closet. I would not have thought of being so bold and wearing so many different combinations, and watching how you do it and seeing how fantastic they look has given me the confidence to go for it. Love love love red and burgundy. Thank you so much Audrey. Color is the first thing we see in a painting and in our clothing and I’m so happy you are doing videos like these - more please and thank you! ♥️❤️♥️
I feel like you have given me some insight into my personality as my wardrobe is mostly gray, black, denim, and burgundy, with highlights of white and pale yellow. These are just what I like and what looks good on me. I didn't realize these color combos were a bit unusual!
Love, love, love this! Burgundy is my favourite colour so I was waiting for this with popcorn and drink at the ready. Thank you so much for this series it is so lovely. Could I possibly make a suggestion? I often hear you or other style vloggers talk about "Words that describe your style" Things like "chic", "Cool"" "Sophisticated" but I feel a lot of us feel a bit confused about what they mean and I think it could be an interesting topic for another series? Or even perhaps a collaboration? (My mind just picture you and Alyssa Beltempo discussing the difference between "cool" and "trendy" and I just...Who needs Netflix anyway? ) Enough of me rumbling, thanks again for your tips, keep up the good work
Am I the only male who enjoys Audrey's videos? Do they mix some hormones in my tea? :) I wonder if it is the color or the textile that gives the looks of beauty and quality.
Yeah. For malesthat video is perfect as well. Burgundy shirt with grey or navy suit? Perfect and sooo sexy. I love men wearing that colour combinations
I love burgundy in autumn. It is one of my go to colors. I usually wear it with gray, navy, or camel. Never dreamed of wearing it with orange. I am going to have to try those combinations. Thankyou for your videos, it does change our ideas about some fashion choices.
I love how you explain which colours together form burgundy, or any other colour in these videos. Would love to see a video about clay/terracotta colours and how best to style those :)
Never understood why maroon looks so dull on me and burgundy so bright till this video! Just clarified so much in my head! As an olive toned it was so hard pinning if I'm warm toned or cool toned till now
Audrey, I was glad you were explaining tone in burgundy as I find, me needing cooler tones, this is an important element in deciding which burgundy to choose. Thanks so much.
I like the color talks. Can you speak to the issue of the fashion industry’s’ ‘This years colors’. I find it frustrating that you go to shop and each season each brand has gone with almost the same palette of colors. WHY?? Some years the colors they say are this year’s are totally wrong for my coloring and I can’t buy anything. And why would they limit us to what they say are this year’s colors. I assume they think that by convincing us that to be stylish this year we need to buy this season’s colors. But if each brand is the same color doesn’t that actually limit my purchases? How many lime green tops does one need for this season! I would love to hear more about how you approach shopping for the items you need each season. I’ve gone to building my wardrobe over the year with strong foundational pieces then each season just adding one or two ‘this year’ items. I am petite like you, and this even further frustrates shopping since there are fewer choices in the petite sizes. When I am working less, which will be soon, I’ll go back to sewing more of my clothes.
I have always assumed the color choices have been based upon trend analysis that is usually done a year in advanced of each season. This limits the color palette that designers can produce and experiment with. Neutrals are usually always produced by brands each season, and a lot of times the color of the year only accounts for a small percentage of their overall assortment. I think of it like this if one popular fast food chain decides to introduce shrimp sandwiches, and receives a lot of success, press and sales other brands are likely to follow suit so that they can as well.
Some colours are just not my colours (not suitable for my skintone/undertone) so I ignore them. Or if I really like a colour but it doesn't look good on me, I might use it in home decor instead or buy somwthing like a makeup bag with that colour. But I don't really feel the need to follow trends. I have found my set of colours and a style that works. A lot of trends are just supposed make people consume more.
BIG mood. In my city, this summer was all faded/neon ish pastels which look amazing in some people but make me in particular look washed out. I shopped 100% online and secondhand, because I really struggled to find anything outside that palette in stores.
Hello Audrey. I absolutely loved this video. Not only did you share your knowledge about colors that go well with burgundy, but for me you also gave me a sharper insight into how I can choose other color pairings as well. Thank you for sharing your thought process behind each pairing that you suggested. I’m sure that I’m taking away an elevated knowledge of color play from this video and this is definitely going to help me branch out from the expected/usual color pairings that i tend to do. Thanks a lot!
Hi Audrey! I love these series! Could you do a series on the colors for a particular season? Like for people who are spring, summer, fall or winter? I love the way you explain things in such a practical way and I would love for you to have a series like that.
Burgundy is my favorite Fall/ Winter color. Thank you for bringing it back to the forefront of my mind, Aubrey! I have a Chanel-style tweed suit (mini-skirt and jacket) that I break up to maximize its beauty. I also have burgundy pants and blouses: you were asking where to find some pieces in this color and I found them in Ann Taylor (past collections). Thank you for all the outfit ideas! I have all the pieces I have seen here: the camel coats, the black leather midi skirt, etc. Thank you!!
That was such a lovely video! I love learning about colour and the feelings they evoke and how they mingle so beautifully together! And your images as you spoke were so lush and fun! From food, to clothing, to home decor - this video was a feast for my eyes and I look forward to hearing and seeing you talk about all the colours!!
This was a real eye-opener for me, Audrey! For years, I've avoided burgundy as burgundy and navy blue were the colours of my hated and deeply unglamorous school uniform (I'm English.) I could never think of burgundy paired with anything but navy blue and the prejudice ran deep - so deep that I almost skipped the video! I'm so glad I didn't as the combinations you suggest gave me a totally different take on the colour - especially with green and grey. Many thanks!
Thank you for the burgundy lesson, Audrey! I noticed burgundy seemed to come in two different shades but was too ignorant to realize it was maroon. 🙄 I prefer the burgundy. Between you and my French ladies Marie-Anne and Frederique I am learning so much. I love the fact that you three do a different approach to styling and teaching. No competition between you, it's all good. 😘
Love your channel, and this video popped into my feed today because I've been into burgundy outfits lately. I've never seen the difference between burgundy and maroon pointed out like this, thanks for sharing that!
i always learn from your videos, watching them is never a waste of time. very helpful to see the images, especially the ones i haven’t considered before such as orange and pink. thank you audrey 😘
I am loving the color series Audrey. Thanks for the inspiration. I love them both and I can never decide between Maroon and Burgundy, but they are both my absolute favorite colors. Technically maroon should work best for me because I have a warm undertone but there is something about burgundy that just makes me feel sensual, confident and more like myself.
Thank you very much !!! I only combine it with black or grey. You show a large amount of possible colors to match !!! Thanks a lot ...A big huge from Perú...
I positively love burgundy! I have some burgundy pieces already but now that I have a better understanding of what makes up the color, I am that much more excited to look for more! Navy is a huge staple in my wardrobe, as is olive, deep green and...gray! I also have a mauvy pink sweater and have loved it -- I'm excited to find new ways to have fun with these colors ☺

I often hear you or other style vloggers talk about "Words that describe your style" Things like "chic", "Cool"" "Sophisticated" but I feel a lot of us feel a bit confused about what they mean and I think it could be an interesting topic for another series? Or even perhaps a collaboration? (My mind just picture you and Alyssa Beltempo discussing the difference between "cool" and "trendy" and I just...Who needs Netflix anyway? ) Enough of me rumbling, thanks again for your tips, keep up the good work
Alyssa and Audrey is my favourite duet. What a brilliant idea
@@IevaKambarovaite thank you kindly, hopefully, they'd like it as much as you, and we all be happier :)
Perfect video, as always so polished and eye opening. I can only wish for a video on burgundys sister, terracotta. Love from Finland ❤️
Ooo, I love a bit of terracotta!
I just love these colour videos, Audrey, they are a great way to get inspired to rethink our existing clothes. Got many ideas from this!
Super helpful video, as always :) Reminds me the AMAZING Michelle Obama’s Inauguration Day burgundy outfit!!
Am I the only male who enjoys Audrey's videos? Do they mix some hormones in my tea? :) I wonder if it is the color or the textile that gives the looks of beauty and quality.
The information she gives works for anyone, I think!😀
Yeah. For malesthat video is perfect as well. Burgundy shirt with grey or navy suit? Perfect and sooo sexy. I love men wearing that colour combinations
I mean, there are a LOT of male fashion designers... :D
I love burgundy in autumn. It is one of my go to colors. I usually wear it with gray, navy, or camel. Never dreamed of wearing it with orange. I am going to have to try those combinations. Thankyou for your videos, it does change our ideas about some fashion choices.
I love this explanation between burgundy and maroon. You are amazing
Love the burgundy/red and burgundy/pink pairings! Not too common but so pretty!
LOVE burgundy... I learned so much from this post! THANK YOU, always... 🍷🍇
Please continue this series!!! They are soooo good
I love how you explain which colours together form burgundy, or any other colour in these videos. Would love to see a video about clay/terracotta colours and how best to style those :)
Never understood why maroon looks so dull on me and burgundy so bright till this video!
Just clarified so much in my head!
As an olive toned it was so hard pinning if I'm warm toned or cool toned till now
Oh yes! Burgundy and blue is my go to❤️
Audrey, I was glad you were explaining tone in burgundy as I find, me needing cooler tones, this is an important element in deciding which burgundy to choose. Thanks so much.
Burgundy is one of my favourite monocromatic looks, specially in winter!
I agree with shopping second hand. You get a better selectìon and a better price.
@@katherinefuller5267 Yes! Second hand is the answer.
BIG mood. In my city, this summer was all faded/neon ish pastels which look amazing in some people but make me in particular look washed out. I shopped 100% online and secondhand, because I really struggled to find anything outside that palette in stores.
I love burgundy, particularly with pink, camel/oat, and blues for my soft coloring. Thanks for these videos, Audrey!
One of my favorite colors
Hello Audrey. I absolutely loved this video. Not only did you share your knowledge about colors that go well with burgundy, but for me you also gave me a sharper insight into how I can choose other color pairings as well. Thank you for sharing your thought process behind each pairing that you suggested. I’m sure that I’m taking away an elevated knowledge of color play from this video and this is definitely going to help me branch out from the expected/usual color pairings that i tend to do. Thanks a lot!
To me this is a very regal color. Makes me feel like royalty. My prom dress was burgundy velvet and I felt like a royal.
Thank you!!
Just love your colour series! Especially the more tricky colours!
Great video! I also love the combination of burgundy with dark chocolate brown; this is one of my go to combos in the fall.
Well well it turns out that my favourite clothing color isn't burgundy but maroon 👀❤️ awesome video 💖✨ love you
This was a real eye-opener for me, Audrey!
Burgundy and green, especially olive green hit me aswell. Very interesting and eye opener.
Love burgundy and beige combination and, pink with burgundy, thanks for sharing this Audrey💕🌹
Thank you for the burgundy lesson, Audrey! I noticed burgundy seemed to come in two different shades but was too ignorant to realize it was maroon. 🙄
I prefer the burgundy.
Oh my gosh. Burgandy is my favorite and I reach for it often. This is awesome inspiration. Thank you. ❤❤❤
Oh my goodness, grey is my favorite staple/basic colour! I will pair it with burgundy for sure 🤗
Audrey listening to you….just so soothing…love all your videos! All the color series are so helpful thank you for sharing all your tips!🙏🏻
Can you add these to the color playlist? I wanna take notes of everything!
i am liking it before watching cause i looooooove the colour.
I think burgundy with gray is my new fav! 😘
My favorite color for winter
i always learn from your videos, watching them is never a waste of time. very helpful to see the images, especially the ones i haven’t considered before such as orange and pink. thank you audrey 😘
Love burgundy and you showing ways to wear it! Thank you!
I love grey. It's possible to combine with almost all other colours.
Oh so good!
Thank you very much !!!
I only combine it with black or grey.
You show a large amount of possible colors to match !!!
Thanks a lot ...A big huge from Perú...
No matter the colour the subject, i love lestenig to you again n again n again..thank you 💞💞
I positively love burgundy!
Perfect color matching.
Thank you, Audrey. 🥰
“Do you have grey in your closet?” 🤔
Well I have grey in my hair! 😂
Going to be drawn to all the burgundy pieces next time I visit my fave thrift store. 😉
One of my fave colours, and such perfect timing for Fall. Thanks for this video.
More of the color combination videos Audrey ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
