this one is probably one of the most useful videos Nick has ever created! Great explaining, extremely easy to understand even for those who are not into the steak world. Hats off, Nick!
Great presentation and I can see a lot of steak newbies picking up techniques easily here. One thing I do notice is that you can apply Guga’s cold grid technique to eliminate grill marks. Much better golden brown crust versus burnt marks.
I’m a teen and I just want to say that this video helped me cooked my first steak. Ribeye, medium rare, seared and butter based. It was very tender and juicy, it had the best crust I’ve seen, and it tasted better than a steak I had at a steak house. Thank you.
I'm a college student and have been cooking for myself this year. Your content is amazingly produced, and helps me to understand why certain decisions are made more than generic recipes. Keep up the good work!
My 11-year-old son, Vasilis, cooked the steaks today following your instructions. It was delicious! He is such a great fan of you! Thank you for revealing the secrets in a simple, easy to understand, and follow way!
Thank you so much for the tips I used this to cook a fillet mignon for my moms birthday 🎉 she was happy and loved she said it was the best steak she ever had and I know she being because she knows because she is an amazing cook herself and so happy to give her the same joy that she has given. Thank you Nick 🫡
Nick, you are the man. Thank you so much for this thorough breakdown. I didn't know how much I needed this in my life. You were amazing on masterchef. And I've enjoyed watching your channel and you grow as a chef.
At the age of 15, i learnt how to make pasta by hand, made dishes adults cant make and learnt how to make perfect steaks in lots of different ways, and mostly because of these videos, thanks nick
I made my first steak when I was 11, pan seared (I forgot what cut it was!) without any help. That was thanks to watching my brother do it following your instructions... Thank you!
I’ve been watching nick for so long. I started watching master chef the season he was there and immediately loved his personality and skill in the kitchen. I’ve been subscribed for just over a year and a half now
Nick! I want your opinion and I hope you see this. My father (rest in peace) had perfected his steak cooking to what I called a medium rare plus. Perfect warm red center but the trim was just turning pink, just breaking the layer of medium. Such a beautiful flavor even for a $2 steak sometimes. God I miss his cooking almost as much as I miss him. Love the content Nick!
Hi Nick! After seeing this video i was really inspired. I made my first steak today which i paid around 17 dollars for and seeing as this was a first time thing, i had low expectations. It turned out i had nailed the crust and also gotten a beautiful medium rare. This video really helped to understand how i should make steaks and i really appreciate it!
Inspiring and educational, thank you! I purchased a skirt, ribeye, and picanha steak and our family had a cook off and shared the end products. They were all delicious. It was a fun way to get the family together.
That was an eye opener! I'm 74 and have been grilling wrong all this time. I just bought 2 thick rib eyes yesterday and I will be using your grilling technique. Actually, I think I'll just try all of them! Thank you.
Nick your a real inspiration, your videos are the reason why i fell in love with cooking and now its even the job i want to get when i graduate. Really love your videos thank you so much for all the tips and recipes i want to try.
you genuinely have no idea how much this helped me, after messing up with a tenderloin (no crust) i realized exactly where i went wrong and wont make the same mistakes next time. thanks for this video, saved the next steak ill get my hands onto lol

Huge fan of sirloin and filet mignon as a dish, but the chuck steak as a cheap cut for barbecues sounds like a plan! looks a very nice cut of meat with plenty of marbling.should be a very nice flavour without too much effort to demolish any trims
Thank you so much for this video. I just finished watching season 10 of Masterchef and was so sorry you didn't win. Looked you up on the website of what season 10 folks were doing now, and it told me about your TH-cam channel. This is the first video of yours I have watched, and I just subscribed. I look forward to watching many more.
just made the best steak of my life! I was SO doubtful at first especially with seasoning since I was using all kinds of different things prior to watching this. I also let my sister have some and usually she says it needs more this or that and today she said it was 10/10 and the best steak she has ever had. Will forever be following this video
I learned a lot from this because I am not a good cook when it comes to steak and I am going to be cooking 18 steaks for a gender reveal party but this helped me a lot and the payment was 300 dollars because I had to cook the steaks and I had to buy the steaks, thank you. I thought the marbling was just a bad part but actually a really juicy and delicious part.

After looking through 70+ videos on how to cook stakes in the grill. Here comes Nick, makes one video and tackles all the noise in TH-cam in 17:51 minutes. Great job
Thanks for the video Nick, I know I’m late commenting but I watched the video offline when it first came out cause I didn’t have an account yet. Anyway I have now cooked about 10-11 steaks since watching this video. All of them have turned out medium rare. This guide was one of the most helpful things I’ve seen on TH-cam. Thanks.🙏
I think you might want to try experimenting with adding pepper to steaks after cooking rather than before. surprisingly pepper burns pretty easily so if you're cooking at a high temp you're basically just burning it right off and not getting any benefit from it, whereas if you add it after cooking you'll get all the benefit from the pepper flavor. Try it out and see what you think.
Honestly thank you it’s not that I couldn’t cook a steak I didn’t have the confidence that I could get a good sear but with your video man not as good as yours but still got one 😊
Fantastic video, Nick! Your guide on choosing the right cut and how to cook it perfectly was incredibly insightful. I can now see where I have not been using the right cooking method on the different cuts. Also appreciated the tips on slicing the steak - makes a real difference. Planning a small birthday dinner and will use your suggestions. Liked, already subscribed!
great video. I've been eating wagyu regularly for the past 25 years - at one point I was eating it 3 times a week due to the many business dinners all over Japan... I can say that nowadays (I'm almost 50 yrs old), I prefer much less fat but still very tender. there is a cut called akami (filet mignon) but has almost zero fat. it was amazingly good - rich with flavor. I still enjoyed marbled beef once and a while but eat it much less often.
I am just starting to learn how to cook steak for my partner. Before I was leaning towards medium well to medium, but now I appreciate medium rare a lot these days. I guess it really is just a matter of getting used to. Thanks for these tips!
