    We just did a massive suspension upgrade on our Project Volvo V70R by adding Elevate lowering springs, Elevate sway bars, and brand new OEM struts from FCP Euro. The difference makes our dadwagon feel like a sports car. Come along for my first drive in it after the changes!

    I grew up with my parents driving a Volvo V70R, never broke down, made a hum like a sports car when it turned on, I never really realized how special that car was until now.

    The V70R is one of my two dream cars (the other being the E46 M3) that I have yet to acquire. I have the Volvo 850 T-5R and the 850R already and watching your videos is making me itch for a V70R. Great videos! I'm here to stay as long as there is a Volvo in it! :)

    You guys need to get an 8Eight Fab 3in downpipe. I got one about a year ago, and it's been amazing - the sound is fantastic, really wakes up the car throughout the rev range, and the piece was extremely well put together. Joshua does a fantastic job, and there's currently a discount partnership between him and Robert Hilton Tuning, which you also need to do - next on my list for my 04 VR M66.

    The V70n R really is like a Swedish R34 GTR, in my opinion.
    But even the normal non R V70n feels nice to drive, they feel predictable.
    The 5 speed manual gearbox, it made a newer 6 speed Volkswagen gearbox (manual) feel cheap.
    And the 5 cylinder engine it sound so nice.
    Note: this is my opinion.

    hey the modes also change the throttle response, brakes (no nose drive or body roll in ADVANCE mode) vvt (straight pipe I can hear a exhaust different) . So from a dead start COMFORT is to me soft semi delayed, SPORT is a sharper response while ADVANCE is instant/very touchy immediate response.

    • @ShiftingLanes
      @ShiftingLanes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Yes I noticed a marked difference in throttle response when in Advanced mode compared to the others. When the 4C system was broken, there was a noticeable lag in the throttle when pulling away from a full stop. Now, completely different. Loving this thing even more now!
      -Gregson

    • @ELEVATEVOLVO
      @ELEVATEVOLVO 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mostly true, and excellent to point out. Throttle mapping in Comfort and Sport are the same, Advanced gets more aggressive mapping.

    FYI - I had the same droop in my bumper. I heated that part uniformly with a heatgun, bent it beyond where it needed to go, then taped it like that (gave it a second to cool before taping). Removed the tape about an hour later and it held and looks perfect. Be sure it push it farther then level because it will droop a little after removing tape.

    If your front headlights suck then one or more of your ballasts is broken, they're brighter than most LED housed lights in brand new cars. Also might wanna look into the prive of a replacememt housing before you go there, refurbished go for $600+ and new over $1000.

    • @ShiftingLanes
      @ShiftingLanes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Headlights aren't stuck, persay. They're just weak and they have 2 different bulbs. I'm not a fan of the headlights on this car at all and I'd like to upgrade them with a full retrofit of something a bit nicer/more modern/better/cooler looking. In due time. The fog replacements was a life changing upgrade for night time driving. Soooooo much better visibility now.

    Be careful with the lowering and snow. We had a 2006 V70R in Randolph, snow will get packed between the driveshaft and the tunnel making the car sequels like a banshee. Took the car to both Smythe and Prestige, both said it was a known issue and the "fix" didn't really do anything. So if you hear an obnoxious sound while driving in the snow, that's it.

    Hey guys nice to see that "the Grey Wagon" is comming along nicely.As said struts(you could have gotten KW variant2,coils),swaybars,etc really change the car.Those parts were tired.As for wheel options,i have a few(had pegs 18" under the 855R)
    -Portunus
    -Odysseus(under mine,V70T6 now, 19")
    -And for the sporty light wheel option well if you go Volvo there's only 1,imo,go for the Polestars,if you can get them.
    Keep up the great work guys,loving the video's,gr,walter

      I think we paid like $1500 for it, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I believe there was a slight discount. Tavarish has one, but he has a 4-post so it's not really necessary for him. 21" of clearance though with the QJ. Worth it in my opinion and a good budge option.

    I think you changed to many parts at once to know what made the biggest difference, but my money is on the sensor that fixed the 4C system,though all were likely helpful. I hope in future videos you will show more of the repairs being performed, maybe not a tutorial but at least a few shots of the job in progress. The struts are EXPENSIVE. And you can't get them from just anywhere

    I think it was kinda funny to hear you say that the headlights sucked, because the headlights on my V70R make it look like I'm driving with a collapsed sun on the front of my car :D I have people flash their high beams at me at night all the time which is kinda annoying, but still I can see everything in front of me within 1/4 mile (I live far out in the country). As far as I know the headlights, or none of the lights on the car have been replaced or upgraded but I may be wrong because the headlights at least are extremely effective.

    • @MicahS70T5M
      @MicahS70T5M 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You probably need/needed to re-aim your headlights. Even if no one has touched them, a lot of cars come with them aimed improperly from the factory. You probably are blinding people.

    I've already been asked what coilovers I've got on my V70R and it's completely stock. I scrape on stuff everywhere I can't believe you actually lowered it. What's the ground clearance like 2-3 inches?

    • @ShiftingLanes
      @ShiftingLanes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly it's not bad at all. I've never scraped once other than getting it in my driveway when the bumper was droopy. My WRX also scrapes as I have a steep driveway. After the bumper was fixed, no scraping even with the lower ride height. I think it's at 3.5"-4" now.

    @shiftinglanes you have to get the aftermarket led lights for the front headlights and you will notice the difference driving! Plus they have the projection lights which move with the the steering wheel sensory! Best of luck I have a 2005 Volvo V70 2.5t with ARD tune and I'm making 415 awhp 345-375ft/lbs with the lpt 18t at 19psi max and I have all of the v70r options including the 4c system and have done some work to it! Check out swedespeed.com I have sr1 ESR gold rims and s60R front bumper with performance lip and turbo/ brake tunneling through the fog lights.... with 450cfm electronic fans and have 195,000mi.
