Hahaha please don't ever get too serious about editing out your personality 😀 Your a treat to watch, even tagging and wrapping. The camera work is the best part 👍
Thanks Michael and really good timing! I am starting to accumulate paintings myself thanks to you and am about to ship three off as Christmas gifts. If you wouldn't mind telling me how long do you wait before you apply varnish and what product do you use?
Thank you Michael, your so kind sharing your process...your inspirational...I appreciate and thank you...you've helped me in so many ways...God bless...from across the pond. Planning on visiting the Carmel Gallery this wk...very excited.
I love your paintings, Michael and have learned quite a great deal from your videos. Watching this one reminds me of the Obsessive-Compulsive Chef from Saturday Night Live. However, if I could paint as you do, I would be careful as well!
Brilliant!. Lucky agent.... it must be like christmas for them opening up these parcels!..:) Thanks Michael very helpful. At some stage i would love to hear about your set up in the studio regarding ventilation when painting with alkyds.
Very interesting video! Are you always using those mdf panels? Are those just wood or do they have a canvas stretched over them? How is the surface compared to a normal canvas? I never saw someone draw on wood before and didnt know that it is a thing, so i am very curious. Thanks
Michael, thanks for the drink! It was so strong that I got a little drunk. Felt good!! I watched you wrap your paintings for sending. Can't get damaged that way. I also enjoy your presence on camera. IBut you don't look like Mozart, and you can be thankful for that. Have a good day! Your kooky friend , Fran
I enjoy watching your channel. I have a question on the mdf panels, which I'm sure is answered somewhere. Are the panels prepped in any way...gesso or painted? thx
Did I hear correctly? You are painting on MDF board? Is that the same as Gater board? If that is so, do you prep the foam boards with acrylic and oil on top of that? I only use a piece of gater board to watercolor on. I tape my watercolor paper to the gater board.
SB Stone MDF is medium density fiberboard. It's made from wood byproducts that are held together with resins. It's sort of like plywood but made with fibers instead of sheets.
I notice that on majority of your painting videos that they are sped up quite significantly. I was wondering how much they are sped up, or more simply (maybe not) how long it takes you to finish a piece, such as one of the ones in this video.
Do you ensure your paintings when you ship them? I recently shipped a painting of mine from Texas to California and when I told them what it was worth, they nearly swallowed their teeth. I didn’t think they wanted to handle it. I bought extra insurance for it to the tune of I think five dollars per hundred dollars value. Anyway, to insure it, cost me nearly a couple hundred dollars extra. It arrived safely.
is it the same method for just one painting (where you put hardboard against the painted surface of the largest painting) and then build the outer cardboard package ? ...and what would you do differently, if sending to a client (ie 'you'd put more effort in')? also, when you do varnish your own work, what do you use, why did you choose that one, and how do you use it... sorry for all these questions, but it seems to be an area of the process that is rarely covered (or at least, to a 'professional standard' when dealing with clients/competitions). always look forward to each new video you post :) thanks xxx
+shellelodge, hi ..Michael explained everything in his video...if he's sending to a client he'd package it differently..etc. Everything you've asked he talks about in this video...hope this helps...
yeh i watched it, very informative. but these were the questions i had after watching it, where he did say he'd do it differently if posting to clients, but not how. also i thought he said he sometimes does his own varnishing, just wondered if he'd done a video of this, and interested to know what he recommends and why. it was late last night i was watching it (was very tired), thought i'd missed bits, so i rewatched it just in case. luckily, i didn't. thanks for the reply though xxx
Ken Garcia , hi Ken..I would like to tell you, it's very rude, and disrespectful to comment as such. Very unnecessary to even comment...be thankful for him sharing all that he does. Just to put this video together takes a lot of time..and to upload it to TH-cam it took at least 2hrs!! We must be kind and respectful as well as grateful to all...please think about it..before you fire back...

A genius artist You Are ! I never seen such a perfection in landscape painting
Totally random, but when you were in the garage and sped up the film, the noise the cars make as they drive by is so funny! Super-duper package job!
Gorgeous work, they look like photographs, except with lots of soul.
Thank you for all I have learned and hopefully will learn from you Michael. Fascinating, how you paint.
Thanks Michael, good idea to explain packaging too.

Brilliant mate!
Hallo Michael ich wünsche dir Frohe Weihnachten vielen Dank für dir tollen Videos
When you varnish a painting what varnish would you normally use? And do you know of a cheap way to do it?

Why MDF over something like compressed masonite? It seems like the masonite would be lighter but still super sturdy.
magical.
Michael, thanks for the drink! It was so strong that I got a little drunk. Felt good!! I watched you wrap your paintings for sending. Can't get damaged that way. I also enjoy your presence on camera. Hi genius, I always amaze how patience you are with your work. I have a question: how long would you wait before varnishing the painting?
Thank you,
It doesn't matter Micheal that we can hear your dad , bless him . Could you show us one of his ones he's working on ..cheers
I second this motion
I third it.....
Great video 👍
Hey micheal! Jus wanna ask one question.ur work is really great., wanna know how much would u charge ur each painting for?
Presumably the paintings are framed later? BTW just new to your videos and they are brilliant. Thanks
nice work..
Thanks!

He showed how he preps his boards in a video called "How to paint Autumn Trees" :)
I am impressed by the details u put in..even in packaging. how do you prepare MDF board for paintings
Hi, he explains the boards and ground prep in his earlier vids...have to watch them...your missing out on a lot of good instruction.
+Joy Pittura thanks joy!
Thanks so much
Hola M:J:S. your work is beatiful !!!! Can you teach how to prepare the canvas to paint? Sorry if I write some mistake thanks for share it
Thank you I found the answer in the video no.54

Can you tell me what do you use as a base for painting. Is this a drywall panel or wood panel?
These are acrylic or oil?
By the way, I call the baking paper Parchment Paper.
Okay thanks. It looked white. Guess I'll have to go looking for MDF.
Your work is wonderful! On what do you paint? What kind of surface?
why dont you fucking listen to the video
Sir what do u do with shipping of very large paintings? As shipping like this will be costly...
Make a video of your recent paints
but what if those cardboard outer packaging bends or corners get damaged and what base u use
thanx. I would love to have someone else varnish my paintings. I have 3 cats and an indoor dog.
Picture title - Northern Pines? But they are Spruce trees. Good painting though.
which medium is better for oil painting
When do they get framed?
I know you mention your agent in a few videos, but I haven't heard of artists having agents before. What do they do?
ahh, he is a lucky man then ;-)
You paint on wood right? What kind?
Why not put a thin, thin sheet of foam on their faces to minimize friction? Seems like that would prevent any damage at all..

Oh I am sorry, just found it, what does Janice use?
Shops at Ken Bromley, good man.
💋💋💋
you are so Fanny!! (sei proprio buffo!)
what price painting
Wax paper?
Steve Jarrett
When you say you finished yesterday....how can it be ready to pkg? Am I a terrible listener?
He uses a fast drying oil paint. Plus if he uses liquin . It’s dry super fast.
Parchment paper....
Wax paper in the US. Ha!
I don't think Wax paper is it. I believe it is Parchment Paper.
SB Stone... or freezer paper...
SB Stone yes.... parchment paper can go in the oven, and wax paper cannot. Btw..... your talent is phenomenal! Thanks for all your responses!
Nn
Painting naming is very dodgy Mike! You need help here!
Sorry: funny...
by far the worst video to date ;- | still a thumbs up for comedic content!
