    My Dyna S came with the SE comp. Broke a day after it's 1000 mile service. Since it was under warranty at the time Harley replaced it. Five years later it's starting to clunk on shutdown. It's time for me to upgrade to the Man O War. Harley comps are junk. It's been a problem for years and Harley turns a blind eye to the problem. This Man O War seems like the best option out there,

    I know it's a pain in the ace but checking the runout and alignment etc is the stuff I want to see because that's the parts that make me nervous about doing this kinda work myself haha. You planning on going for a stage 4 in the future? You seem to be doing a lot of beefing up of everything that isn't necessarily needed "yet". That being said I too am a fan of overbuilding pretty much everything too. If I can nail it then I'll glue and screw or bolt it instead etc.

      Yeah man, I might go to the S & S 128 in the next year or so or even bigger if I want to get crazy like some of the power packages from Moonshine Harley. I’m not 100% sure. But even if I did not want to upgrade my bore size I would have done these for sure. No reason not to besides the money, and to me it’s worth it to have the peace of mind that these components will be good for the life of the bike no matter what, theoretically lol

    I had the same thoughts about using a impact when someone told me not to use one. I don’t know if it was a coincidence or not. But I used a impact taking mine apart and back together. A couple weeks later my bike stopped charging. Yep the magnets was loose. All 3 was touching end for end . Those compensators take a beating and a impact will break them loose. Noticed you used primary chain locking tool for earlier twin cams. You run the risk of breaking the inner primary cover doing this. HD recommends using a bar between the compensator teeth and clutch basket teeth to lock the primary so you can remove the bolt and clutch nut.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How does this risk breaking the inner primary??

    • @michaelmcclenahen3923
      @michaelmcclenahen3923 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the step wedge is installed between sprocket and chain, it forces the chain against the inner primary which may cause it to crack. On the earlier twin cams there is less chain slack so the wedge tightens between the chain and sprocket without making the chain hit the inner primary.

    So I have a 2015 fltruse and did a big bore kit on it. It came out at 118/124 and since then I have been getting a clunking noise from the primary so my man-o-war came in today and I’m excited to install it. Although I have Barnett kevlar clutches Scorpion will be coming soon. I’ve been worried about the increase in hp being put on the SE compensator which are problematic at best. Also adding a new diamond chain to assure there hasn’t been any “chain stretch.
    Your thoughts on this set up would be appreciated.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I’ll be honest with you and tell you that I don’t know that much as far as parts and what’s recommended on the twin cams. Although I have worked on them in the past obviously my focus is on the single cam M8 engines right now and that is where the bulk of my knowledge is. I would say look into whatever chain tensioner is recommended for you because I’m not sure if it’s the same for us, but for the Milwaukee eight the chain tensioner that is most recommended to pair with the man o war is the Hayden M6.

I am now getting an intermittent loud clunk when shutting down the bike in neutral. Have had a few master technicians work on it and they are all stumped. Every possible thought has been thought of, and have simply given up. My conclusion is to go back to a new screamin eagle compensator, a few other people i know have also come to the same conclusion. Ive also been told its a neutral rattle. When its hot, idling and you pull the clutch in, the noise goes away. Fit a SE Compensator, and there is no rattle at all. Clutch in or out. Conclusion is this is not a viable option for a road going bike, more for racing. Wasted a bag full of money 💰

      Wow lol that’s a big escalation from you man. I was not being sarcastic or rude in any way. I do not ship out of the US. I’m not a company. I’m just a regular person. I’m sure there are many options for you. You probably could even find a hardware or auto parts store that has it in stock instead of shipping. I don’t know why you feel I’m your only option

Unbelievable I’m not taking any chances next time

    • @RidinDad

      Yeah I hear ya man. I’ve used an impact for the the compensator on 4 different bikes now. And I know several others who’ve done it too. One bike I actually did the same thing 4 times to it lol. I’ve never had an issue ever but ya never know
