You can still be dx with Conduct Disorder if you are over 18. In the DSM, it says if you are over 18, you must not meet criteria for antisocial PD

Can someone be diagnosed Conduct disorder and antisocial personality disorder if they are an adult? if its started under 18 and they are now an adult, like 27 or whatever age above 18.

Mr. Chip conduct disorder is more for people under age 18. People can be diagnosed with ASPD if they were not officially diagnosed with CD if they displayed CD behaviors while they were under age 18.

You can still have CD as an adult if you don’t meet the criteria for ASPD.

Under Conduct Disorder, criteria C says "if the individual is age 18 years or older, criteria are not met for antisocial personality disorder". So DSM is saying that you could have someone who is more than 18 years and have CD and not antisocial personality disorder. I'm confused, because both criteria are so similar. Ima ask my prof on Tuesday.

      No
So if the person didn’t present with conduct disorder traits as a child or adolescent they can’t be diagnoses as anti social
Personality doesn’t change that much over time …
      Pretty set in stone
      No medication can fix it
And therapy at best can help them understand how they are affecting others etc

I replaced the name with abusing disorder. It so wrong to call it antisocial. Criminal disorder would be better than antisocial but I prefer abusing disorder.

Not all people diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder are abusers. I know a few diagnosed ones and believe it or not they actually are decent people, at least in some ways. One of them even actually tries to be a good person.

When I do bad thing, bad things happen. Bad things are bad so I don't do them. Do I necessarily care if it's bad? Not really, but I do the right thing almost out of spite of bad people. I turned my aggressive behavior into killing people with kindness because It has the same result; I'm making someone react to help break up the monotony of my day to day crippling boredom, and it's almost always through a positive interaction. We are not all criminals, depending on how intelligent the person with is ASPD is, we can become cognitively aware of other people's emotions. DBT and CBT groups are gold for people like us aswell. There is hope.

@@music0cool You have to either be abusive or be a criminal to have antisocial PD.

    • @music0cool

@@e_i_e_i_bro I know it seems like it from the DSM, but that is actually not how it is in real life

    • @e_i_e_i_bro

@@music0cool The only way to get a diagnosis is to have a pattern of committing crime or abuse (antisocial behaviour). That's like saying "I know the DSM makes it sound like people with avoidant PD and Dependent PD avoid people and depend on people but irl some are extroverted and self sufficient". Like you don't qualify for diagnosis then.
