I went through all of these steps and even flashed the BIOS to the newest version and it still won't post. The only thing I've landed on is the RAM is not on my mobo manufacturers compatibility list, so hopefully that's my issue. This is a good vid for newer builders to watch!
Yes I did and it's funny bc I never thought of this at all! The problem was the actual HDMI cable I was using came with the Xbox 1, and I swapped cables and it posted right up and I was so pissed but relieved at the same time. I would had used a DP cable if I had a monitor that high end but for now I have to use my TV and that was the issue. I hope this helps.
After replacing the motherboard, my PC worked fine - the fans were spinning like it should, and everything looked and was heard alright in the case - except it didn't give any signal to the monitor. However, it turned out that the problem had to do with RAM sticks not properly connected into the motherboard. Make sure they're pushed in well and carefully
Thanks so much. I had everything connected perfectly, all connections snug and... no post. 2300 usd in components and I thought it was all about to end in failure. Got near the end of this video and on a hunch decided to tinker with the RAM a bit. They were in the correct slots (Dimma2, and Dimmb2), firmly and completely seated, but I swapped one stick for the other (still using those same two slots) and wham, booted right up!
I have everything set in correctly and plugged in with my first build. Getting the lights of life and fans running but no display, even with changing the cord from HDMI to VGA. The monitor used is often connected to a work laptop by HDMI, so I know it works on that port at least. I changed the slots for my RAM cards and no change in activity. I'm not sure what may be wrong with it and I don't have spare parts to try with it.
Everybody ! I clicked my restart button and everything started showing. Then I made sure my computer screen was plugged into my graphics card rather than my motherboard
Just wanted to thank you for showing the cables behind the tower. I have not put the cable in behind the graphics card. No other video shows the placement ( I thought it went in the top monitor area) being totally new at pc - my first build. Oh and the front panel switches are a pain in the aspect. Clearing the CMOS - remove the battery and wait a few minutes to put it back in. Now the system runs woohoo. Waiting on 2 x 4 GB Corsair Vengance DDR3 Ram cards before I finish the build. Brilliant video btw.
Appreciate the video. I double checked my cables and sure enough, I had plugged my HDMI cable to the motherboards HDMI port and not the Graphic card's HDMI port as I should have done. Double checking the cables seems like idiot's work, but it actually worked, so thank you, Ravi Peiris M.D.
Brooooooo. I’m such a dumbass. I thought my pc was broken. I wasted hours trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Turns out both of my ram sticks weren’t clipped in properly. If I didn’t see ur comment I would have wasted a couple more hours taking apart my pc. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much! My pc stopped showing image. It did turn on but it did not POST. all fans(gpu and case) were at full speed non stop. I tried to get image from cpu with no luck and considered replacing the motherboard. But reseating the RAM and unplugging and plug in back all cables made it work again.
Great video, it helped me a lot! Cleaned out my PC for regular maintenance and wouldn't post after putting everything together, after much trial and error searching for a helpful troubleshooting guides for someone that doesn't have a ton of parts to put in and out, I manage to post after trying one of my two installed ram sticks and it worked, thanks to this video. Again Great video, very concise! Liked & Subcribed!
Thanks mate. I'm running a mining rig and this morning found it on a black screen but powered on. Tried everything I could think of including swapping out the power supply which is a mission on a mining rig with multiple GPUs. One of the first things I tried was moving around the RAM, but what I didnt notice on the first look was that a tiny drop of oil from the GPU suspended above the RAM had dropped directly into the RAM holder and was shorting. Cleaned that out and wiped the RAM card and she booted up perfectly.
A pc keep giving alarming beeps or siren but still work fine. Usually first thing to do is to replace the PC case and install the RAM in different slots, but some RAM stick are the “leader” stick that must be in the slot 1 to make a pc POST as the other sticks of RAM “follower” sticks that couldn’t POST all by itself. It may not be the PSU has fault, but replace the PSU may fix it if all the fans works fine when there was no POST. Replace mobo’s battery too. In many cases no PC parts has fault, it just need to replace the PC case, RAM, PSU, battery with another working PC parts, so after doing all that, you ended up with 2 working PC system and not a single faulty PC part. May need to replace the PC case because some pc case’s back panel is curved outward and need pushed inward to put in the screw to secure the graphic card, so after some years or weeks of use, it pulled things out of place, bow and arrow theory … …

I feel your pain. Just built a PC today, made the mistake of not testing beforehand and it won´t post. Done all the checks, no loose cables, cleared CMOS as I had to update BIOS for new Ryzen CPU. Powers on, fans spin and light up but that´s it. Power button doesn´t turn PC off so I´m thinking PSU or Mobo.
@@cynthiaandoh9575 Yes I did but I can't say for certain what the problem was. I took it all apart and assembled it again outside of the case with the motherboard sitting on the motherboard box. I tried to post without the graphics card as I'd read that it should post without it if only to indicate that it can't recognise the graphics card but again I didn't get a single beep. With the graphics card installed it posted and after reinstalling everything back into the case, it worked fine. I did have an issue with one motherboard standoff where the screw refused to screw into it. With the standoff and the screw in my hand they would happily fit together but with the motherboard between them, they refused to screw together. I resorted to screwing them to the motherboard whilst holding the motherboard and then screwing the standoff to the case when installing the motherboard to the case ... If you know what I mean? Anyway, I can't say for sure that the standoff was the problem as I thought I had secured it the first time but I definitely made a secure connection the second time and this time it posted and everything went smoothly after that. It may not be your problem but I'd double check that the standoffs are all tightly connected to the case and when the motherboard is installed, all the screws are all tightly screwed to the motherboard. Good luck!
@@hotblack1166 I already tried to reset the CMOS and change the CMOS but that didn't work. I rebuilt it and that didn't work, and I already checked if the Ram and CPU were installed correctly. I might see if the case standoffs is the fault. Thanks.
In my case, each time I turned off the power to the PSU, I need to install a different graphic card into the PC to make it POST, then installed the one that failed to POST back into the PC and it would work fine. So I need to repeat this by each time the power is out in my house!

yeah, lets all basicly unplug and replug everything >:( most common problem is prob the bios of the motherboard and there is nothing to do if that is the case but to get it hooked up with hardware that fits the bios firmware then install the right update for the bios for the hardware you wanna use and that should solve the problem..... except that is a freaking hastle huff in it self. best bet, don't go cheap when building a PC and make sure all parts fit each other
Hello, if you build a new pc for first time and if you use ryzen cpu this is for you. A Ryzen processor without the suffix 'G' (in model number) needs a Graphics card (GPU) and you can't output it to screen without one. So for a normal user you'll definitely need a Graphics card not only for BIOS update but for using it too. Ryzen processors* (as mentioned above)comes without integrated graphics card which is needed to display to the monitor.
big tip, when you install windows and get a black screen be patient and dont get tempted to hard crash thinking its stuck, wait as if you dont it can lead to a No Post rig
Guys I know how to fix it. If reseating the ram doesn't work use a screwdriver, make sure the power supply is still plugged in but turn the switch off, press the power button a few times to make sure its off. Hold the screwdriver on the 2 pins sticking out where it says CMOS on the motherboard usually on the lower right or left for 15 seconds then try to turn it back on. I was getting a boot loop for 5 hours tried literally everything re-seating ram, everything.... and this is the only thing that worked.

I went through 7 , yes 7 GPU cards before I got one that worked . RX 490 from AMD was the culprit and I also went through 3 motherboards, also AMD before I got a computer that worked the way it should from a new build in 2018 . Very frustrating to say the least as the quality of new hardware is just garbage across the board . I am very leery to even try to do another build after this last one .
very informative as always, Side note, I should really rotate my shroud on the cooler to make AMD at the top to. haha thanks for the idea p.s.... Enough Lockets :P
Brian, thanks for all the tips.. I’m wondering if you could suggest what I do next? I’ve had the Win10 64 bit PC with Amd 2700Ryzen cpu and high end Graphics card and 16gb ram on 4 sticks running reliably for 2 months since I put in new Ram and the new Graphics card . The problem is I have no HDMI signal from either display port on the graphics card and none on the motherboard’s Display port either. The boot up sequence as viewed from front panel Drive Indicate LEDs looks and sounds Normal the hard drives are spinning up and it looks like the M2 Nvme drive is booting normally, the optical USB mouse led looks normal, I see no activity on the Kybd or more importantly the Ethernet connector LEDs. I looked at the Power Supply voltages with a DMM and they look normal, the RGB leds on the motherboard all cycle thru they’re colors normally but I don’t hear the Beeps I used to hear upon POST. I reseated the graphics card, it’s power connector, the motherboard connector and will soon tear everything apart and try too get it to Display anything as I boot up cause rite now all I get is No HDMI Signal. Any thoughts would be most welcome.. regards JimS An update.. this problem turned out to be corrected by swapping the DDR4 RAM between slots.. .. a long ordeal but it’s now fixed

just fixed my mate's pc with this exact prob: solution was (and is in 75% of problems) CHECK THE POWER CABLE CONNECTOR going into the Graphics Card. Listen for it 'clicking' in - else it isnt in right! Most GPU's in 2019 need 8 pin connectors. But Usually the gpu comes with 6pin + 2 pin connectors: these are awkward to align - and even if it looks like its in - if the 2 or 6pin bit isnt in 100% correctly, the mobo aint gonna register the gpu. Listen for the click!

So... I'm building my first PC. I got everything installed. Everything fits like a glove. All components and cables are seated correctly. Power turns on. Fans spin. Light on the motherboard is lit up. LEDs on the front panel are lit up. My keyboard and mouse are also both lit up. But... There is still no display. Like I said, I'm new to this. First PC build. Yada yada... Idk what to do. I have it connected to two seperate video sources in hopes that one will work. One is via HDMI to my TV and one is via the (white ended) cable for a monitor.

Everything was running so well before this, and it still starts perfectly, just no post on monitor or keyboard LEDs, mouse, etc. I think I ruined my board over the dumbest mistake
Thank you, after an hour or two i finally found the culprit. The cpu power cable who was hiding underneath the motherboard. Funnily enough it was the exact same issue when i assembled last time. Slow learner.
Alright bois here's my problem that I solved. I have a 220v outlet, two of them, before I plugged in the pc, I had a really old hitachi heater, needing 110v (I had to use a transformer for this) it was plugged in before the pc. It took me 3 hours diagnosing every little problem, the only problem was that the PC and the AIR PURIFIER were FIGHTING FOR MORE VOLTS. So theres that, fixed my own problem, might not be that applicable for others, but maybe others will have the same situation. Moral of the lesson, also make sure that the PC is the only one plugged in. ^_^
Hi Brian, I have a problem starting up one of my two monitors which occurred after using a replacement for my primary monitor. When I restart my system (after it started up) this problem doesn't occur. Any thoughts?
My pc did post and worked completely fine but there was a power outage and after it was resolved despite all rgb and fans working theres no output via display port or hdmi when plugged into the monitor. Any suggestions?

Clearing the CMOS - remove the battery and wait a few minutes to put it back in. Now the system runs woohoo. Waiting on 2 x 4 GB Corsair Vengance DDR3 Ram cards before I finish the build. Brilliant video btw.
Appreciate the video. I double checked my cables and sure enough, I had plugged my HDMI cable to the motherboards HDMI port and not the Graphic card's HDMI port as I should have done. Double checking the cables seems like idiot's work, but it actually worked, so thank you,

@@hotblack1166 Did you fix it?
Thanks.
Mine seems to do it intermittently after doing something in BIOS, hardisk lights still flash etc.
mine too, tried to overclock my ram and then it just shut off, have you found a solution?
Thanks to the comment section, all I did was pull out the ram, wipe and drop it back in the slot.
Can't believe it was that simple
In my case, each time I turned off the power to the PSU, I need to install a different graphic card into the PC to make it POST, then installed the one that failed to POST back into the PC and it would work fine. So I need to repeat this by each time the power is out in my house!

How did you fix if
what did u do?
yeah, lets all basicly unplug and replug everything >:( most common problem is prob the bios of the motherboard and there is nothing to do if that is the case but to get it hooked up with hardware that fits the bios firmware then install the right update for the bios for the hardware you wanna use and that should solve the problem..... except that is a freaking hastle huff in it self.
best bet, don't go cheap when building a PC and make sure all parts fit each other
How do you avoid this issue
Hello, if you build a new pc for first time and if you use ryzen cpu this is for you. A Ryzen processor without the suffix 'G' (in model number) needs a Graphics card (GPU) and you can't output it to screen without one. So for a normal user you'll definitely need a Graphics card not only for BIOS update but for using it too.
Ryzen processors* (as mentioned above)comes without integrated graphics card which is needed to display to the monitor.
Make sure your monitor is set to the display cable you are using
lol thanks dude, just canged ant now its good😂❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
big tip, when you install windows and get a black screen be patient and dont get tempted to hard crash thinking its stuck, wait as if you dont it can lead to a No Post rig
There is always the possibility that your brand new parts are faulty. In my case the brand new motherboard was defect and the cause.

Very frustrating to say the least as the quality of new hardware is just garbage across the board . I am very leery to even try to do another build after this last one .

Any thoughts would be most welcome.. regards JimS
An update.. this problem turned out to be corrected by swapping the DDR4 RAM between slots.. .. a long ordeal but it’s now fixed

@@king__1anzee977 it resolved from gigabyte brother main chipset was damaged thank you 🙂
just fixed my mate's pc with this exact prob: solution was (and is in 75% of problems) CHECK THE POWER CABLE CONNECTOR going into the Graphics Card.
Listen for the click!
loose cables are very common and with it a little out it can cause the system to do wired stuff
If the fans spin does it mean that it is properly fitted in?

I’ve tried the following:
- Performed hard reset / static discharge, disconnected and checked cmos battery (3v on multimeter)
- Replaced RAM, msata, screen with known working
- Tried booting while holding down ESC, D, FN keys
- Tried HDMI output (no output)
I’d really appreciate any other suggestions / tips, could it be a corrupt bios? Thanks in advance
