As mentioned before, this is for and about Eugene Shoemaker. He was a planetary scientist and was a candidate for an Apollo mission until he was found to have Addison's disease. He died in the 1990s and his ashes were interred on the moon in the crater that was named for him. The urn containing his remains bears that quote from Shakespeare. Also, Laudato si = Praise be Ad astra = to the stars Thanks again and please keep rocking 😎
Fun Floor story: back in 2014, Floor led a vocal masterclass at a college in London. I was fortunate enough to be there. I was very much a beginner and listening to her made me realise, for the first time, how much hard work professionals put into singing. Songs like this, which require a lot of technique, make me think about her lessons again, and how many decisions she must make while singing. The lady WORKS. I'd always thought singing was something effortless, but I left that class and signed right up for classical lessons. Also, she did a q&a at the end and I still wish I'd asked her how she headbangs like that and keeps her ear piece in!
@@ChristinaValkyrie : Not just Ad Astra -- but whole Nature side of the album. Tuomas succeeds with that whole shebang that I don't think even he realizes how epic, and history-altering, it really is.
Floor said that she trained for about six weeks to get her voice ready for this piece. The first time I heard it I became breathless. My face grew wet, and I wished that the song might never end.
You: Can't sneak anything by me! Floor: Hold my horses carrot. *Floor goes full on Opera like you've never heard her before* I challenge anyone to find a more beautiful sound on the planet
I would alter that slightly: "MRR.exe has stopped working. Would you like to close the program, or wait for the process to resume?" Buttons: WAIT / CLOSE PROGRAM
Just wondering, have anyone ever heard you scream when reacting to Nightwish? 😂 can just imagine your neighbours passing by and just "omg do we need to call the police" and you having to explain that you just cant handle Floors voice 😂🤘 The last part of this song, Floor can you nooooot. Its too much 😭 truly enjoyed your reaction as always, good luck with pan!
There are guys who are sophisticated music experts. And then there is YOU. LIVING the music. It is such a great pleasure to see someone react on a totally emotional basis. I really love that. Please go on like this. 🤘
UnstoppaPaul i read in an interview the same thing but i really think it will depend by a couple of things such as response of the fans and if they will release it as a single. But good idea, let’s start the petition 😉
It's a really complex song, i'm glad you like'd it - one of my favourites. Troy's harmonies are great on this. The story of the song is about Eugene Shoemaker who was an American geologist and one of the founders of the field of planetary science. He's list of contribution to the world of science is notable, but the main thing to focus here is that some of he's ashes were carried to the moon in 1999 and that quotation which was read by wife of Tuomas ( Johanna Kurkela ) is inscribed to his memorial capsule. He always wanted to be an astronaut, but couldn't because he had an addison's disease. He died 1997 in a car crash.
Thuomas is a genius on how he can just change those tempos and keep the feeling of the song going and Floor is just again so AMAZING!!! Not surprised to see you hit the ground. This is mind blowing!
Mr Rock and Roll: "I knew this was coming! You can't sneak anything by me." All of us who have heard Shoemaker: "Oooooh, Tuomas and Floor are about to. . ."
I wasn't sure if he was saying that that was Empuu singing, or if he was taking a wild guess that Empuu was about to come in with a riff that he's wanting to hear.
Oof, no matter how many times I listen to this song, I cry like a little freakin' bitch. How, HOW 😅 Floor's pipes and way of delivering the end part slays my soul man, I'm telling youuu. Damn. 🖤
This album is brilliant. EVERY song on disk 1 is freakin good. There's enough there in each song for you to find something new each listen at the moment. "Live"......these songs will reach even another level. Its not "old" Nightwish which if people are real then they'd realize Nightwish has never been old.
As an opera singer, Floor just...dammit, she cuts onions every time! 😭😭😭 She has a way of getting to me few singers and/or composers do. Because she does -- along with the Maestro himself, Mr. Tuomas Holopainen -- they both remind me I'm still human. Especially when I think I've got nothing left to feel, emotionally.
One of the most awaited videos on youtube. Don't know how you will get through this album. Tribal next and I think you will hit much harder that chair... :)
At the end they should add the voice of God " It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.”
A pleasure to watch and listen to you react Sir. Floored again 🤣There should be a reaction channel dedicated only to your wonderful reactions. Thank you Sir.
I enjoy so much !!! You have to admit that this time Nightwish gave us a different concept... Different composing style and songs that need alot of "homework" to understand the lyrics....
The last couple minutes of that song always gives me chills. The last chorus bit sung, the narration from Romeo & Juliet, and the opera at the end - especially when the Earth sets beneath the Moon's horizon Just beautiful in every way. I have to say the video actually kind of helps that too, just like in Endlessness coming up later - the video coupled with the music gives me chills.
The story behind this song is incredible that shakespear quote is on a plaque along with his ashes on the moon. He was a famous astronomer and geologist and a candidate for the moon landing but had health problems so couldn't later when he died tragically they landed his ashes on the moon
Ow boy...🤣 the best song ever! If you only knew what is comming.... 🤘 Music was for me the perfect way to start this cd! Emppu is killing it with his sound and Kai is finally let loose on this album. The Laudato Si part oh well 💕😎 😁 The best song ever...🤔...that seems logical...now, but Pan and Tribal hmm Curious indeed! 🎸🥁 Thnx...🖐
This entire album is just Toumas showing us all again, how amazing he is, how he knows how to use the different talents in Nightwish and how to combine it all into amazing music. I really love this album and I cant wait to see you reacting to Tribal, it is one of my favorites... Just remember to hold onto something this album is a journey in headbanging and beauty. I envy you a bit, you have had just a single year of knowing Nightwish and you have barely scratched the surface of how wonderful and diverse their music truly is. Enjoy the journey with us and I cant wait to see more.
@4:37 That is the sound og genuine excitement! 😆 And the way the punched your chair in the litterally made me laugh out loud 😂 Also, I love the way you just go Joakim Broden style and start hammering your knee, when you don't know what to do with yourself. 😆🤣

Actually its latin, and verbs in latin are silent, so the meaning would be all praise be given to the stars :)
"Why....am i exist?"
I ask myself that every day lol
yes just yes
we exist to impact eachothers lives
She broke him, she broke him again people! Somebody come collect Mr. Rock'n'roll, Floor did it again :D
Somebody come collect Mr.Rock'n'roll off the floor :D
Damn right hahahaha 😂🔥
He thought Floorgasms couldn't get any better, but...nope...lol...
So on point! LOL. He does need some help here
Oh not again! Last time it was one hell of a mess.
I actually stopped midway a video of someone else reacting to romanticide because I was so pumped to see you react to this one!
Anaïs W. Well this just made my day!
Me too. Mr Rock and Roll, You are the best. Floor say that this song (and Music to) was one of the bigest challenge on this album. Stay safe.
Second this. Was looking forward to this video the moment I heard the song 😂 10/10 didn't disappont.

This is beyond goosebumps - it's a Floorgasm in your very soul. Another matchless masterpiece from Tuomas and Floor.

sadly there a big risk they won't due to the technical (singing) challenge of the piece. It needs a million nightwish fans to demand it to be heard :D
It needs to be heard live, Shoemaker Live at Wembley 2020 will be a historic moment ever

Mr Rock and Roll: "I knew this was coming! You can't sneak anything by me."
All of us who have heard Shoemaker: "Oooooh, Tuomas and Floor are about to. . ."
by the way, the guy's vocals are Troy, not Emppu (regarding 4:00 )
the legend herself.. Denise Hofs
Troy.. Emppu.. both look like dwarfs next to Floor..
I wasn't sure if he was saying that that was Empuu singing, or if he was taking a wild guess that Empuu was about to come in with a riff that he's wanting to hear.
Emppu? In any case Marko.
Yes, because Emppu essentially never speaks a single word (he doesn't need words to be cool)
You're going to love "PAN" my dude. There's no shortage of heavy riffs and insane vocal melodies.
"Why am I exist?" -Best quote ever. LMAO
