@@doneleazarfernandez1277 your pc should be fine if you have an 80+ certified psu, usually when that happens the psu takes a lot of pressure specially if your avr is not that reliable. Anyway a good psu will save other pc components, so if you try powering your pc right now and you see lights blinking or fans running half way before it turns off, that is a sign that your psu is dead but if you see lights are on and fans are running normal, that is a ram issue. Re-seat those rams again and make sure they are seated correctly. You should hear a click lock when you seat those rams in the ram slots

I've been in IT and repairing computers for over 2 decades and I've never come across this trick. Thank you! Interestingly, my issue was actually with the video card so after rubbing the contacts of each memory stick and not having success I pulled out the graphics card and did the same. I cannot say for certain that is was the cleaning of the graphics card contacts and not just reseating it, but regardless of the physical reason popping it out and clearning it did the trick!

I am no expert but I think the black residue is due to this:
Electricity tends to make metals oxidate. For iron, the oxidation is called rust. Gold is used for the contacts because it cannot oxidate. However, this is probably not 100% pure gold used, but rather some mixture with some other metal which can oxidate over time and the connector will not work anymore.

A sincere thank you for your video tips. My son's computer just suddenly stopped sending a signal to his monitor. Being autistic, he was really upset. Thanks for suggesting removing and cleaning the Ram. This got his machine back up and running again. Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much. I thought I was gonna break down because my PC won't start even after cleaning my ram (with only a brush). But then I tried your method of using an eraser to clean the contact plate. It worked. Thank you so much.
