@@PSmith-dl2hw Yes they do, it’s called sous-vide and it’s a French dish. This process makes sure the meat is thoroughly cooked through so that it’s not cooked on the outside and raw on the inside.
That is such a waste of water and electricity to cook food in a dishwasher. Not only that, but the last thing I need is possible undercooked food, as some dishwashers take longer than others, and it depends how hot the water is. As someone who takes Culinary Arts in high school, we don’t have rules on cooking food in dishwashers, but if I was allowed to make rules like that, I’d consider it a violation.
just because you take culinary arts in high school doesnt mean youre able to speak on behalf on how to cook a steak. its like you didnt even watch the video as it mentioned sous vide -ing your food
@@royisdabest Dude, FYI, I did watch the whole video, and I know about souviding food. I am just saying that doing it in a dishwasher is not necessarily a very “approved” method. For instance for a steak: souviding is submerging steak in a sealed bag in boiling or hot water for however long. A dishwasher is not submerging it, it really more steams it. I hope I cleared up any confusion.
The dishwasher shouldn't reach temperatures high enough to degrade the plastic and that is actually the main problem here. The temperature dishwashers reach is below the recommended to kill pathogens in poultry, beef and pork. I wouldn't trust that the detergent won't degrade the plastic over time though.
Food safety isn't just a function of temperature. It's a function of time as well. Cooking food at a lower temperature for longer will eventually match the food safety levels of cooking food at a higher temperature for a shorter time. This is how people pasteurize foods that would go bad when heated to a higher temperature.
It actually isn't as simple as this. The dishwasher will not get any sort of crust on your steak, so it may be best to sorta try and put a quick crust on it afterwards, which if there is any bacteria, it should be gone once you do that.
@Nuclear Muscle I keep shirts in the freezer in the summer. They keep you cool about 15-20 minutes, so you need 2 or 3 to rotate, but it's soooooo refreshing.
