First centerfire autoloading rifle I ever had was an AR-15 that I put together myself. The parts are different but this was the same sort of thing I was trying to get.. Ballistic advantage 20" heavy fluted barrel with matched Nickel Boron coated Bolt and Carrier. Aero Precision Lower, upper, and handguard. Magpul Moe grip and fixed stock, ALG trigger basic 3 to 9 x40 scope from Vortex. and at first I used a run of the mill buffer and spring but was later convinced to get the silent captured spring. slightly more expensive as this factoring in the captured spring, around the same weight, and probably slightly better accuracy because of that ridiculous budget I threw into the barrel and matching bolt.

I'm running a BCA upper/PSA lower with a matching 20" 1-8 HBAR Criterion barrel with matching bolt, and a polished milspec trigger. (Took a Dremel with cloth buffing wheel and polishing compound to all the parts of the trigger group that touch.) Went with a Smith Vortex Flash Hider, a PA 4-14x44 with the DMR HUD reticle set into a UTG Accusync mount. Also running a tube mounted Holosun dot (don't remember which one off hand tbh) The gas block is an odinworks adjustable. Buffer is an H1, buffer spring is braided wire. Stock is the UTG clone of the B5 SOPMOD.
After shimming the barrel into the upper with some 0.005 stainless shimstock, polishing the trigger and pulling the crush washer off of the barrel and using loctite to set the flash hider, it's literally stacking mk262 at 100 yds. There's virtually no felt recoil.
The entire setup ended up running me about $1300-1400. I could have easily knocked that down to sub 1k had I just kept the BCA barrel and bolt, which were about 1 MOA accuracy. I'm a sucker for Criterion barrels though.
I'm ringing steel out to 800 with this setup using mk262s no problem.

Having built a few AR's now, I will say that you need to make sure you have enough eye relief for your scope. The traditional "nose to charging handle" method doesn't work well unless the scope is about 3 inches away from your face. An A2-length buttstock works better for scopes than an A1-length stock, and be sure to get a scope mount that can move your scope forward as much as possible without looking odd.

👍 to PSA for providing good quality AR products at a price most people can afford. 2 years ago I built an AR for my wife with a pencil profile SS 1:7x16” barrel upper with a lightweight M-Lok rail, MBUIS sights and a nickel boron BCG, a standard lower, MagPul furniture and a nickel boron coated and polished trigger group for $400! Did I mention the mid-length gas system? It’s soft shooting, lightweight and shoots 2 MOA with a Sig Romeo5 red dot with PERFECT reliability. I’m a fan of what works and so far, I’m impressed. BTW, PSA is made in the USA 🇺🇸

@@charlessalmond7076 to a degree, but in my experience when I was learning to play I got a used squire with the traditional 3 single coil pickup setup. It was way too one dimensional for the songs I wanted to learn to play and I ended up growing out of it quickly. After that I got a different guitar that was still somewhat one dimensional but was very good in that specific dimension that I liked at the time and was much better suited to me. Then I got tired of that specific sound it had because I decided to change genres and that guitar couldn't change with me. Then I got a Mexican Strat HSH that can sound like 5 different guitars. American strat would be nice but I'd almost be afraid to play it because it's so expensive. Sure a squire can be played as long as it's one kind of sound is the sound you like.
