  • To troubleshoot a motherboard when a computer doesn't turn on or it turns on but no display on the monitor is the most difficult troubleshoot step in a computer. A dead or faulty motherboard will not POST, even with led light on and fa spinning.

So you thing I should of more of these, they are easier to do as they require no editing, but usually involves a camera person which i don't have and the topic must be something i am very comfortable with that I can do off the top of my head without planning, scripting, or rehearsing...sounds challenging...!

@@HealMyTech1 yes. Thats how i do my videos. (See the sandi91361 channel).
I believe and I've heard it said that people value genuine transfer people who are real and humble. Normal day-to-day people like me and you don't have time to edit videos and the things we have to say do need to get out there. I bought three mini tripod from China I think four about 4 USD each. They hold my phone well. Prior to that i would prop the phone/camera against something and it frequently fell. But better then nothing right? Rarely do i have camera ppl to hold the camera. And when u need to change tbe view to point to something else, just say excuse me please while i switch tbe camera. this also adds a bit of adventure. And can help the viewers to feel more involved. You get better at it with time. And u learn to plan a bit before u start filming as to logistics (where and how).

Also its good if something does go wrong so u can demonstrate ur train of thought and how to troubleshoot. If u dont know tbe answer to an unexpected problem, tell ur audience just that (the truth) . And tell them how a person moght find the answer to tnis later.

Try an older video card, with lower specs. The tech manual for the motherboard SHOULD tell you both the type of Ram, ram settings and jumper pins for the CPU and/or video card. Make sure the CMOS has the CPU, memory and correct video card settings; otherwise it will NOT start up properly.

It's a simple button that exists in any Desktop Computer.
It's a wire attached to the motherboard and goes all the way to the front of the PC (Or the top) and is connected to a button that powers on the PC.
The Power On switch has this inside it. It's in every Desktop Computer.

Hello, I have a HP Formosa motherboard and an i5 LGA 1155 CPU. I encountered the no display issue after I cleaned the computer dust on the CPU heat sink, CPU Fan and the chasis fan. I have been troubleshooting this for about 5 days with no luck. I replaced a working GPU, no display. I removed the GPU entirely to see if I get any beeps, none... I do get 5 short beeps when I remove the RAM. Can i assume that the MB is fine here? No external devices are attached at this time, including kb, mouse, gpu, usb, DVD, or HD. If I replace them back, no beeps or no display.
Can you please help me what would be my next step?

You should probably try to reset the bios( hard reset), short the two jumper pins for the CMOS with a screwdriver for at least 15 seconds, that should reset your bios. You don't really need to give any power to the motherboard, the charge from the battery should help. Hopefully it helps you

My pc is totally dead but originally, I got 5 beeps when starting up (asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0), but after two or three times it died completely. Rock Roll yeah I sent my mobo back in return for a new one so I’m waiting for that.. I believe that the board I had is just messed up. I mean everything powered on and what not and I trouble shooted it. My cpu is perfect and my graphics card is working. I even took the graphics card off and booted it but still yellow flashing. My ram is confirmed that it’s compatible with my mobo so it has to be a faulty mobo.. I ordered a speaker for the mobo just Incase, let you know the update in the next week or so though

So the problem normally is mobo or proccessor?
I also notices, 2 pin cpu connector was bend.

I got my old desktop pc up and running again after being in a cupboard in bits for a few years. It was difficult getting it working but I managed and it was running great. The case was damaged so I bought a new one and swapped all the parts into it but it wouldn’t POST. I tried all your suggestions but nothing works so I swapped everything back to the old case and it still won’t POST. I’m at a loss now. Do you think the motherboard has broken in the swap over?

I haven’t received my cpu, or gpu yet, but I decided to put together the rest of my build anyways to see if everything else work. When I hit the power button nothing happened, no fans turned on, nor did the front panel LED. Ugh, it’s my first build too. I’m hoping it’s just a faulty power supply.
Do you think some flex in the mobo while plugging in power due to missing standoffs could have damaged it?

    • @apex9806
      @apex9806 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its possible but unlikely.
Probably the computer didn't detect a processor and refused to even post. If there is a led light on the board then check fr that.

Have you tried removing the Cmos-battery to reset the BIOS or replacing it with a new one? If that doesn't work then it should be PCIe port on the motherboard that is faulty.

  • @michaelcole7745

So how do you trouble shoot a brand new motherboard that isn't getting any power? I tested the power supply and used the jumper to test it already, but when I plug in the power to the mother board and the CPU there is no power going into the motherboard. I have a motherboard with a built in VGA card and have RAM in it but there is no power going through the power supply. This tells me that the motherboard could have a pin problem with the connector because the power supply would at least turn on with a load right? How do I test my pins on the motherboard or should I just return it back to newegg and get another one?

Is it possible for the board to die soon after installation? Just finished my 1st build and it was working perfect but the day right after, I wouldn't get any signal to the monitor, no post or anything. My dram led lights up but I don't think it's the ram, I tried my other ram sticks and they also wouldn't work which I knew worked on my other computer. I also reseted the cmos but same result. And like I said, it was working perfect the day I installed windows so I'm just really confused and getting real frustrated. Any help would be appreciated
