    Story :-
As a 32-year-old man, I have always held a special place in my heart for my dad, who is now 60. My mom, who was a kind soul, passed away years ago and I still miss her presence every day. I often pray to have her kind spirit as I remember how brightly it shone around those she was with. My dad, however, didn't seem to struggle as much with my mom's death and moved on to a new relationship just months after her passing. This caused me anger and I eventually decided to move out and start my own life. My younger brother also moved out and we both created a life without relying on our dad. Despite this, we still respected him and he would call us during special events.
I have only had three girlfriends and none of them have met my dad. Our relationship has been distant but not hostile. My step sister, however, often answered my calls to my dad and would lie about his availability, which got on my nerves. I eventually stopped calling and my dad noticed, leading to a conversation about my step sister's behavior. After speaking with my dad, he banned her from answering his calls. However, she still managed to get my phone number and cursed me out. I hung up and she couldn't do anything about it.

Hey Mr. Reddito. I love hearing your stories and regularly watch them. I am a subscriber and like them when I watch them. This story was a great one and OP was definitely NTA. I can kind of relate to it as I've encountered a situation in my own life not too dissimilar. It didn't involve the death of a family member, but it did involve step children. I've been married 3 times, and the third one I thought was going to be the one that would last. Unfortunately, I was sadly mistaken. My ex-wife has two daughters. As it turned out the oldest one ended up in jail with felony charges, her own doing not related to the marriage, and the youngest eventually caused the end of the marriage. That came about because she was upset that her mother and I got together and she wanted her mother and her father to reconcile and get back together. My ex-wife said that would never happen because he was abusive, and treated her and her youngest like crap. As a result, the step-daughter didn't like me. She was just as abusive with me as her dad was with her mother, and I didn't tolerate it. At one point right after she turned 21 we got into an argument and I kicked her out and told her to go live with her father. My ex was not happy with it, but she did accept it. At one point before that happened, we caught her stealing money from her mothers purse, and from a debit card. I put the fear of god into her when I was able to track the credit card purchase to her, and told her that I kept her out of jail for identity theft. I told her that the bank was going to turn her in, but I talked them out of it and just cancelled the purchase. The bank wasn't going to do anything, but my little lie scared her. Later on, she went out and got pregnant and when she had her baby, my ex invited her to stay at our house until she could find a place of her own. I tended to avoid being around her because I knew there would be a conflict, but my ex pushed me into joining them in a communal situation that as expected ended up in her making derogative comments on anything I said and me telling her to shut the hell up. I got up and left the room to cool down and before I could, she came into the room I was and wanted to talk. I refused and told her to leave. Being a stubborn brat, she got nasty with me. She ended up with a small scratch on her arm from me trying to push the door closed in her face. The door had a rough nail hole that scratched her, and she accused me of hitting her. I finally was able to get out of the room and left the house through a back entrance. I got in my car and went for a long drive to cool down. I received a call from a local police officer and it turned out that she reported me for assault. I received a ticket and had to go to court to answer the charges. My ex kicked me out of the house and filed divorce papers within a day or two of the disagreement, She recanted the charges, and I had to pay court charges, but got off without a hearing. Within 7 months the divorce was finalized and I was living in a different city. It still cost me a lot of money as it turned out that my ex had spent both hers and my money that was in a joint checking account to the point that it was several thousand dollars in the hole. Since the primary on the account was me, I had to repay the money. I had a second account with the same bank and they took virtually everything from it to pay for the joint account deficit. I had to take out a loan to pay it off. Prior to our marriage, I had been totally debt free. I've since had no contact with any of her family. Another little bit of information, my ex's two sisters also didn't like me on first sight. They felt I wasn't good enough for her. Honestly speaking, I'm glad that it's all over and I'm retired now and live several states away and have no contact with any of them. I'm relatively happy now. Thanks for your stories, and keep putting them up. I'll keep watching them.

Terry, I'm needing to get with you as I need some help filling out financial aid stuff with the State to get on Medicaid for extra help with financial assistance, and then talk to Unity Points Financial adviser as I can't remember some things from one day to the next, I need glasses but even more importantly I need dental work and I have all of these things through my medical insurance company, but I have to get on Medicaid to qualify for extra help and better benefits, which I am eligible for but need help remembering and filling out forms that the state keeps sending me over and over again and it's to the point that I can't even think, as I'm in so much pain because of my teeth being so broken from that motorcycle accident a few years ago that fractured all of the teeth in my mouth and I was spitting out pieces of teeth everywhere right after the accident, and I had a couple of bad teeth already that had popped the caps off of and fillings out of, but especially since falling and hitting the toilet a few weeks ago and then had Jim take me to the emergency room and got x-rays of my pelvis and head and neck, which turned out that nothing was broken, but my tailbone was bruised severely from hitting the front of the toilet, but like I said before I need some help as I can't even concentrate or remember to finish filling out some of the applications, forms etc., and then I missed a telephone interview and conference a couple of weeks ago as that was when my phone on the fritz from someone hacking into it, but I severely need HELP! And my feet and legs are swelled up like puff balls and can barely walk and then I hate trying to communicate by text and phone!

Sometimes I think my Uncle should have pursued charges against family. His ex-wife and a cousin with POA emptied $250K from his bank account, hid it, and then divorced him. She wanted the house, all the cars, alimony, and child support for kids from a past marriage. The judge was flabbergasted. She got the house, the house payment, 2 cars (not all of them), and that's it. No alimony, no child support. She had to sell the house, because her "part time job" of going on shopping sprees didn't hold her over long enough, and the money dried up faster than she thought. Didn't even take her a year to go through it. On junk. JUNK.

Or a man will out run grief and heart ache and depression by filling that gap with another woman. Usually always ends badly when they do that. They take the first woman that comes along. And their usually always not a good woman. Their gold diggers pretending.. always a bad idea. They’re out running something they need to go through.. they need time and they refuse to give it. grief after a loss of a wife is something they have to feel. But a man will run from it trying to avoid it. It has to come. They must feel it, to get better..some men don’t do grief after loss of a wife well. 😢

I think "Lana" was just her mom's mouthpeice. Stepmom was cold from the beginning...a golddigger who preyed in a grieving man, then cutting him off from his own children in favor of her's. If "Lana" was not carrying out mom's express wishes, she was just acting as she had been taught by her good ole mom, if you question that just see how fast her own mom pushed her to the curb for the sake of her own image. I think the only member of the stepfamily that might not be a total AH is the stepsister who got almost no mention other than she lived off op dad's money and would not get a job. So the real villan, I think, was stepmom. She thought she had found herself a walk ATM, not knowing her meal ticket all but disappered with his death, her daughter was just following in her mother's path...God help the next family that falls prey the OP's former stepfamily

Half of that going towards her rent for her apartment while she spends the money she got selling her house on who knows what. She does have a gambling problem so probably that.

Story 1, NTA. The fact that the stepbrat even lied that op's dad wasn't there when he was, was a red flag. I wouldn't be surprised if she lied to op's dad about the phone call. The fact that she even got mad at op for telling his dad what she was doing shows that she was trying to create a bigger rift between op and his dad and is now mad that she can no longer do so. She definitely called to tell Op off and possibly threaten op to keep away. Not surprised that she got mad when op immediately hung up on her and she didn't get her chance to keep op away. If the stepmom acted like that to op then I can see why her vile daughter thinks it's okay to try to get rid of op. Also, she's probably one of those stepmoms that believe only HER children matter and not her husband's kids. She's not happy about it because it meant competition for attention and money. Op, she's trying to shove it in your face to say that she thinks she's his rightful child to the money and not you. It's not just their mentality it's because their greedy aholes who want it all to themselves. Op, people like them want free money, be lazy and not work for it. Now that their mom married a rich man they think their entitled to everything. I'm not surprised that they show no concern for him because all they want is the money and their actions show that. Op is definitely right to say that their only "caring" now because they don't want to lose "their money". Not surprised that once op's dad was gone they immediately think their get everything and can get rid of op and his brother like they've wanted. They wanted to make it seem like they were the only family op's dad had. Not surprised that the vile entitled aholes refused op's mom's side of the family to come to the funeral. Of course they wouldn't have because in their minds they think if your not there they get everything. Hahah, looks like joke was already on the evil vile step family if the lawyer already knew how they were. Not surprised that vile stepmom screamed and threw a tantrum once hearing that she didn't get everything like she thought she would. I figured that's why all of a sudden she acted nice to op. Just so she can have op's money. Good on op for tell her hell no straight to her face. Wow, instead of trying to get op's favor she should put that energy into getting a JOB and make her own money. Of course vile stepmom thought she could threaten to bully op to give her the house which was real stupid on her part. Good on op for doing a better threat that vile stepmom knew she couldn't win against. Why am I not surprised that Lana broke into the house to steal what she thought was rightfully hers after op refused her. Lana deserved EVERYTHING that happened after everyone saw the video. Heck, op saved an innocent man by showing him how vile, evil, and entitled that witch is.

This story triggered a lot of emotions for me. I am disable and live several states from my parents and my sister along with her kids. My dad had a stroke a year after I was diagnosed with 2 brain tumors. There were a lot of drama and bitterness cause I couldn't go be with my family when he got sick. I was in the process of getting medical attention to my own issues. Fast forward to 2022, I father went down hill and was placed in Hospice then died. This was during the time when covid was really bad as well. My sister informed me that she didn't want me around her, her children and my parents since we had different views on vaccine for covid. She stated that she discussed with my mother and she agree. To say the least, I was keep from seeing my father before he died because I was not vaccinated. Even tho I was advised at the time by Neurosurgeon to hold off of experimental drugs due to my brain tumors. My family still doesn't understand. Yet, they let friends visit who were unvaccinated or still under the doctor's care for covid. That was hurtful. Honestly, I don't even know if I will ever see my mom face to face again. Breaks my heart. There has been a lot of hurt done by all parties including me. (I am not proud of my part but I own my part.)

Despite mom's efforts and adoration of her dad, mom's mom and mom's siblings refused to contact her and let her know once het dad passed away. To add insult to injury, despite my calls and cards sent to please let us know about services, someone finally contacted me after the service had already happened! I was in the exclusion because they knew I'd never agree to excluding mom from her own father's funeral. What they did in my opinion is so beyond unforgivable. There's no inheritance to fight over just both wanted to come like any family member would want to and participate and be a part of the family in a part of the grieving process. we were both denied that because my mom's mom gets off on acting like a freaking bully and is always looking for someone to take a crap on.

Step mom wouldn't tell me dad was in the hospital any of the times he was there so I would drive there on the way to his house before going home. Wouldn't tell me when he was dying and even his old boss got to say goodbye (my hubby was very ill and in the hospital a lot so I couldn't visit every day). I had to ask when the funeral was and showed up. Her family got our home, possessions and even my belongings because she was a hoarder and wouldn't give me my things. I waited for her to die so I could ask her daughter for my stuff. I was told no so it runs in the family I guess. Step mom was the greediest person I have ever met and that is saying something since I have met quite a few. If dad came to visit and she happened to be with him she would be trying to drag him out of the house by his arm while he was talking. We would laugh and I would tell myself she couldn't change the fact that he had 2 daughters but my dad was an idiot and she was a master manipulator.

Mid funeral open casket of a man in mid 60s and the place was packed with about 80 chairs in room! He sat up! ! Yes you heard me right! HE SAT UP !! not only that he turned his head just a little to the audience! Luckily Mr Reavy just always sews mouth and eyes shut! Man the whole front row fainted all over the floor and two of them their bowels let go! Then Mr Reavy arrived from a side door and pushed the corpse back flat and pulling a coil of wire from back pocket worked inside the casket ! We had to call ambulances for four people and it was quite a circus to clean up after transferred to another room!

He was not supposed to open this letter until after her death. In her letter that was opened after her death...she wanted him to remarry...but she wanted it to be at least 6 months after her passing. Both are stil alive and in their early 90's. No one in the family resented his remarrying because she pre-approved it.

    • @apersonontheinternet8006
      @apersonontheinternet8006 ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve had a letter that states the same for my wife and a second one for the man that she may find. According to OSHA, my occupation is the most dangerous by a long shot and I’ve had many close calls over the years.
I want my wife to remarry, and I want her husband to be the man of the house just as I have been. My kids or wife ever tell him he isn’t the real dad he has my permission to slap a MF (except my wife) and read my own words.
My biggest priority is him filling the hole in her heart and continuing to raise my boys to become men.
He isn’t picking up my saved game, the old hero died and it’s time for a new hero to take the torch in the sequel. You aren’t saving her, I bought and paid for the house, got her her degrees, and have her setup to buy a business from a friend of mine nearing retirement. My boys are old enough that the foundation is set, they simply need a man to keep them from straying from the path. My best friend growing up and god father of my kids is a surgeon and the few times we’ve talked about it he has always said he has no problems busting out some cash to look after the kids education or whatever. Hell, before he got married I told my wife to hit him or any of my friends up but now they are all married so unless their wives are down for some concubines it probably won’t work, lol.
My wife could not be more awesome and I don’t want her joy to die with me. I didn’t build all of this so she could die alone and miserable, she is barely in her 30’s while I’m in my mid-30’s so if I were to die this year she is looking at easily 50+ years by herself.
I doubt I’d ever remarry if the shoe was on the other foot. Might find an older widowed lady and work out some kind of companionship thing or find a lady of the night from time to time. My wife has been the only woman in my life who let me dance to my own tune and believed in me when everyone thought I was crazy. I’ll be just fine but I worry about her.

Lana showed her true colors too many times. She cut OP from the funeral because she thought somehow that would get him an IN into the inheritance. Or maybe she thought if she pushed back enough he would never see the money even if he was included in the will because he'd be gone. She tried soo hard to be rid of him, and laughed in his face so many times because she thought he was beneath her. Only to become super nice when the realization dawned on her that the very person she had been rude and nasty to all her life now has nearly all of her stepdad's fortune. She lost it at that point. Probably realized how much she effed up and proceeded to go into nice girl mode to try and win over OP's favor but the damage was done.
The moment she broke into the house is when she absolutely crossed the line. After sharing that info online I still would have brought her to the police. made her return the items and charged her with grand theft. It would have sent the same message. Her friends would realize she had a record now, her fiance would see that she is a thief, and the outcome would have been the same.

Ok I'm questioning this story. once more it's written in a way that makes it look like a drama film. Like when OP and his brother arrive at the funeral venue they said they were shocked to see what they saw....yet they didn't list it and we had to find out what it was in the update. Also if OP wanted to see his father and help him why not just go down there and visit him? What was stopping him from just going to visit? Also if OP and his brother weren't allowed to attend the funeral why would the step mother even tell him where it was being held? Also, how old was the step sister? OP never said, and why is it that she seems to be the whole mastermind behind this? Also while at the funeral why didn't OP call his dad's side of the family? OP never mentioned anything about them, he should have at least had someone from his dad's side that would know him. Yet all we heard is that his mom's side of the family wasn't allowed in.
Also if the best friend was there, then why wouldn't he have called OP asking where he was? OP mentioned they haven't talked for a while, so it would be assumed they had one another's numbers. Also how was the best friend allowed? Obviously if they knew he and OP were friends the step sister would have barred him from it. Also at the will reading, only OP got something yet his brother got nothing? That is kind of odd. Also again with the second to final update, OP just ends it there by telling step sister that she isn't getting a cent. No saying what her reaction was or the like. Almost like they are trying to instill hype or drama first. Again how old was the step sister? It made it seem like she was a teen, but in the end it shows she's grown up and engaged. It all didn't make sense at all, so i'm questioning this story big time.
Also if OP wanted to reconnect with his father so much near the end why not just do it and not worry what his step family did?

there are plenty of full grown ass adults that act like children still or that they are still in high school..... and as to why he didnt go see his dad.....well this is speculation based on my own experiences but i have a feeling it wouldnt be just his dad there, so the SD and SM would and probably have made trying to visit his dad real unpleasant. couple that with all the emotions surround it....well it can be really hard to get past that...

This whole story is weak pops was a grown man an so was the son. He should have acted like one instead if trying to turn the stepfamily into villains. Just pathetic..

Anyone who loses a beloved parent has to realize that there is never a right time for the surviving parent to remarry. It is unfair to judge a lonely, grieving, heartsick widower for wanting not to be alone during whatever time he may have left.

Lana was a beast. The step-mother was for: 1. Her remarks to the S-SIL when he called to ask to help pay for the funeral, 2. Not recognizing that her husband’s son would not be feeling real grief over the loss of his dad, and 3.Not reigning in Lana and ending her reign of terror.

That's a good man, that's a solid marriage. OP best know she SCORED with this guy. And damn, what hilarious comeuppance!

Something that didn't really make sense to me was when the OP said he didn't talk with his father, in fact he didn't even tell him he got his masters degree. But then in the very next sentence OP said that he still respected his father and would talk to him on the phone for important events. That's kind of a contradiction there.

I don’t know how true the first story is. Sounds like someone posted a fake story on Reddit. Step family just feels overly aggressive and antagonist. Almost like characters of bad people. Plus, you’re going to tell me his father left 80% of his estate to him and left the other 20% to be split with his new wife, step kids, and his son’s best friend but left nothing to his younger son? Then the younger son is just cool with getting left out of the will? Nah.

Obviously you have no knowledge of how other cultures work. In many cultures, the oldest (usually son) inherits everything. The son will then take care of the family.

That step mother makes Lady Tremaine look like a saint. And the daughter. Glad the father did see that and give OP the majority of his estate to look after.

Often people who were very happy in their marriage remarry quickly because they want that again.

I disagree, I've been married 41 years, no woman could replace my wife. And, I will protect the life money we saved for my own children and grandchildren, not that of outsider's.
