    I regret buying this machine. Wish I would have taken the negative reviews seriously. Constantly comes off balance even during medium load and almost never fills. Every single time this month I’ve had to stop the cycle because it starts washing with about one gallon of water

      Yep its trash for sure. In the process of replacing the lid lock. It wont lock even tho its shut. Cant wash clothes then not to mention all the random malfunction's for no damn good reason. Then it has a 10 dollar a month insurance plan fuck outta here.

    I have the newer mvw7230hw with gas dryer pair.
    I’ve had mine for 6 hours and can’t figure out how to get it to clean a load. It fills up for 5 seconds washes for 5 minutes, adds more water, washes some more, fills up maybe 2 more inches, washes some more for another 10 minutes. Fills up the rest of the way, which is still not over the clothes even though it’s Deep fill, extra power and on Towels heavy duty or Bulk items. Then it just swishes back and forth really lightly. The top 1-2” of each load doesn’t get washed it’s that weak!! I just performed a software update on it, then it filled for LITERALLY two seconds then started beating the clothes in a wash cycle. I powered it down and unplugged it for 7 minutes to clear the 5 minute memory refresh timing. That allowed it to return back to it’s crappy wash cycle of filling up the bottom 2-3” then washing for 10 minutes, then filling up another 2”. Apparently this is ‘smart’ sensing technology. The darn load is full. Fill the friggin
    ’ thing up and wash it! It’s terrible.
    Terrible terrible terrible.
    I video taped a little white ball of styrofoam sit on top of my comforter, which filled up only halfway to the top of the agitator, and the white ball stayed on top of the comforter the entire time. Through all cycles.
    I the. Put it on Quick wash because apparently that had ‘intense agitation’. Same crap. White tiny styrofoam ball never touched water.
    How did I notice this in the first place?
    Our towels had ants on them probably from food from the kitchen and sitting for over a week the hamper. It had two ants in the load when I put the towels in the washer. When the load was done, those two friggin’ ants were on the top of the tub just walking around checking things out.
    A spatula and a bucket does a better job than this washer. I’m 6-7 hours in to the delivery and have spent this entire time watching each load to figure it out. I will be calling firet thing in the morning to get this crap ‘fixed’. And I will call them multiple times a day until they figure this crap out. $1k/unit, installed w/3yr warranty. This thing hasn’t worked from the second it was plugged in.
    The agitator literally moves one direction a few steps then back the other direction, THE EXACT AMOUNT OF STEPS. It does not tumble or pull clothes. It just moves water around! Garbagio!

    Had mine just over 2 years. Seems to wash clean when the cycle is over, clothes smell good. It washes the clothes in about an inch of water. I don't get that. ? If you set the water level higher, it will rinse the load at that height. Oh what I would give for an old school washer that really cleans! And actually wash clothes in water completely submerged.

    Given all the negative responses from viewers regarding this particular model of washing machine, it's difficult not to conclude that Maytag/Whirlpool must have paid Helpful DIY to provide an enthusiastic and positive review.

  • @wotan10950
    @wotan10950 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I’ve had this exact model for two years. BIG regret. This replaced a front loader that had some issues with the gasket. I wish I had chosen another front loader. This Maytag machine kills the clothes, accepts much less capacity than its large drum implies, creates a mountain of lint, gets unbalanced if you look at it the wrong way, and doesn’t wring out the water too well. As you pointed out, though, it looks nice.

    • @brendavaandrager5129

      Agree!!!! We bought this washer and I absolutely hate it. I barely use any detergent and it leaves a soap residue on my dark clothes and everything has lint on it. I washed raw edge/frayed denim shorts and they came out even more frayed and everything is so wrinkled. Have you come up with the best settings to avoid these issues? I can't return it because we didn't use a Lowe's credit card, so incredibly frustrated!!!!

    • @wotan10950
      @wotan10950 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brendavaandrager5129 I'm not sure if you're seeing a soap residue; that's what I thought at first, but it's just lint EVERYWHERE, especially on dark clothes. It goes against all common sense, but I've learned that if you bunch up the clothes (e.g. jeans in an S-shape) they don't get as damaged. NEVER USE THE DELICATE CYCLE FOR DELICATES -- don't put any delicates in that machine, it eats them up. I've tried every combination of cycles and options -- they all s__k. So I'm giving it to my daughter for free since she needs a washer. I bought an LG front loader instead.

    I hate this washer so much! I will not buy Maytag after this! It broke before it was a year old. Maytag sent an AC company to fix it bc I live in a rural area so there's no Maytag repair men out here. So anyway they said I needed a control board and wire harness. It literally took 4 months for the parts to come in. They came and supposedly changed those parts in probably 15 minutes. It worked, they left. Not 2 months later it was broke again with the same error code as the first time. Neither the AC company nor Maytag will accept responsibility and fix it. So I wasted $768 plus tax on a lemon and I'm fucking pissed! Buyer beware! This washer is a piece of shit!

    Just bought it recently. Very very noisy machine. Cheaply made. It is a belt driven motor so much noisier than the direct drive motors. Under specs they don't disclose the noise level. Would be nice if the manufacturer did. I regret getting this machine. Can't adjust water level once machine has started washing. You can pause machine and add clothes but you can't change any of the settings. My previous machine allowed me to change the water level any time during the wash. Washing cycle is extremely long. I now tend to use the quick wash cycle only to reduce washing time (I like this cycle). I wish I had bought a Speed Queen and paid the extra - they have a longer warranty period. I thought about buying extended warranty but read that people who did still had issues getting someone to come out in a reasonable period of time. So no more Maytag in the future.

    I bought the model MVW7230HC0, and my wife hasn't been happy with it. The issues she's been having are with the agitator. • @wyzemann
      @wyzemann ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alyssadrago3461 Mold and slime are attributed to excess detergent, fabric softener, and lack of proper ventilation. Every washer, mainly front loaders, should be allowed to evaporate moisture after completing your last wash. Front-load door seals should be wiped with vinegar and left alone to evaporate with the door opened until the next wash.
      So, once you are done washing...DON'T EVER CLOSE YOUR WASHER DOOR, NO MATTER THE TYPE, BRAND, OR LOCATION IN YOUR HOUSE/BUSINESS!

    I love this machine! I want it because then I can film pov's inside the washer by putting a camera in the tub without it tumbling and the camera won't break! Another reason I want it is because my grandma has the same machine and when I try to set the settings for her she doesn't let me. It is not fun for me plus I am a big fan of top load washers. I am going to buy the same one but just with a little more settings.

    • @wyzemann
      @wyzemann ปีที่แล้ว

      @DCrump70 There is usually a limited window of time before the retailers you mentioned will "take back" a major appliance. As for The Home Depot, you have 48 hours from delivery to inform them of any issues that lead to a return, including buyer's remorse. After 48 hours, you fully own it/them unless you have some pull with the particular store you purchased it from, which is not always a given. The reason for this rigid return policy might be none of the above stores own most of these appliances except for their floor models and a few select units. Also, they do not have the capacity to warehouse returned appliances. The manufacturer will now revert to their limited warranty to " assist" the end buyer/user. So, choose your retailer wisely and meticulously before you get suckered into the big box stores' ongoing sales and promos.

    • @DCrump70
      @DCrump70 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wyzemann I was told there is a no return policy on major appliances... period. It does not matter it you had these for 1 hour or 1 month. The fact is that they suck and Maytag knows it. Home Depot and Best Buy are just retailers that are bound by the rules of the manufacturer. We will never own another Whirlpool/Maytag product.

    This machine has convinced me to never buy another Maytag appliance.
    1. Lid latch is flimsy plastic and when it breaks you're out use of the machine until you can get a replacement ($20+). Took me three days.
    2. Agitator does not clean clothes. If I have to put a pair of jeans through three times because there’s a smudge of avocado on them, they should get clean. This piece of junk couldn’t do that.
    3. Agitator should not rip the legs/arms off of pajamas or wind clothes together so tightly that they are hopelessly wrinkled and have to be ironed to prevent it looking like you slept in them.
    4. You don’t/won’t know it’s time to run an Affresh cleaning cycle until you’ve loaded the machine and start it. Then, you have to unload it and hope you didn’t put in detergent, bleach or fabric softener because they’re now wasted. The work-around is to unplug the machine. You can then run ONE cycle but the next load will be run the cleaning cycle.
    5. The “on/off” button is right next to the “pause” button. This is an issue because if you accidentally hit the wrong button when you’re adding garments, the thing drains and you’re stuck with a wet load of laundry with detergent on them and have to start over. Typically, requiring more detergent.

Repair estimate two thirds the price of new. It now sits outside next to my shed with the clothes still in it because the lid wont unlock. F..k whilrpool. I'll never buy another of their products.

    It’s telling my lid needs to be close but it is and it won’t wash

      The flimsy plastic catch broke on the lid. Probably went through the last load. It has to insert into a funky space to let it know the lid is down. When it breaks off that doesn't happen. Worse, it will look like the latch is still there, but it's just what didn't break off.
