I'll say it again.. Tuomas will go down as one of this generations greatest lyricists and composers. Enough said!! As always listen, appreciate, and enjoy!! God Bless!!!
Composers, yes, I wouldn't disagree with that. Lyricists? I doubt it. He comes up with some great lines but equally there is some pretentious nonsense in there, too. "The sea lady, snow, glass, apples . It is stories that built cathedrals" Pardon?
Shoemaker was not the only guy not burried on Earth because there were people "burried" in space like Gene Roddenberry, for example. But he is the only person that's burried on another celestial body. :) And omg this song, can't wait for the live concert in May. I want to experience this live finally, at least virtual live.
Greetings from Finland & thanks for this reaction to yet another masterpiece by Nightwish. In a recent Q&A Floor told that while every other song on this new album was relatively easy for her to sing, but the operatic part of this song took several takes, and she was only able to get it the way Tuomas & she liked by doing the vocals at home with the choir also added into the mix.
The only problem I have with Nightwish is its impossible to work to as I’m always rocking out, singing along & getting rippling floorgasms I never get any work done 🤣🤘... Loving your review reactions and your zany thoughts. It’s great to what this journey into music and sharing it with us all. Much love, peace & respect. Stay safe🤘
I can't put some of their songs on my playlist as I listen music when I am driving. It is pretty darn difficult to drive when you are weeping your eyes out.
You have just given the best reaction to Nightwish in my opinion....."Nightwish is an experience". Each & every song tells a story that has you glued to your seat in amazement! I love watching your reactions to them!
Cualquier trabajo de nightwish te deja con la boca abierta y con los pelos de punta, y Floor es impresionante como puede utilizar su voz de múltiples formas. Un saludo desde Burgos (España). Muy buen vídeo, sigue así.
Metal Mozart is the perfect descriptor. I hate having to wait so long for a new album (even though their past albums still seem fresh), but it’s so worth the wait! 🤘🏻 I honestly feel kinda bad for people who never get to hear them or who can’t see or feel the magnificence of Nightwish pieces. The music puts you in a state of being that is apart from any other band. Different dimensions is right. 😂 I live in one permanently because of Nightwish! 🥰🎶🤘🏻 Also, Shoemaker 🌔 was the dude who discovered the comet that plunged into Jupiter, giving astronomers a chance to see something never witnessed by human eyes before. I believe the comet was called Shoemaker-Levy 9 (?) The pictures the scientists got were astonishing. ☄️💥
Really enjoyed your reaction. You're probably right, one day Tuomas is going to compose something that will send us all into another realm of existence. But what a trip it will be lol.
Every time i listen to this song, i get on this journey, with Shoemaker, and hes fantastic story, and its a good story, quite poetic to, so i get the story, and the beauty.. truely a great song, and a good thing that Tuomas do read a lot of books..lol Laudato Si Ad astra Means Prasise be you, to the stars
You should check out Guylain Prince’s analyses (search his name on TH-cam). He is a Franciscan monk and he says the Laudato Si is referring to a famous poem by the founder of his order, St. Francis of Assisi. It also is referenced heavily in a document by Pope Francis from 2015, about the care of “our common home”.

The Ad Astra/ Shoemaker tie-in is absolutely marvelous. I havent listened to them back to back yet, but now I absolutely have to. They're both SO GOOD.
You're describing it to the point in the end. I've seriously been wondering how Tuomas is going to top this, i can't imagine being so blown away by an album another time. Great reaction!
Here in Brazil this song was a shock, because we have a very large audience about the Nightwish community and we heard about the song "Shoemaker" because there was a preview by Tuomas to honor a scientist in one of his songs and it was "Eugene Shoemaker".
They are not just creating music like others... They are destroying you emotionally through your ears. This band is on godlike level now with Floor and Troy and you can hear that with them Tuomas has the power again to create music like noone else can.
Toummas is a very inspired genius!! Is like midas king, And all the members are great artists, Floor is a godess with the most beatiful, angelical and powerful voice, just perfect!!!
How it is possible: a good story in history, a bit of pipes (Floor’s and Thor’s) and a touch of Tuomas and Kai, and the strings of Emppu and Marko. And there you go
Tuomas Holopainen (the song writer) is from Finland. Those sounds and lyrics comes from here, Finland. Melancolyness and epicness is written in our (Finns) genes! Tuomas has ability express our feelings perfectly! ;)
Nightwish is amazing, and Shoemaker is really good, but there are many other epic, symphonic, folk, viking, melodic and other metal bands to discover, and variety is the spice of life, after all.
@@hopegreer3357 Epica, Delain, Within Temptation, Avantasia, Ayreon, Vintersea, Wintersun, depends how heavy and screamo you want to get as then bands like Make them Suffer and Silent Planet can come in to the mix as well and this is just a polish of the surface not even a scratch!!
Good Lord, what a beutifull morning to me. Your face was brillant. I love this masterpiece. Floor in the interview say that Music and Shoemaker was a big vocal challenge to her. It's right, both song have very complex, progresive structur. At the moment, Tuomas is one of the best composer in the world. He mix a beutifull, strong Floor voice and soft and Warm Troy voice. I think that this song is the best tribute to Mr. Shoemaker and his work. Fun fact. This song isn't first Nightwish tribute to someone. Try High Hopes from End of the Era show.

there is a great analysis from Guylain Prince (french with english subtitles) for the first 4 songs till now. (music, noise, shoemaker and harvest) always worth a listening.
You can also check Evergrey - In Orbit feat. Floor Jansen 😁 (In short, Hannes Van Dahl (Floor's husband and Sabaton's drummer - check them also) used to be in that band and Floor always liked them, so when Carina Englund, then-wife (now ex-wife) of Tom Englund (singer and guitarist of the band) suggested over glass of wine that Floor could do a song with them, Floor fast agreed and this song was recorded for album The Storm Within (album was released in 2016). Also, she has small part in Disconnect, also track from this album. And at the time of recording of the video for In Orbit Floor was pregnant with her and Hannes' daughter Freja.) Shoemaker is the only human buried on a celestial body other than earth, but not the only one "buried" in space in general. Some of the ashes of Clyde Tombaugh, the discoverer of Pluto, were sent to space with the New Horizons probe.
I love the story behind the song, the references in the images....the way the worded it about the Scientists ashes on the moon en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Merle_Shoemaker
I appreciate that you did the research, looking at the video after what you shared, I don't know what the view from the Shoemaker crater looks like, but I'm personally sure Tuomas intended to present the idea that the video ended within the crater, just as Shoemaker himself was buried within. I strongly suggest that you check out 1) how's the heart and 2) tribal off of this album, they are both excellent, you won't be disappointed. Also, off of the instrumental back half of the album, check out "moors". No vocals, but it will knock your socks clean off, I assure you!

And Yes the narrator of the Romeo and juliet-part is her
I'll say it again..
"The sea lady, snow, glass, apples
. It is stories that built cathedrals" Pardon?
@@davidbentley4032 how is that pretentious? I think you mean that you don't understand the lyrics, which another thing entirely.
Yes, for me Toumas and Jeff Lynne of the Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) are up there with the greats 😊
Shoemaker was not the only guy not burried on Earth because there were people "burried" in space like Gene Roddenberry, for example. But he is the only person that's burried on another celestial body. :)
And omg this song, can't wait for the live concert in May.
This song is AWESOME... The first time I heard it, I cried... so emotional... Great reaction!
Stay safe🤘
Totally agree 🤣 whenever I listen to any of their songs I feel the need to stop what i'm doing, close my eyes and enjoy it properly
I can't put some of their songs on my playlist as I listen music when I am driving. It is pretty darn difficult to drive when you are weeping your eyes out.
Same here, my performance decreased 90% since I discovered them
You have just given the best reaction to Nightwish in my opinion....."Nightwish is an experience". Each & every song tells a story that has you glued to your seat in amazement! I love watching your reactions to them!
Thank you a lot for the kind words. I appreciate it. Hope you will enjoy the upcoming ones 😉👍🤘
Cualquier trabajo de nightwish te deja con la boca abierta y con los pelos de punta, y Floor es impresionante como puede utilizar su voz de múltiples formas. Un saludo desde Burgos (España). Muy buen vídeo, sigue así.
Floor is just so POWERFUL.
Tuomas doesn't write songs, he crafts art.
It often takes many listens for me to fully appreciate many of their songs.
They are able because Tuomas Holopainen is a genius composer, and Floor Jansen is a genius singer, and the other bandmembers are fantastic too....
I forgot: i already said this.... (they get to your brain...)
I stopped trying to make sense of it a while ago. Nowadays, I just have goosebumps and cry. Tears of happiness, epicness or sadness. I just cry.
Answer: Tuomas Holopainen is a genius... (And so is Floor Jansen, and the rest of the band
Metal Mozart is the perfect descriptor. I hate having to wait so long for a new album (even though their past albums still seem fresh), but it’s so worth the wait! 🤘🏻
I honestly feel kinda bad for people who never get to hear them or who can’t see or feel the magnificence of Nightwish pieces. The music puts you in a state of being that is apart from any other band.
Different dimensions is right. 😂 I live in one permanently because of Nightwish! 🥰🎶🤘🏻
Also, Shoemaker 🌔 was the dude who discovered the comet that plunged into Jupiter, giving astronomers a chance to see something never witnessed by human eyes before. I believe the comet was called Shoemaker-Levy 9 (?)
The pictures the scientists got were astonishing. ☄️💥
Really enjoyed your reaction. You're probably right, one day Tuomas is going to compose something that will send us all into another realm of existence. But what a trip it will be lol.
Every time i listen to this song, i get on this journey, with Shoemaker, and hes fantastic story, and its a good story, quite poetic to, so i get the story, and the beauty.. truely a great song, and a good thing that Tuomas do read a lot of books..lol
Laudato Si Ad astra
Means
Prasise be you, to the stars
You should check out Guylain Prince’s analyses (search his name on TH-cam). He is a Franciscan monk and he says the Laudato Si is referring to a famous poem by the founder of his order, St. Francis of Assisi. It also is referenced heavily in a document by Pope Francis from 2015, about the care of “our common home”.
Latin is a bit tricky. It can mean that or "Praise be to the stars" or "Praise be to you who go to the stars".
@@rijlqanturis625 Yes, i was corrected by a guy in another video comment, where i wrote it meant, Praise be to the stars, and he told me it was wrong, and it was Praise be you, to the stars, but i really dont know what is right..
@@ceithern Intresting, if there could be a whole poem, conneted to the line..
Sky is the limit doesnt apply on Tuomas, even universe isnt the limit apparently... I love this song, that last part makes me cry.. and Floors voice? Not from this world..She found the perfect band and they found the perfect singer to be the best of themselfs... I wish they would come to Greece to see Floor singing this live...
You said it before: Modern Mozart. Please also react to 'How's the Heart' from this album. Floor also did a acoustic version of the song with Troy. But both the album version and the live one are amazing.
I love your reactions and I love the fact that you did your homework about Shoemaker and know the band members name 🤟🏻 Shoemaker is great song, and the whole album is a masterpiece.
Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
I must admit this song almost made me cry, but the one that DID make me cry was ad astra 🤔 epic carl sagan + nightwish = FEELINGSSSS xD
I didn't think he'd top The Greatest Show On Earth, but...y'know..😉
You're absolutely right when you say that they create experiences, I feel that's the main reason why they are so loved around the world
oh damn, this song always gets me, looking forward to your reaction
Not of this earth ! Nightwish takes Music to a unbeliefable next level, can only be done with superb musicians and they are 🤘🤘🤘
Here in Brazil this song was a shock, because we have a very large audience about the Nightwish community and we heard about the song "Shoemaker" because there was a preview by Tuomas to honor a scientist in one of his songs and it was "Eugene Shoemaker".
They are not just creating music like others... They are destroying you emotionally through your ears. This band is on godlike level now with Floor and Troy and you can hear that with them Tuomas has the power again to create music like noone else can.
Valkyrie Queen ❤️
Wellcome Nightwish Army. I am Finland
I love this song. Expecially the end! OMG 😮♥️♥️
Toummas is a very inspired genius!!
Is like midas king,
And all the members are great artists, Floor is a godess with the most beatiful, angelical and powerful voice, just perfect!!!
Tuomas has ability express our feelings perfectly! ;)
You get it man. EXACTLY. It ain't music anymore. It's a blast into the universe
Even this masterpiece only true NW-fan appreciates enough. This is Art. Thank you☺️.
Best ever ....Epic !!
Nightwish is amazing, and Shoemaker is really good, but there are many other epic, symphonic, folk, viking, melodic and other metal bands to discover, and variety is the spice of life, after all.
100%
Will you please list some? Would be extremely appreciative!!
Try High Hopes from End of the Era show.
oohh thank you so much for the history, that already made me cry , being burried on the moon
Are you wondering how you can survive the studio experience just think of you listening to this live! It’s most Nightwish long for , their albums are great, but live it’s epic and lifetime experiences, next I would suggest Tribal if you haven’t reacted to it already!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Love watching your Nigthtwish reactions!! Please do The Poet and the Pendulum (wembley) and The greatest show on earth (Tampere) soon. They are such meaningful songs on their discography
I like to go for long walks and listen to Nightwish ...I always arrive home super relaxed and energized ;)
You are a lucky man. I have wait over 50 years for this music. I repeat the others, its time for "The greatest Show on Earth" in Tampere 2015
Awesome comment of the week; “ I don’t know what is going on with metal Mozart but...” Thanks for a great laugh - his talents are once in a generation at best...
there is a great analysis from Guylain Prince (french with english subtitles) for the first 4 songs till now. (music, noise, shoemaker and harvest) always worth a listening.
th-cam.com/video/LOV-gwSTf2A/w-d-xo.html. da ist der Link zur Shoemaker Analyse
nightwish being the ultimate emotion conductor for me
You can also check Evergrey - In Orbit feat. Floor Jansen 😁
(In short, Hannes Van Dahl (Floor's husband and Sabaton's drummer - check them also) used to be in that band and Floor always liked them, so when Carina Englund, then-wife (now ex-wife) of Tom Englund (singer and guitarist of the band) suggested over glass of wine that Floor could do a song with them, Floor fast agreed and this song was recorded for album The Storm Within (album was released in 2016). Also, she has small part in Disconnect, also track from this album. And at the time of recording of the video for In Orbit Floor was pregnant with her and Hannes' daughter Freja.)
After that, Evergrey - Weightless
They're Swedish power/progressive/dark melodic metal band from Gothenburg who kick asses.
So...hurry up 😁
Yesss Nightwish = experiences. That's exactly it
to create a song like this is really something.
toumas creates it all, and it sounds amazing, but you don't want to be able to create it.
only a few people have the capacity to function well with the amount of mental processes that come with it
It is absolutely fantastic, epic and wonderfull, and Floor is a the best vocal in the word!!!
Thomas is soooooo uuuffffffff magnific, and Marco 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Just watched Floor's husband Hannes, drummer for Sabaton, on "Ghost Division" official live version
The one from Woodstock?
I like To Hell and Back and Bismarck and Sargent York.
@@MortenM80 He wasn't in the band at Woodstock 2012.
How is this possible....one word Tuomas.
🤣 ow boy...I will love the Tribal reaction..me Thinks!
...🖐
An interesting detail. Laudato si' is also the name of a book by Pope Franciscus from 2015. It's subject is "On care for our common home".
We are living in the golden years that Nigthwish are at their top!!! Let's just enjoy it!
Make a pause of the new album and react to the followings and then come back:
- Poet and the Pendulum Live in Wembley 2015
- The Greatest Show On Earth live at Tampere
Great to have another video from you. I still hate TH-cam's supposed notification system for my subscriptions such as yourself which is why I'm a bit late to the party. Stay healthy my friend and keep 'em coming!
your reaction warmed my heart :)
Thank you 😊
Tuomas Holopainen is the Mozart of Symphonic-Metal !!!
I love it 😍😍😍🙂
That ending is everything!
If this gave you goosebumps, you also need to hear The Poet and the Pendulum at Wembley. Please for your own soul, listen to that one. It’s so powerful and deep in meaning...
Tuomas is a music genius!!! The whole band is amazing and Floor is the perfect vocal choice.
The moment that Laudato Si Ad Astra starts... i blame the onions.
You're funny and excellent reactions. And very helpful to read the background for us too. I've learnt something now. Thank you
Is it just me or is that the most beautiful end to any song ever?
Shoemaker is the only human buried on a celestial body other than earth, but not the only one "buried" in space in general. Some of the ashes of Clyde Tombaugh, the discoverer of Pluto, were sent to space with the New Horizons probe.
I have a towel with me,when i hear this song😂🙋🏽♀️🇳🇱❤️🙏🏼,it brings you in a higher spiritual level
Yet your best Nightwish reaction ! All points going for the research ! Tuomas please !
I love the story behind the song, the references in the images....the way the worded it about the Scientists ashes on the moon
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugene_Merle_Shoemaker
Tuomas....Pure Genius!
Thanks John. Yes I will cover the entire album one by one. First though will be an older NW Song. Tuomas is insane 😂
When you want great explanations of the songs of Shoemaker , Music and Pan , watch the reactions of that dude of Petrol Gaming . Spot on !!!
Yesssss, I was waiting for this!!! It is my favourite song of the album along with ad astra. Next you should try the greatest show on earth - tampere version and the poet and the pendulum at Wembley. You will be blown away. Keep them coming, I love your reactions!
Thank you 😎👌
Lol told you, you will be blown from your chair ... Your face was telling enough again ... I hope they will be here in the Netherlands in November .. but seeing how the crisis is going .. maybe we need to wait a little longer ... and i am actually learning the Tribal dance ... lol But to this album you said this song is an experience .. Yes it is ... and sometimes in this album, you need to learn the song to know .. as sometimes i had something like .. ehm... ok ... but then when hearing it more and more .....listening to the lyrics , listening to the instruments ... This is like you said an experience ... Great reaction as always johnny
MY all time favourite is... slaying the dreamer from nightwish.... end of an era live performance mit tarja
and... you are handsome :)
