Another way to get the parchment to stay on the baking sheet is simply to lay it down curly side _down._ Oil the inside of the grater as well. Otherwise, the cheese will stick there. No metal utensils with a non-stick pan! You'll damage the coating! Vinegar will work as well as lemon juice to clean that oven. Put the onion in the fridge for 1 hour before chopping to cut down on the gas that makes your eyes water. After chopping onions, rub your hands on anything made of stainless steel. The steel neutralizes the odor. No need to waste a lemon. (I rub mine on the side of my sink.)
Great tips! From my grandma: When steeping black tea bags (she used 2 small ones), add a pinch of ginger powder, a small pinch of cloves, and a double pinch of cinnamon. Strain and add equal amount of water for iced tea. (My addition: contain those spices in a piece of muslin so you don't have to strain it.) You hardly notice the spice flavor, but it really enhances the tea flavor.
I make an instant chai mix with lots of spices, instant tea, powered milk and non-dairy creamer. I can make it a lot spicier than commercial chai tea bags that never have enough spice for me. It's great mixed with milk and iced.
Thank you to your grandmother for the fine ideas and hacks. I will try some of them when the situation arises. As for garlic smell on your hands, my grandmother said to run your hands over a stainless steel butter knife and the smell will be gone.
Wonderful ideas! Here is one for the team: if cooking something in a pot that tends to leave a stuck on residue at the liquid level, lightly coat the inside sides of the pot with a nonstick spray or light oil. It helps to make cleanup so much easier. As always, ❤ your artful videos and commentary!
Best video yet. Loved the potato waffles. Leave the greaseproof paper on when cooking burgers in a grilling machine. It saves such a mess. I didn't know you could use only one blade when using a mixer ...great tip for small mixes. Thanks for a really great video
Here's one from my Italian mom - may not be a new one for you: when scrambled eggs stick to your pot, don't waste time scrubbing, just wash in coldest water possible and they come right off.
My first job was dishwasher at a Chinese restaurant. I fought washing a pot that had rice sticking to the bottom with hot water. After shown to just put in cold water and let it sit for a while, it was easy to scrape the bottom to remove the rice. I do the same with eggs too.
Scones, or tea biscuits as my family calls them, doesn’t have to be divided into individual size portions before baking. My grandma would often just put the dough into a loaf pan and slice it like bread after it baked.
For smelly hands, rub them on a stainless steel sink. Odors from onion or garlic say goodbye. And if you don’t want your red onions so strong, like when using them raw. Soak them in a bowl of milk for 5-30 minutes. It makes them much more palatable. Rinse with cool water when done.
Thanks some of those are hacks from my dad by the way but I always said great minds think alike...😊 You could use oil on the knife you know olive oil or whatever oil you're going to cook with you put a little bit on the knife and then cut the potatoes they'll slide right off too.
These were great. Two things to note: do not use utensil spoons for measuring, you should use actual measuring spoons meant for the purpose. The amount in a dinner tablespoon is not the same as a measuring spoon. As well, that hamburger was not cooked. It's dangerous to eat uncooked ground beef (or pork or chicken), especially when cooking from frozen. When there is pink inside, or pink liquid coming out of the meat, it is not cooked.
Two things; in some countries burgers are cooked to be virtually raw in the middle (at every restaurant where I or a companion have ordered a burger in France, for example) - delicious and we don't get sick, and in Germany last year I had raw beef with raw egg and raw onions on rye bread at a restaurant:. It was phenomenal and I was fine after. My German grandma used to make this when I was a child (in America). I have often made it and I love it. I am not advocating for you to eat this in America, I am just saying that some places they eat the beef extremely rare in the middle or raw. And the other thing, I have different sized large spoons and some hold 1 tablespoon, but they are all close. I have found that anything I have measured using a large spoon instead of rummaging for the round tablespoon has been fine. Measurements often don't have to be that exact anyway. A baker.
❤️❤️❤️@ cherish your Oma. My Uma hands smell like cinnamon and walnuts. Used to be my favorite pastry she use to make. It was called a Bigel in our dialect. That’s the phonetic of it in English.
One of the best applications for parchment paper is putting it over the grinder when rubbing lemon skin. You don't lose a whole third in the grinder as otherwise, and also easily remove the desired material from the paper.
Also frying it from Frozen will save you on putting any oil in your frying pan the moisture from the freezing part of your Patty I'm not explaining this very well but I think you get the idea we'll add enough moisture so it won't stick to the pan eventually the fat itself from your burger will keep it from continuing to you know stick.
I am a grandma. This video was best yet. A little wrinkle to burger from frozen...leave greaseproof paper on especially in grilling machine. Saves a lot of cleaning. I use kitchen towels in vegitable box..much better to absorbed moisture and straight into compost bin with rancid veg when cleaning out fridge. I learned something surprising today. I didn't know you could use only one attachment to mixer for small mixes like a small amount of cream or an egg in a glass ?😊
1. Do not store potatoes and onions together. The onions will cause the potatoes to rot. 2. Never use cold water to bring the water level up in a pot of hot cooking dried beans. The cold water will bust the beans and they will never cook soft enough to eat. Only add boiling water to hot cooking dried beans.
Love watching the amazing tips. Thank you. Just a correction in the tip to avoid the potatoes from sticking to ur knife. Instead of a matchstick u can use a toothpick.

If you accidentally drop a raw egg, cover the mess with a heavy layer of table salt. Let it sit for a minute or two. Then you can easily scoop it up with a paper towel and sweep the excess salt up. Works like magic.
When using/making ground (hamburger or pork) meat in a grinder - have your spices, sugar, pepper, and salt on hand and add into the grinder, and allow it to mix up the product with the ground meat. No more after grinder hand mixing up the spices into the meat grind. No later, cooking of the meat and adding salt and pepper et al to the frying pan or at the dinner table.
Do you not still have to wash the mallet? After all it has chicken bits on the prongs? If so you have to wash it anyway so what's the point of the parchment?
Yes, boiling lemons in water in the microwave will make it easier to clean really messy microwaves. Vinegar works as well, that's what they say to put in this Angry MaMa microwave cleaner I purchased but have yet to try it out. 💜💜💜
I use only the flat end of my meat pounder! Also, use the other side of the parchment paper and it won't curl or roll up. Vinegar works well for cleaning and is much less expensive than lemons.I'll try the potato-waffle maker trick.
Great potato patties. Boil potatoes and adding salt and pepper put potatoes through a potato ricer. Using a modern smash burger ring at the preparation table, put riced potato into the ring, and then use the smash press handle, smash down the potato rice into a potato patty. Remove and place between parchment paper. Store in ziplock or plastic container in fridge for fresh patties, or freezer for later use. Use individual or multiple patties in the cooking pan - all salted and peppered.
thanks. Some of these I might use. For the last one - I use cotton terrycloth cleaning rags. I put one of those in the bottom of my vegetable drawer. Same idea as the paper towels except reusable. I just swap it out and wash once in a while.
Here's a trick I use for storing vegetables in a Plastic Zip-Lock Bag. Fill the bag with vegetables and then insert a Straw. Do up the Zipper so the bag is closed except for where the straw is. Put the straw in your mouth and suck the air out. When there's no air left, sqeeze the zipper over the straw and pull the straw out. When the straw comes out, you should hear a snap as the bag seals shut.

(and if you have a cut or scratch on your hand there won't be any pain from the lemon) Edit: I forgot to say, I am so going to try the egg in a sieve tip.
A couple tips I learned…1)put a slice of bread into a container of brown sugar that has become hard, take the bread out the next day and your brown sugar is soft again. 2) to measure peanut butter or shortening/lard put cold water into a wet measuring cup (the kind that has multiple measurements on its side, and a handle, is a wet measuring cup) until you reach the 1 cup mark. Then spoon in the peanut butter, etc until the water rises to the desired amount, pour out the water, and you have an accurately measured amount. 3) For non-sticky pasta, put some oil in the pot of water before boiling, and before putting the pasta in. Works every time. I also rinse my pasta in a strainer under hot water after it’s cooked to remove a lot of the unnecessary starch.
My grandmother had us little ones stir the cream to start the butter separating process. She told us to stir in one direction...if we stirred the other direction, it unwound it😂😂😂😂 some tip!!!
